Effects of Scapular Dynamic Stabilization Exercise Applying EMG Biofeedback on Upper Trapezius, Pectoralis Major and Serratus Anterior Activities (근전도 바이오피드백을 적용한 어깨뼈 동적 안정화운동이 위등세모근, 큰가슴근 및 앞톱니근 활성에 미치는 영향)

  • The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of scapular dynamic stabilization exercise(SDex) with electromyography(EMG) biofeedback on the upper trapezius(UT), pectoralis major(PM) and serratus anterior(SA) activities. Fifteen healthy male voluntarily participated in this study. A paired t-test was used for statistical analysis. The study showed, through EMG biofeedback, that EMG activity significantly decreased in the UT, PM and increased in the SA(P<0.05). These results suggest that SDex with EMG biofeedback is effective to selectively strengthen the SA. This article is meaningful in that it is the first article using SDex with EMG biofeedback.

출하 일령에 따른 오리육의 화학적 특성

  • 본 연구는 오리고기의 사육일령에 따른 부위별 화학적 특성을 구명하고자 실시하였다. 오리고기의 단백질 함량은 70일령의 가슴 및 다리 육이 각각 21.13, 19.61%로 45일령보다 높게 나타났다. 지방은 45일령의 가슴 육이 1.04%이었으나 70일령에서는 1.38%로 약간 증가하는 경향을 나타내었다. 무기물에서 칼슘(Ca)의 함량은 가슴 및 다리 육에서 $142.1{\sim}161.1ppm$ 으로 큰 차이를 보이지 않았고, 사육일령에 따라서 가슴 육은 사육일령이 증가할수록 약간 증가한 것으로 나타났다. 칼륨(K)의 함량은 가슴 육에서 45일령이 1469.7ppm이고 70일령 1883.1ppm으로 약간 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 아미노산에서 methionine은 가슴 및 다리 육에서 0.43, 0.46%로 다리 육에서 약간 많이 함유하고 있었으나, 사육 일령에서는 상호 차이가 없었다. Glutamic acid는 가슴 육보다 다리 육에서 약간 더 많이 함유하는 것으로 나타났다. 콜라겐 함량은 45일령의 가슴살에서 0.65, 70일령 0.77g/100g으로 사육일령이 증가함에 따라 많았다. 껍질을 제거한 날개 육에서는 45일령이 1.98이었고 70일령이 2.13g/100g으로 70일령이 0.15g/100g 이상 많았다. 콜레스테롤은 가슴육의 45일령이 10.45, 70일령이 11.28mg/100g으로 사육일령이 증가함에 따라 약간 증가하는 경향을 나타냈다.

A Effect of the Shoulder Stabilizer Muscle Activity During a Push-up-Plus on a Different Condition Surface (다른 지면 조건에서의 푸시업 플러스 운동이 어깨 안정근의 근 활성도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to compare the shoulder stabilizer muscle activity during a push up plus on a different conditioning surface. Eighteen healthy volunteers were tested. Surface EMG was recorded from the upper trapezius(UT), pectoralis major(PM), and serratus anterior(SA) using surface differential conditions. Measurements were performed for 7 days. The mean root mean square (RMS) of EMG activity was calculated. A one-way repeated measures analysis of variance was performed to compare RMS normalized values. The UT and PM did not show significant differences of electric activation amplitude in relation to different surface conditions(p>.05). However, the SA showed greater mean electric activation amplitude values on the push up plus exercise on a upper and lower unstable surface(p<.05). These results suggest that to improve SA EMG activity is more useful when performed on a upper and lower unstable surface conditions than on a stable surface conditions.

  • Axillary arch is relatively common variation of muscle in the axilla. There were several attentions on axillary arch due to its anatomical and surgical importance. During educational dissection, a variant muscle was found in right arm of 68-year-old female cadaver. The variation of muscle originated from the lateral edge of the latissimus dorsi muscle as muscular form. And then, it crossed the axillary artery and median nerve as tendinous form. Finally it became wide as muscular form and inserted into the pectoralis major. We reported this variant muscle and discussed its clinical significances.

Comparison of CPR Results And Muscle Fatigue According to Chest Compression Performer's Own Breathing Method

  • In this paper, we propose a study compared and analyzed the CPR results and muscle fatigue of the three groups. There is a group that counts loudly when compressing the mannequin's chest (Group A), a group that breathes autonomously without counting (Group B), and a group that breathes abdominally without counting (Group C). Twelve people were assigned to each group, and after performing chest compressions for 5 minutes, the results of CPR were analyzed using a program connected to the mannequin, and the muscle fatigue of the performers was analyzed using wireless electromyography. The most efficient method was found to be group B. If we only look at the speed and depth of compression within the normal range, Group C would be more efficient, but Group B showed significantly lower muscle fatigue, and Group A did not reach the normal range in depth of chest compression and muscle fatigue was the highest. Group B was also found to be the most accurate in hand positioning accuracy, and was also found to be the most efficient in maintaining concentration on chest compressions.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate difference of activity of scapular stabilizer muscles among push-up, knee push-up and wall push-up exercise. Eight male college students were recruited as participants without any history of shoulder or pathology. The results showed that serratus anterior, anterior deltoid, infraspinatus were higher muscle activities than other scapular stabilizer muscles during push-up exercise and muscle activity of standard push-up exercise was higher muscle activity than that of Knee and Wall push-up exercise. Also, We know that knee push-down exercise was more effective than wall push-down exercise for scapular stabilization.

