  • This study examined concrete characteristics depending on the replacement ratio of recycled fine aggregates, which suits the KS F 2573 concrete recycled aggregate standard. As physical properties, slump, air content, changes in the elapse of time and compressive strength were studied in order to provide basic data for activation of recycled fine aggregate recycling. As a result of experimenting recycled fine aggregate concrete, the increase in the replacement ratio of recycled aggregates led to the increase in slump and air content. Also, when the replacement ratio of recycled fine aggregates was 30%, it was judged that there was no problem with constructability. When the replacement ratio was 30%, recycled fine aggregate concrete had a similar tendency to natural aggregate concrete at a compressive strength of 24MPa. When the replacement ratio was 30%, at a target strength of 24MPa, recycled fine aggregate concrete had the same physical characteristics as natural aggregate concrete. This means that a replacement ratio of 30% is appropriate for replacement of recycled fine aggregates. In future, there will be a need to improve the quality of recycled fine aggregates for activating the use of recycled fine aggregates and further research will have to evaluate physical properties of recycled fine aggregate concrete using improved recycled fine aggregates.

  • When the behavior of a prototype concrete structure is studied through small-scale model experiments, it is necessary to reproduce all significant physical characteristics on either an one-to-one basis or a specific similitude relationship. Any distortion of similitude must be understood and its effect must be predictable. This paper focuses on improved physical modeling techniques for small-scale reinforced concrete structures. Particular emphasis is placed on the development of a model concrete mix to accurately model the important properties of full-scale prototype concrete. Four types of model reinforcement with different bond characteristics are also studied by testing twenty simple beams. The information obtained will be of immediate use to engineers contemplating small-scale modeling of reinforced concrete structures.

  • In this study, various mechanical properties of concretes employing waste concrete as aggregate were examined. These concretes were obtained by mixing seven types of aggregate for different ratios. So, the experimental variables are the kinds of aggregates (some different aggregate compositions) and W/C ratio (0.40, 0.45, 0.50). From experimental results, the reliable regression analysis equations between compressive strength and various experimental data for recycled aggregate concrete are presented. Consequently, this study was accomplished to investigate basic engineering properties of recycled aggregate concrete using waste concrete.

  • The present review dealt with the state-of-art on utilization of coal bottom ash in cement-based concrete and mortar. Two types of bottom ashes generated from pulverized coal combustion and circulating fluidized-bed combustion systems have been considered. The production process, chemical and physical characteristics of both ashes, and the methodology of utilization in various cement composites are summarized. The effect of bottom ash on various properties of concrete, such as workability, strength, and durability, were reviewed from the literature. In addition, the environmental and economic aspects of utilizing bottom ash in concrete are analyzed to explore the perspectives of bottom ash utilization, and through this, the future of the utilization was considered. The effect of bottom ash on the performance of concrete and mortar was greatly depended on the condition, pretreatment, and processing of the ash. Additional processing such as crushing might contribute to stimulating the utilization in this field. In particular, if economic support is possible in terms of policy, utilization rate is expected to be improved.

  • This study aims to attain the basic data needed for the adaptation and application of polymer cement concrete as a new construction material by reviewing the various physical characteristics of polymer cement concrete following the changes in polymer type. The research found that cement concrete mixed with polymer, while it had some variation, had excellent qualities in all of compressive strength, tensile strength, water absorption, weight reducing ratio, and resistance of freezing and thawing.

  • This paper reports the physical and shrinkage properties of concrete using expansive additive(E) and three shrinkage reducing admixtures(SRA1, 2, 3) in order to reduce shrinkage of concrete. For the properties of fresh concrete, the use of SRA1, 2, 3 results in a increase in fluidity and decrease in the dosage of super plasticizer as much as 0.05$\sim$0.1%. And For the properties of hardened concrete, the use of SRA1, 2, 3 results in a decrease in compressive, tensile and flexural strength slightly. For drying shrinkage properties, the use of SRA3 is the most effective for reduction of shrinkage, and the next best way to reduce shrinkage is combination with expansive additive(E) and shrinkage reducing admixture(SRA) or the using of expansive additive(E).

  • For the structural analysis of reinforced concrete structures, the mechanical properties of concrete at each temperature are required and the mechanical property values according to specific temperature are presented in the design regulations and codes. In this study, the mechanical properties of concrete were experimented by using 35MPa concrete produced in Korea from 20℃ to 900℃(two kinds of test method). Compared the results with previous domestic papers, we aimed to contribute to the construction of mechanical characteristics D.B. of at the elevated temperatures of domestically produced concrete which can be used for structural analysis in fire.
