A Study on Difference of Internet Game Addiction Tendency According to The Game with Use (인터넷 게임 사용 실태에 따른 게임 중독 경향의 차이에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the usage of time for internet game in students of college and analyse the addiction and verify the relation between elements of the capacity of self-control and internet game addiction. The result show that the use time and the duration of daily internet game have influence on the internet game addiction(p<0.05) and also show that they have highly influence(+) on the relation elements of self-control : the trouble of studies, the loss of human relation, the confusion between the real and virtual, and the escapism.

  • Computer game addiction generally signifies excessive or unhealthy inclination for computer games. Game addicts spend great amount of their time engrossed in playing games while neglecting the real world. They have the tendency to neglect important responsibilities and isolate themselves from others. Instead, they place greater importance on their status, performance, and achievement in games. Virtual stores, virtual libraries, virtual cinema, virtual trade shows, virtual schools, virtual characters have been emerging due to the popularity of the internet. An ambiguous term virtual reality has appeared in addition to the word virtual. There also appeared alien and UFO syndrome. Such social phenomenon has brought about confusion of reality and virtual world in which things that do not exist are mistakenly believed to exist. This study focuses on virtual reality games and provides an assessment of the causes and the side effects of game addiction and proposes countermeasures.

The Influence of Stress of Children on Game Addiction -Focused on Moderating Effect of Family Support- (아동의 스트레스가 게임중독에 미치는 영향 -가족지지의 조절효과를 중심으로-)

  • The aim of this study is to identify whether the stress of children has an impact on their game addiction and to verify the moderating effect of family support. The survey was conducted to the children who were 5th and 6th graders in Gwangju and Jeonnam. The responses from 564 subjects contacted subjects were analyzed. In accordance with the verification on the impact game addiction, Children's stress has a impact on their game addiction. In other words, higer stress was related to higer game addiction. The impact family support on their game addiction was analyzed. In accordance with the results, the family support had positive impact on their game addiction. It suggested that higher family support meant lower game addiction. The moderated effect of family support was analyzed. The family support had the control effect to reduce the negative effect of stress of children in to their game addiction. Implication of the study findings is discussed.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest a countermeasure against a major cause that leads to game addiction, by grasping tendency of the actual condition for the online game use in freshmen for university and by analyzing relationship of game addiction according to factors. As a result of analyzing on relationship among sub-variables for game addiction, it could be known that the more men in gender leads to the more serious game addiction and that the longer game time given using once leads to the higher level in control loss and game addiction. Also, it was indicated that the more in group with high risk leads to the more serious in physical and mental problem. There is a suggestion that a scale related to game is developed for the expansion in counseling institution nationwide and for the preventive education targeting all the ages including undergraduates and adults as well as small children and children.

A Study on the Game Addiction of Children with Domestic Violence Experience (가정폭력을 경험한 아동의 게임중독 연구)

  • The aim of this study is to identify whether the domestic violence experience of children has an impact on their game addition and to verify the direct effects and moderating effects of social support. The survey was conducted to the children who were 5th and 6th graders in Gwangju and Jeonnam. The responses from 328 subjects of domestic violence experience from were analyzed. The analytic results are as the following. When verifying the impact of a domestic violence experience of children on their game addiction, domestict violence was found as the key variable that has a negative impact on children's game addiction. The results indicated that children with higher levels of domestict violence more likely to have higher levels of game addiction. Furthermore, boy's addiction degree to game was higher than girls' and lower education levels of mother, higher grades were found to be associated with higher game addiction. The impact of children's social support on their game addiction was analyzed. The analytic results suggest that social support has a impact on their game addiction. In other words, higher social support means lower game addiction. The moderating effect of social support was analyzed. Social support check the moderating effect of domestic violence of children on their game addiction. The Implications of these findings were discussed.

  • In this paper, we refer to positive effect and negative effect of game. And we inquire the recent trend of edutainment that emphasizes charm of game and educational effect at the same time. Because the simulation game and the role-playing game have strong toxication, the limitation of computer use is essential. Therefore, we present dynamic computer using-time control system for prevention of game toxicaton and for activity of educational contents. The method considered in this paper increases computer using-time n proportion to using of educational contents. So it lead user of computer to use educational contents voluntarily.

