  • In this paper, we examine Asymmetric Multi-Processing Environment to provide LDW service. Asymmetric Multi-Processing Environment consists of high-speed MCU to support rapid image processing and low-speed MCU for controlling with other ECU at the control domain. Also we designed rapid image process application and LDW application Software Component(SW-C) according to the development process rule of AUTOSAR. To communicate between two MCUs, timer based polling based IPC was designed. Also to communicate with other ECUs(Electronic Control Units), we designed CAN messages to provide alarm information and receiving CAN message to catch the Turn signal. We confirm the possibility of the various ADAS development using an Asymmetric Multi-Processing Environment and AUTOSAR platform. We also expect providing ISO 26262 functional safety.

  • Product line engineering(PLE) is one of the recent and effective reuse approaches that enables developing a number of applications by instantiating a core asset. Elements of a core asset are product line architecture(PLA), component, and decision model. Among these elements, PLA is the key element since it defines the overall structure of the core asset. Although numerous PLE methodologies have been introduced, it is still unclear what should be the elements of a PLA and how to systematically instantiate it for specific applications. Formal specifications can play a key role in defining detailed and precise instantiation process. In this paper, we first present a meta model of PLA and show how to specify PLA in a formal language, Object-Z. Then, we propose instantiation rules using formal specification and those rules precisely define constraints for instantiating PLA. By applying the proposed formal specification, we believe PLA instantiation can be carried out precisely and correctly, yielding high quality software development.

  • Mobile Devices, which are developed with the fast growing of the Internet, have flexible internet accessibility and can access the network anywere so that they can execute software applications. However, it is very challenging to deploy highly complex applications on mobile devices since they have limited resources. To overcome the limitation, researches on applying a concept of services to mobile applications have been proposed. Android is one of the popular mobile platforms and is designed to effectively execute mobile applications on the mobile devices having limited resources. Since service-based Android applications, which adopt a concept of services and Android platform, invoke remote services and are built with Android-specific components, they are much different from traditional software applications. Consequently, it is not straightforward to apply object-oriented (OO) analysis and design methods to developing service-based Android applications, although they have been frequently applied to developing traditional applications. In this paper, we present a process to develop service-based Android mobile applications, which extends a traditional OO development process. First, we raise design issues to be considered in developing service-based Android applications. Then, to solve the issues, we present detailed guidelines for essential phases of OO-based development process that are customized to service-based Android applications. Finally, to show applicability of the process, we perform a case study. The proposed design process is effectively utilized as a set of guidelines to develop service-based Android applications more systematically and effectively.

  • Cloud Computing is emerged as an effective reuse paradigm, where service providers operate hardware and software and as a service, and service consumers invoke the service through Internet. Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) is a type of cloud services, where the whole software is designed as a service so that several consumers can reuse the SaaS. While tradition software applications are developed for a specific organization, SaaS is developed for multiple users in the various organizations. Hence, reusability is very essential characteristic of SaaS. Reusability is defined as a metric of how effective and efficient software functionalities can be used by various users. Reusability in SaaS is evaluated by considering three sub-characteristics; applicability, adaptability, and scalability. Since such a SaaS has considerable differences and characteristics from traditional software applications, conventional methods including object-oriented modeling, component-based development method, and service-oriented architecture (SOA) service development method would be limited in developing services which can fulfill these three sub-characteristics related to reusability as well as SaaS-intrinsic characteristics. Hence, there is a great demand for effective processes for developing SaaS cloud services. In this paper, we present a practical process for developing SaaS, which focuses on ensuring reusability. And by performing a case study with our proposed SaaS development process, we evaluate applicability of our proposed process and explain how the process is used in a real domain. Then, we compare our proposed process with others for verifying our study. Through the proposed process, cloud services with high quality can be more effectively developed.

