  • In the past, design used to be known as graphic design for printing medium. However, these days, through video media or multimedia, it has expanded to convey information thanks to the innovative development of the computer, which is digital civilization. Now design, through elaborate plans and projects, is acknowledged as creative work for communications appealing to emotion comprehensively and to transmit information effectively. This thesis presented a new methodology of mess communication using various elements such as video typography. Furthermore, reflecting feedback from hearing-unpaired people, theological background well grounded and the way to proceed in the future were also addressed.

  • 타이타늄은 밸브 메탈의 일종으로, 다양한 전해질 조건에서 양극산화되어 이산화 타이타늄($TiO_2$)을 형성한다. 이산화 타이타늄은 저렴한 가격, 풍부함, 무독성, 높은 안정성 등 다양한 장점을 지닌다. 또한 리튬 이온의 삽입/탈리 이후에도 구조적인 변화가 적은 성질과 비교적 높은 방전 전압(1.0-2.5 V vs Li/Li+)으로 인해 그래파이트를 대체할 리튬이온 전지의 전극재료로써 연구되어 왔다. 하지만 낮은 이온 및 전기 전도도로 인해 다양한 분야에서의 활용에 한계가 있어왔다. 이러한 한계 극복을 위해, 이산화 타이타늄에 전도성이 높은 탄소 계열의 물질을 코팅하는 방법이 고려되었다. 그래핀 산화물은 강한 산을 이용하여 그래파이트를 산화시킨 물질로, 많은 산소작용기를 함유하고 있어 탄소 고유의 전기전도성을 갖지 못한다. 환원 그래핀 산화물(reduced graphene oxide)는 빛, 열, 화학 작용울 통해 그래핀 옥사이드를 환원시켜 산소작용기를 없앤 물질로, 환원과정에서 전기전도성을 회복한다. 이에 본 연구에서는 이산화 타이타늄에 환원 그래핀 산화물(reduced graphene oxide)를 코팅하여 전기 전도도를 향상시키고. 이에 대한 활용 분야를 연구하고자 하였다.

Design of Compact Log-Periodic Half-Bow-tie Dipole Array Antenna for UWB Band (UWB 대역 소형 대수-주기 반-보우타이 다이폴 배열 안테나 설계)

  • In this paper, a design method for a compact log-periodic half-bow-tie dipole array antenna for an operation in UWB band is studied. The proposed antenna is miniaturized by using half-bow-tie shaped dipole elements instead of strip-type dipole elements, which are commonly used in general log-periodic dipole array antenna, and by reducing the element spacing. The effects of the flare angle of the half-bow-tie elements and the element spacing on input reflection coefficient and realized gain characteristics of the proposed log-periodic antenna are analyzed. The optimized antenna is designed on FR4 substrate, and it operates in the frequency band of 3.05-13.96 GHz for a VSWR < 2, which assures the operation in the UWB band.

  • In this paper, we propose a new heuristic solution for 3D container packing problem for the variable size and the variable kind of freights. First we consider the total cost of container charges, i.e., loading, transportation and handling charges, where the priority of each frights are dealt. By minimizing the total cost of container charges, the kinds of container and its number can be decided automatically. From these factors, we con determine the position in the container and the loading sequence into the container. Finally, by equivalence of freight's weight in container, we can prevent the freight's damage on the handling.

A Study on Typography Style by Deconstructionism (해체주의(Deconstructionism) 경향의 타이포그래피 스타일에 관한 연구)

  • It has been known that deconstruction has affected various fields as literature, architecture, an, film, industrial design, and so on. Especially, deconstruction has applied into a wide scope of the design related fields through diverse ways and the results also show that there is a great potentiality in the ways of it's expression with different styles. Deconstruction design has been approached in connection with post-modernism, deconstruction theory of J. Derrida and pluralistic post industrial society. In particular, it is obvious that deconstruction philosophy has deeply affected the fields of visual design and typography which are mostly communicated with symbols and texts. This study intends to examine how the deconstruction theory has been practically applied into the typography by analyzing the change of deconstruction typographic styles and exploring the distinctiveness of the change.

