  • Internet addiction is a serious social problem in information society. The purpose of this study is to develope a small diagnostic scale in order to detect internet addiction easily. The reliability and validity of K-scale and Kimberly Young-scale is investigated. Five small diagnostic scale is suggested by factor analysis and regression. The comparision of these small scale is established by correlation coefficient, chi-square test, gamma value of concordance in contingency table. In view of reliability and validity, we suggest a small diagnostic scale. The results of this study may be useful to detect internet addiction by oneself.

  • It is well known that FCM is an indispensible tool for fuzzy clustering. The problems of using FCM are 1) it is sensitive to the initial random membership functions and 2) FCM inherently requires the number of clusters. Hence we need to run FCM algorithms with an appropriate validity measure until we find a suitable number of clusters. In this paper, we suggest the Majority-Voting FCM with implied validity measure. With this algorithm, we can solve the aforementioned problems. The working simulation results are provided. The contributions are 1) MV-FCM algorithm and 2) its definitive capability of being an excellent validity measure.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the measurement of attitude towards science based on social constructivism and the application of this scale. The data were collected using questionnaires from 833 middle school students in the second grade. First, factor analysis were used to assess the construct validity of the scale of Reputation in Culture Border Crossings (R-CBC) developed by Krogh and Thomsen (2005). This finding indicated the construct validity of R-CBC scale based on social constructivism. Second, the correlation among two scales based on social constructivism and Test of Science-Related Attitudes (TOSRA) scale based on individual constructivism were investigated to examine the convergent validity and the discriminant validity. The R-CBC scale was correlated with Simpson-Troost Attitude Questionnaire (STAQ) scale but the R-CBC scale and TOSRA scale were not connected. Third, students' attitude toward science assessed by three forms of measurements were compared according to the choice of high school type. Students' attitude toward science measured by R-CBC scale and STAQ scale were different in three types of high school. This finding indicated that two scales based on social constructivism are useful measurements that can predict the choice of high school type.

  • As evaluating the health literacy is getting important, various measures for evaluation are being developed. Nevertheless, discussions about developing proper measures in Korean are still inactive. Therefore in this paper, we proposed Korean REALM (rapid estimate of adult literacy in medicine) measure that is composed of five point scale and investigated about its validity. As a result, we could find that Korean REALM measure which is composed of five point scale has high reliability, and that it formed one dimension as a result of factor analysis. Positive responses were lower than two point scale and correlation coefficient with NVS (the newest vital sign) appeared statistically significant. Therefore, we could conclude that Korean REALM measure that is composed of five point scale is a valid measurement. Furthermore, there were statistically significant differences between general students and department of nursing students about health literacy.

  • This study aims to development and validation a tool to measure physical education teaching anxiety(PETA) among preservice special teacher. In order to achieve this study purpose, first, the preliminary items for measurement scale were collected through open-ended questions and were developed by inductive content analysis from the 100 preservice special teacher. Second, investigation for construct validity was conducted on exploratory factor analysis from the 100 preservice special teacher. Third, in the final process, verify exernal validity was conducted by confirmatory factor analysis and t-test from the 300 presevice special teacher. As a result, the measurement scale of physical education teaching anxiety(PETA) among preservice special teacher consists of 4 main factors with 14 items: pedagogical content knowledge(n=4), understanding students(n=4), class environment(n=3), class management(n=3) factors and this scale has enough suitability.

  • This study purposed to contribute to systematic management of service quality of festival by developing scale of service quality. According to the result of this study, scale of service quality in festival was developed, which are composed of 26 measuring items in 8 factors. this study suggests major factors(program quality, experience, interaction as well as tangibles, agreeability, responsiveness, access, reliability related to SERVQUAL). This study has an academic meaning in that it developed a scale of service quality suitable to festival and a practical meaning that it provided foundation of customer satisfaction management.

  • Several clustering algorithms to analyze gene expression data and cluster validation techniques that assess the quality of their outcomes, have been suggested, but evaluations of these cluster validation techniques have seldom been implemented. In this paper we compared various cluster validity indices for simulation data and real genomic data, and found that Dunn's index is more effective and robust through small simulations and with real gene expression data.

  • The purpose of the present study was to examine the validity and reliability of the Korean version of PANSI(Positive and Negative Suicide Ideation: K-PANSI) scale which was developed to measure adolescents' suicide ideation. The study sample consisted of 552 middle school students using a questionnaire survey including the K-PANSI. A reliability analysis, a correlation analysis, and a confirmatory factor analysis were used to test internal consistency(Cronbach alpha), criterion validity (with respect to CES-D, BDI, RES, SWLS), and construct validity. Major study findings are as follows. First, Cronbach' ${\alpha}$ of the K-PANSI scale is supported to some degree by significant correlations with CES-D, BDI, RES, SWLS. Lastly, the confirmatory factor analysis of the K-PANSI scale showed that a two factor model was appropriate with 66.0 percent of explanatory power. These findings suggest that the K-PANSI scale could be used as a reliable and valid measure for adolescent' suicide ideation.

  • The Purpose of this study is to develop an evaluation model for usability of research data service from the angles of evaluating usefulness of research data service itself and research data use experience-based usability. First, the various cases of evaluating usability of data services are examined and 4 rating scales and 20 measuring indicators for research data service are derived as a result of comparative analysis. In order to verify validity and reliability of the rating scale and the measuring indicators, the study conducted a survey of 164 potential research data users. KMO Bartlett Analysis was performed for validity test, and Principle Component Analysis and Verimax Rotating Method were used for component analysis on measuring indicators. The result shows that the 4 intrinsic rating scales satisfy the validity criteria of KMO Barlett; A single component was determined from component analysis, which verifies the validity of measuring indicators of the current rating scale. However, the result of 12 user experience-based measuring indicators analysis identified 2 components that are each classified as rating scale of utilization level and that of participation level. Cronbach's alpha of all 6 rating scales was 0.6 or more for the overall scale.