Effects of Shortening of Pectoralis Minor Muscle on Muscle Activity of Trapezius and Pectoralis Major Muscles (작은가슴근의 단축이 등세모근과 큰가슴근의 근 활성도에 미치는 영향)

  • PURPOSE : The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of the length of the pectoralis minor on muscle activity of trapezius and pectoralis major in subjects in subjects with shortened pectoralis minor muscle. METHOD : The subjects was participated in 36 with shortened pectoralis minor muscle. All subjects was examined the length test of pectoralis minor muscle. we divided by 3 groups. group I(n=12) was for 4~5cm of length of pectoralis minor muscle, group II(n=12) was for 5~6cm, group III(n=12) was for above 6cm. The EMG activity of upper trapezius, middle trapezius, lower trapezius and pectoralis major muscle activity was measured by surface EMG while elevationg the right arm in sitting postion with head to the neutral, shoulder elevation $135^{\circ}$ with scaption. Data were analyed using one-way ANOVA with a Tukey post hoc test. RESULT : The EMG activity differed significantly among the three groups(p<.05). The group III had significantly greater EMG activity of upper trapezius and pectoralis major muscles than group I and II(p<.05). Also, The group III had significantly smaller EMG activity of lower trapezius muscle than group I and II(p<.05). But, these was no significant difference in the EMG activity of the middle trapezius muscle among the groups (p.05). CONCLUSION : Therefore, the result of this study should be suggested that the shortened pectoralis minor muscle was affected the EMG activity of the upper trapezius, lower trapezius and pectoralis major. Ultimately the length of the pectoralis minor muscle leads to the muscle imbalance in shoulder girdle.

노계육의 탕적 온도에 따른 육질 및 저장 특성 변화

  • 본 연구는 노계의 도계과정에서 탕적온도가 닭고기의 육질에 미치는 영향과 저장특성을 구명하고자 실시하였다. 가슴살의 육색의 황색도($b^{\ast}$)는 저장 1일의 가슴살 경우 고온 탕적시 황색도가 가장 낮은 경향을 나타냈다. 이러한 경향은 저장 3일, 5일에서도 비슷하였다. TBA(지방산패도)는 저장 3일에 탕적온도가 높아질수록 증가하는 경향을 나타냈다. 도체상태에서 깃털 유무는 저온탕적 처리구에서 평균 1.95개를 나타냈으나 중, 고온탕적에서 각각 1.15, 0.95으로 고온으로 갈수록 점차 감소하는 경향을 나타냈다. 잔모는 $59^{\circ}C$의 저온탕적 처리구에서는 55%이었으나 중, 고온탕적 처리구에서 각각 30, 25%를 나타내 고온으로 갈수록 잔모 제거율이 높았다. 도체 미생물 분포에서 저장 5일에 총세균수의 변화는 $59^{\circ}C$에서 $4.27Log_{10}CFU/cm^2$으로 나타났고, 중,고온 탕적 처리구에서 각각 4.21, 4.10으로 약간 저하되는 경향을 나타냈으나 큰 차이는 없었다. 결과를 종합하면 탕적온도가 증가할수록 도체상태는 양호하였으나 고온일 경우는 저장성이 저하되는 것을 볼 수 있었다.

The Effect of Open and Close Kinetic Chain Exercise on the Muscle Activity of Pectoralis Major and Triceps (열린사슬운동과 닫힌사슬운동이 큰가슴근과 위팔세갈래근의 근활성도에 미치는 영향)

  • Background: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of open and close kinetic chain exercise on the muscle activity of pectoralis major and triceps. Method: Twenty healthy male college students were assessed three times over two weeks. The participants were randomly assigned to OKCE(Open Kinetic Chain Exercise) and CKCE(Close Kinetic Chain Exercise). On the first day, the 7th day and the last day, The MP(mean power) and PT(peak torque) of the PM(pectoralis major) and TR(triceps) during the exercise were measured with an electromyography device and the study was compared. Result: In the present study, it was found that Statistical analysis of the measured values at the end of experimental period revealed statistically significant differences in the MP and PT values of TR and PM. Conclusion: These findings suggest that CKCE and OKCE may be an effective physical therapy intervention for strengthening muscular activity in patients with low activity in the upper limb, including normal subjects, although it is not suitable for effective exercise by selecting either CKCE or OKCE.

Comparison of the Serratus Anterior, Upper Trapezius, and Pectoralis Major Muscle Activity According to Horizontal Abduction and Horizontal Adduction Resistance and External Weight During Protraction Exercise (어깨뼈 내밈 운동 시 어깨관절 수평 벌림과 수평모음 저항과 외부 무게에 따른 앞톱니근, 위등세모근, 그리고 큰가슴근 근활성도 비교)

  • Background: The increase in the activity of the upper trapezius (UT) muscle and decrease in the activity of the serratus anterior (SA) and lower trapezius (LT) muscle produce an abnormal scapulohumeral rhythem. Therefore, the SA is the focus of therapeutic exercise protocols for the rehabilitation. This study aimed to compare the activity of the muscles according to resistance levels during protraction exercise. Methods: Thirteen healthy 20 to 30 years old male and female subjected participated in the study. All subjects performed the scapular protraction exercise with the weights of 0, 5, and 10kg, combined with horizontal shoulder abduction and adduction. The electromyography data of the SA, UT, and pectoralis major (PM) during the exercise were recorded using surface electrodes. The ratios of PM/SA and UT/SA were calculated. Repeated one-way ANOVA was used to determine the statistical significance. Results: There was a significant difference in the muscle activity of the SA and PM (p<.05). Specifically, SA had the highest activity and PM had the lowest activity at an abduction resistance 10kg (p<.01). There was a significant difference in the ratios of UT/SA and PM/SA (p<.05). The ratio of PM/SA was the lowest at the abduction resistance of 10kg (p<.01). Conclusion: According to this study, for the selective activation of the serratus anterior, protraction exercises should be applied as a method of adding resistance to protraction and horizontal abduction.