The Relations Between Elementary Pupils' Game Addiction, Aggression and Personality (초등학교 학생들의 게임 중독과 공격성 및 인성과의 관계)

  • The purpose of this study was to find out the relations between elementary children's game addition, aggression, and personality, by making a survey with 360 children of 5th and 6th grade in the Metropolitan are. The results were made as follows: First, as it examined the real condition of computer addition, it presented a low level of addiction. There was a meaningful difference according to their gender, however no meaningful differences were found between the grades. It found that the more they had game experience, game frequency, game concentration, the more they were addicted. Second, there were significant differences when investigated the relations of game addiction and aggression, students who were in severe addicted group showed more aggressive attitudes. Aggression in general, seemed less related to the gender, but related to the level of addiction, showing higher level of physical, linguistic, negative, indirect aggression in the more addicted group. Third, when it compared the difference between the general personality by the level of game addiction, there was a meaningful difference statistically in the addicted level of p<0.01. In detail, more addicted children showed low level of sociality, achievement, mobility, stability, and they showed lower figures in comparison with normal user group. It is interpreted that they dislike to get along with friends, and unstable emotionally.

The Mediation Model Verification of Interpersonal Skills on Impulsivity, Aggression and Game Addiction: Comparative analysis on School levels (충동성, 공격성과 게임중독의 관계에서 대인관계기술의 매개모형검증: 중고등학교급별 비교)

  • This study was to verify a related model between among Impulsivity, Aggression, Game Addiction, and Interpersonal Skills. Aggression was selected as prerequisite variables. And Interpersonal Skills was selected as a mediated variable. Which affected Game Addiction. Covariance structure analysis were conducted to test research hypotheses. The results are summarized as follows. The path coefficients of (Impulsivity$\rightarrow$Interpersonal Skills), (Impulsivity$\rightarrow$Game Addiction), (Aggression$\rightarrow$Skills), (Aggression$\rightarrow$Game Addiction), (Interpersonal Skills$\rightarrow$Game Addiction) were all significant. Second, it was proved that Impulsivity and Aggression played as inducting factors to their Game Addiction tendencies, and perceived Interpersonal Skills played as inhibiting factors which leads to decrease their Game Addiction tendencies. Third, the mediator effect of perceived Interpersonal Skills in the relation between Impulsivity, Aggression and Game Addiction was significant. Fourth, divided in school levels by and the result which analyzes, the middle school students interpersonal skills did not affect in game addiction. So there was not also a mediating effect. The high student the interpersonal skills which listens influences in game addiction. And mediating effect of interpersonal skills was. Therefore for the prevention and a treatment of game addiction the method to raise a interpersonal skills will be effective in the high students.

  • 국내에서 지난 몇 년간 컴퓨터 사용이나 인터넷 컴퓨터게임 중독에 관한 연구들이 대부분 중, 고등학교 수준의 청소년을 대상으로 하는 반면 초등학교 아동을 대상으로 한 실태 조사 및 관련 연구는 미흡한 편이다. 특히 초등학교 아동들이 보이는 대표적인 인터넷게임 과다사용이 컴퓨터게임 중독이라는 점을 고려해 볼 때 이에 관한 실태를 파악해보고 해결점을 모색해 봄으로써 중, 고등학교로 이어지는 컴퓨터 교육의 올바른 방향을 제시해 보고자 했으며 인터넷 게임이 초등학생들의 여가 생활 문화로 자리 매김하고 있는 현실에서 지도상 관망하기보다는 구체적이고 실제적인 대응책이 강구되어야 할 것이다. 또 인터넷 게임을 교육적으로 활용하는 측면도 많이 개발되고 있으므로 놀이와 학습을 병행하는 지도도 함께 이루어져야 할 것이다.

Tendencies toward Game Addiction in the Group of Adolescents with Highly-educated Parents (고학력부모를 둔 청소년의 게임중독 성향)

  • The purpose of this study is to research the reason of higher tendencies toward game addiction in the group of adolescents with highly educated parents than the group of adolescents with non-highly educated parents. The results show that the variables affecting adolescents' game addiction in the group of adolescents with highly educated parents are very different with those in the group of adolescents with non-highly educated parents. In the group of adolescents with highly educated parents, most of variables related to family function and communication types are not significantly affecting game addiction, while they are affecting in the group of adolescents with non-highly educated parents. This indicates that highly educated families might have particular family system related to stratification culture.
