To predict autogenous shrinkage of concrete, unsaturated pore compensation factor could be calculated by experiments of autogenous shrinkage of cement paste on the assumption that the differences between degree of hydration and strain rate of autogenous shrinkage are unsaturated pore formation rate. Applying unsaturated pore compensation factor on modified Pickket model considering contribution factor and non-contribution factor to autogenous shrinkage of concrete, experimental data and existing model were compared. From the results modified Pickket model was verified to present similar tendency between Tazawa model and experimental data, but CEB-FIP model might be corrected because this model uses ultimate autogenous shrinkage underestimated and the same autogenous time function of concrete material properties considering only compressive strength.
Drying shrinkage is a very important properties of concrete, which is affected by environmental conditions. The environmental conditions are temperature, relative humidity, and wind speed, which is quite variable and its effct on drying shrinkage is quite complex, too. In this study, environmental effects on drying shrinkage wrer integrated into one variable-evaporation rate. In several different environmental conditions, evaporation rate was measured with Evaporometer and compared with PCA chart, and also compared with measured drying shirnkage to verify the possibility of being a single parameter. The results are summarized in a prediction chart and prediction equation for drying shrinkage.

This paper presents the experimental results on volumetric changes in ordinary portland cement concrete made with various water-to-cement ratios(W/C's) ranging from 0.32 to 0.50 and cured in low different conditions. Curing regimes employed in this work were designed to exhibit autogenous and drying shrinkage as well as swelling of concrete. The concrete avoided any moist evaporation(Regime f showed only autogenous shrinkage and the lower the W/C, the feater the autogenous shrinkage. The concrete exposed to air drying conditions at $20{\pm}1^{\circ}C$ and $60{\pm}3%$ RH after 6-day water curing at $20{\pm}1^{\circ}C$(Regime II) swelled and then started to shrink. The maximum swelling value of concrete developed in water curing was between 15 and $40{\pm}10^{-6}$, and the greatest total shrinkage(autogenous+drying shrinkage) was obtained for the mixture made with W/C of 0.32. The concrete let to air drying conditions(Regime III) showed greater total shrinkage compared to the concrete cured in Regime II. The concrete exposed to air drying condition after 6-day sealed curing(Regime IV) exhibited slightly smaller total shrinkage than that of the concrete cured in Regime III. Net drying shrinkage that can be derived from the results of Regime I, III, and IV increased as the W/C increased despite of similar total shrinkage. This result indicated that drying shrinkage governs total shrinkage of high-W/C concretes. In other words, a portion of autogenous shrinkage in total shrinkage increased in low-W/C concretes. Therefore, it should be controlled in terms of cracking potential. Finally, total shrinkage of high-strength and high-performance concrete made with low W/C can be effectively reduced by appropriate early moisture curing.
Shrinkage strip or separation strip is a temporary joint that is left open for a certain time during construction to allow a significant part of the shrinkage to take place without inducing stress. A shrinkage stress analysis method of shrinkage strip in concrete slab of multi-story building considering the relaxation effect of creep and construction sequence is proposed. The analysis results of 10-story example building show that the effect of shrinkage strip can be analyzed easily by the proposed method. And shrinkage strip installed in a particular floor makes the stress of that floor reduced and the stress of the other floors increased a little. The rate and amount of stress reduced with closing time mainly depends on the development of shrinkage with time of concrete model used. The amount of stress reduced is determined by the amount of shrinkage strain developed before the closing of shrinkage strip.

Recently, it is noticed that autogenous shrinkage of high-performance concrete causes early crack in high performance concrete structures. The purpose of the present study is to derive a realistic equation to estimate the autogenous shrinkage of high performance concrete and to apply to structural analysis. For this purpose, several series of concrete specimens have been tested. When water-binder ratio is fixed to $30\%$, major test variables were the type and contents of mineral admixture. The autogenous shrinkage of HPC with fly ash slightly decreased than that of OPC concrete, but the use of blast furnace slag increased with the autogenous shrinkage. A prediction equation to estimate the autogenous shrinkage of HPC with mineral admixture was derived and proposed in this study. The proposed equation show reasonably good correlation with test data on autogenous shrinkage of HPC with mineral admixture. The finite element program developed in this study provides the useful tool for the flexural analysis including the autogenous shrinkage model. By this program, we know that the tensile stress considering the autogenous shrinkage of reinforced concrete structures increase $20\~27\%$ than that not considering.
In the concrete st~uctures exposed to the environmental condition, the water movement is occurred by thc moisture difilsion, and the rnoisturrt distribution in concwt.c is nonunifhrm. Such a non-unif'orm moisture distribution causes tht. diflbrent.ia1 drying shrinkage in concrete structures. From this typc. of' dif'fercntial drying shrinkagr' tensiit-1 stress is occurred in exposure surface of concrete structures. and may result in crack formation. This residual stress is significantly affected by the creep of concrete, and the differential creep is also occurred at the cross section of concrete structures due to moisture difference at each locations. In this study, based on the moisture diffusion theory, a finite element program which is capable of simulating the moisture distribution in concrete was developed. And the analysis method for the differential drying shrinkage was suggested, in which the differential creep was considered. The differential drying shrinkage strain was also measured at various positions of concrete. Finally the validity of analysis method was proved by comparing test results with analytical results.

This paper reports the physical and shrinkage properties of concrete using expansive additive(E) and three shrinkage reducing admixtures(SRA1, 2, 3) in order to reduce shrinkage of concrete. For the properties of fresh concrete, the use of SRA1, 2, 3 results in a increase in fluidity and decrease in the dosage of super plasticizer as much as 0.05$\sim$0.1%. And For the properties of hardened concrete, the use of SRA1, 2, 3 results in a decrease in compressive, tensile and flexural strength slightly. For drying shrinkage properties, the use of SRA3 is the most effective for reduction of shrinkage, and the next best way to reduce shrinkage is combination with expansive additive(E) and shrinkage reducing admixture(SRA) or the using of expansive additive(E).

As super.high.strength concrete uses a large amount of binder, there is an autogenous shrinkage strain larger than dry shrinkage and it degrades the quality of structures. Thus, we need a technology to minimize the shrinkage strain of super.high.strength concrete. Accordingly, the present study prepared super.high strength concrete with design strength of over 80MPa and, using an embedded gauge, measured the shrinkage strain of free shrinkage specimens for super.high.strength concrete containing expansion agent. According to the results of this study, the expansion rate of concrete increased in the early stage due to the admixture of expansion agent, but the shrinkage rate went down with the lapse of time. The effect of the admixture of expansion agent on compressive strength appeared insignificant. Further research shall be made on different kinds of expansion agents and various mixture ratios for basic analysis to reduce autogenous shrinkage of super.high.strength concrete.