  • 본 논문에서는 안드로이드 플랫폼에서 3D 타이포그래피를 쉽게 표현할 수 있도록 지원하는 라이브러리를 설계 구현하였다. 현재까지 모바일 플랫폼에서 3D 타이포그래피를 지원하기 위한 라이브러리는 iOS에서 사용가능한 FTGL ES만이 공개되었고 이를 직접 안드로이드 플랫폼에서 사용할 수 없으며 제공되는 3D 표현 기능 또한 제한적이었다. 본 연구에서는 iOS용 FTGL ES를 안드로이드 플랫폼에서 사용할 수 있도록 변환하고 OpenGL ES기능을 활용하여 다양한 3D 폰트 표현을 지원할 수 있는 3D 폰트 라이브러리를 개발하였다. Freetype 라이브러리를 통해 폰트의 Glyph 정보들을 얻고 이를 이용해 테두리, 양각, 음각 등 다양한 3D 문자 표현 기능을 구현하였고, 공간상에서 문자들의 배치를 수학적으로 모델링하여 다양한 3D 문자 배치 기능을 구현하였다. 개발된 3D 폰트 라이브러리를 이용하여 다양하게 문자들을 3D 공간에 표현할 수 있으면서, 기존 3D 타이포그래피 표현 방법들에 비해 더 쉽고 빠르게 3D 타이포그래피를 표현할 수 있도록 지원한다.

  • Wearable devices, such as a smart watch and a wrist band, store owner's private information in the devices so that security in a high level is required. Applications developed by third parties in Tizen request for an access to designated services through the desktop bus (D-Bus). The D-Bus verifies application's privileges to grant the request for an access. We developed a fuzzing tool, so-called DAN (the D-bus ANalyzer), to detect errors in implementations for privilege verifications and access controls within Tizen's system services. The DAN has found a number of vulnerable services which granted accesses to unauthorized applications. We built a proof-of-concept application based on those findings to demonstrate a bypass in the privilege examination.

Current Status of Titanium Recycling Technology (타이타늄의 리사이클링 기술 현황)

  • Titanium is the fourth most abundant structural metal, after aluminum, iron, and magnesium. However, it is classified as a 'rare metals', because it is difficult to smelt. In particular, the primary titanium production process is highly energy-intensive. Recycling titanium scraps to produce ingots can reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions by approximately 95 %. However, the amount of metal recycled from scrap remains limited of the difficulty in removing impurities such as iron and oxygen from the scrap. Generally, high-grade titanium and its alloy scraps are recycled by dilution with a virgin titanium sponge during the remelting process. Low-grade titanium scrap is recycled to ferrotitanium (cascade recycling). This paper provides an overview of titanium production and recycling processes.

Characterization of Hyaluronic Acid Membrane Cross-linked with Lactide (락타이드로 가교시킨 히아루론산 막의 특성)

  • The hyaluronic acid (HA) with excellent biocompatibility has been combined with lactide, the ester dimer of polylactide, with good biodegradability to produce biocompatible materials which can control the period of degradation in a human body. By freeze frying method, HA and lactide were crosslinked with crosslinking agent, 1-ethyl-3-(3-dimethyl aminopropyl) carbodiimide (EDC). Degree of lactide and EDC reaction was determined by the analysis of nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. Both lactyl group and EDC conversion increased as the mole ratio of lactide to HA increased from 5 to 13. The membrane swelled less and became more brittle with the more addition of lactyl group resulting from the higher mole ratio of lactide to HA. Swelling ratio decreased and tensile modulus increased due to the more addition of lactyl group as the EDC concentration increased or reaction temperature decreased. Drug release experiment from various membranes with different degree of crosslinking showed that permeability decreased with increasing degree of crosslinking. The degradation became slower with the more addition of lactyl group. Mechanical property and degradation rate of the synthesized membrane were shown to be controlled through adjusting operation parameters such as mole ratio, temperature, and crosslinking agent concentration.