  • The World Wide Web is transitioning from being a mere collection of documents that contain useful information toward providing a collection of services that perform useful tasks. The emerging Web service technology has been envisioned as the next technological wave and is expected to play an important role in this recent transformation of the Web. By providing interoperable interface standards for application-to-application communication, Web services can be combined with component based software development to promote application interaction and integration both within and across enterprises. To make Web services for service-oriented computing operational, it is important that Web service repositories not only be well-structured but also provide efficient tools for developers to find reusable Web service components that meet their needs. As the potential of Web services for service-oriented computing is being widely recognized, the demand for effective Web service discovery mechanisms is concomitantly growing. A number of techniques for Web service discovery have been proposed, but the discovery challenge has not been satisfactorily addressed. Unfortunately, most existing solutions are either too rudimentary to be useful or too domain dependent to be generalizable. In this paper, we propose a Web service organizing framework that combines clustering techniques with string matching and leverages the semantics of the XML-based service specification in WSDL documents. We believe that this is one of the first attempts at applying data mining techniques in the Web service discovery domain. Our proposed approach has several appealing features : (1) It minimizes the requirement of prior knowledge from both service consumers and publishers; (2) It avoids exploiting domain dependent ontologies; and (3) It is able to visualize the semantic relationships among Web services. We have developed a prototype system based on the proposed framework using an unsupervised artificial neural network and empirically evaluated the proposed approach and tool using real Web service descriptions drawn from operational Web service registries. We report on some preliminary results demonstrating the efficacy of the proposed approach.

  • Recently due to the advancements of science and information technology, the socio-economic business areas are changing from the industrial economy to a knowledge economy. Furthermore, companies need to do creation of new value through continuous innovation, development of core competencies and technologies, and technological convergence. Therefore, the identification of major trends in technology research and the interdisciplinary knowledge-based prediction of integrated technologies and promising techniques are required for firms to gain and sustain competitive advantage and future growth engines. The aim of this paper is to understand the recent research trend in management of technology (MOT) and to foresee promising technologies with deep knowledge for both technology and business. Furthermore, this study intends to give a clear way to find new technical value for constant innovation and to capture core technology and technology convergence. Bibliometrics is a metrical analysis to understand literature's characteristics. Traditional bibliometrics has its limitation not to understand relationship between trend in technology management and technology itself, since it focuses on quantitative indices such as quotation frequency. To overcome this issue, the network focused bibliometrics has been used instead of traditional one. The network focused bibliometrics mainly uses "Co-citation" and "Co-word" analysis. In this study, a keywords network analysis, one of social network analysis, is performed to analyze recent research trend in MOT. For the analysis, we collected keywords from research papers published in international journals related MOT between 2002 and 2011, constructed a keyword network, and then conducted the keywords network analysis. Over the past 40 years, the studies in social network have attempted to understand the social interactions through the network structure represented by connection patterns. In other words, social network analysis has been used to explain the structures and behaviors of various social formations such as teams, organizations, and industries. In general, the social network analysis uses data as a form of matrix. In our context, the matrix depicts the relations between rows as papers and columns as keywords, where the relations are represented as binary. Even though there are no direct relations between papers who have been published, the relations between papers can be derived artificially as in the paper-keyword matrix, in which each cell has 1 for including or 0 for not including. For example, a keywords network can be configured in a way to connect the papers which have included one or more same keywords. After constructing a keywords network, we analyzed frequency of keywords, structural characteristics of keywords network, preferential attachment and growth of new keywords, component, and centrality. The results of this study are as follows. First, a paper has 4.574 keywords on the average. 90% of keywords were used three or less times for past 10 years and about 75% of keywords appeared only one time. Second, the keyword network in MOT is a small world network and a scale free network in which a small number of keywords have a tendency to become a monopoly. Third, the gap between the rich (with more edges) and the poor (with fewer edges) in the network is getting bigger as time goes on. Fourth, most of newly entering keywords become poor nodes within about 2~3 years. Finally, keywords with high degree centrality, betweenness centrality, and closeness centrality are "Innovation," "R&D," "Patent," "Forecast," "Technology transfer," "Technology," and "SME". The results of analysis will help researchers identify major trends in MOT research and then seek a new research topic. We hope that the result of the analysis will help researchers of MOT identify major trends in technology research, and utilize as useful reference information when they seek consilience with other fields of study and select a new research topic.
