  • This study examined the meaning of the experiences of university students majoring in occupational therapy, where their practice was discontinued due to COVID-19, and to provide basic data for future measures. This study was a phenomenological study. The subjects of this study were seven students. Interviews were analyzed according to Colaizzi data analysis. As a result of an interview, it was organized into 17 themes, six themes clusters, and two categories. The themes clusters were indifference, problem recognition, wandering, coping, aftermath, and anticipation for coping. The students experienced a confused and frustrating situation after recognizing the problem of COVID-19 and experienced anxiety and regret as they experienced the interruption of their fieldwork. The students expected all universities to implement a batch and quick response at the same time. In the future, a systematic communication and delivery system is needed to quickly prepare and implement countermeasures at the same time as institutions, associations, and universities.

  • Purpose: A change is expected in the pattern of respiratory viruses including human coronavirus (HCoV) after the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak. Accordingly, identifying the distribution of respiratory viruses before the COVID-19 outbreak is necessary. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the results of samples of nasal swabs collected from children under aged ≤18 years who were hospitalized at Myongji Hospital, Gyeonggi-do due to acute respiratory infections from 2017 to 2019. Viruses were detected by real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). Results: Out of 3,557 total patients, 3,686 viruses were detected with RT-PCR including coinfections. Of the 3,557 patients, 2,797 (78.6%) were confirmed as PCR-positive. Adenovirus and human rhinovirus (hRV) were detected throughout the year, and human enterovirus was most detected during summer. Respiratory syncytial virus, influenza virus, and HCoV were prevalent in winter. In patients with croup, parainfluenza virus was most frequently detected, followed by hRV and HCoV. The PCR positive rate in summer and winter differed significantly. Conclusions: Respiratory virus patterns in northwestern Gyeonggi-do were not much different from previously reported data. The data reported herein regarding respiratory virus epidemiological information before the COVID-19 outbreak can be used for use in comparative studies of respiratory virus patterns after the COVID-19 outbreak.

  • This study was aim to understand the relationship between uncertainty, social isolation, social support and resilience of coronavirus infectious diseases-19 (COVID-19) patients and to identify factors related to resilience. Data were carried out from March 7 to May 5, 2021, and a total of 200 questionnaires were used for data analysis. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple regression using SPSS WIN 24.0 program. As a result of the analysis, the lower the sense of social isolation, the higher the social support, the satisfaction with the explanation of isolation and the economic status of 'medium' were identified as related factors for resilience. Based on the above results, a systematic program should be developed and applied to improve the resilience of COVID-19 patients including strengthening social support through families and health care providers, reducing social isolation through non-face-to-face counseling, providing sufficient information about diseases, and providing economic support.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify anxiety and depression level for corona virus 19 among hospital nurses to the spread of COVID-19. Data were collected from 232 nurses in 5 hospitals from August to September in 2020 using questionnaire. Characteristics relative to variables were measured, and analyzed using SPSS 26.0 program for descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and pearson's correlation. The depression level differed according to gender. The anxiety about COVID-19 infection showed a significantly positive correlation to depression (r=.26, p<.001). Based on these results, several roles and coping strategies were suggested to help nurses recover and maintain their psychological stability and mental health.
