  • BigCloneBench has recently been used for performance evaluation of code clone detection tool using machine learning. However, since BigCloneBench is not a benchmark that is optimized for machine learning, incorrect learning data can be created. In this paper, we have shown through experiments using machine learning that the set of Type-4 clone methods provided by BigCloneBench can additionally be found. Experimental results using Tree-Based Convolutional Neural Network show that our proposed method is effective in improving BigCloneBench's dataset.

  • Semantic segmentation, which is the most basic and complicated problem in computer vision, classifies each pixel of an image into a specific object and performs a task of specifying a label. MRF and CRF, which have been studied in the past, have been studied as effective methods for improving the accuracy of pixel level labeling. In this paper, we propose a semantic partitioning method that combines CNN, a kind of deep running, which is in the spotlight recently, and CRF, a probabilistic model. For learning and performance verification, Pascal VOC 2012 image database was used and the test was performed using arbitrary images not used for learning. As a result of the study, we showed better partitioning performance than existing semantic partitioning algorithm.

  • As the inventory of aged apartments is expected to increase explosively, the importance of maintenance to improve the durability of concrete facilities is increasing. Concrete compressive strength is a representative index of durability of concrete facilities, and is an important item in the precision safety diagnosis for facility maintenance. However, existing methods for measuring the concrete compressive strength and determining the maintenance of concrete facilities have limitations such as facility safety problem, high cost problem, and low reliability problem. In this study, we proposed a model that can predict the concrete compressive strength through images by using deep convolution neural network technique. Learning, validation and testing were conducted by applying the concrete compressive strength dataset constructed through the concrete specimen which is produced in the laboratory environment. As a result, it was found that the concrete compressive strength could be learned by using the images, and the validity of the proposed model was confirmed.

  • The current TW3 - based maximum height prediction technique used in KMAA(Korean Medical Academy of Auxology) is manual and subjective, and it requires a lot of time and effort in the medical treatment, while the interest in the child's growth is very high. In addition, the technique of classifying images using deep learning, especially convolutional neural networks, is used in many fields at a more accurate level than the human eyes, also there is no exception in the medical field. In this paper, we introduce a TW3 algorithm using deep learning, that uses the convolutional neural network to predict the growth level of the left hand bone, to predict the maximum height of child and youth in order to increase the reliability of predictions and improve the convenience of the doctor.

  • This paper is a study to evaluate the performance when classifying explosive components by capacity using a convolutional neural network (CNN). Among the existing explosive classification methods, the IMS steam detector method determines the presence or absence of an explosive only when the explosive concentration exceeds the threshold set by the user. The IMS steam detector has a problem of determining that even if an explosive exists, the explosive does not exist in an amount that does not exceed the threshold. Therefore, it is necessary to detect the explosive component even when the concentration of the explosive component does not exceed the threshold. Accordingly, in this paper, after imaging explosive time series data with the Gramian Angular Field (GAF) algorithm, it is possible to determine whether there are explosive components and the amount of explosive components even when the concentration of explosive components does not exceed a threshold.

  • Since the study of deep convolutional neural network became prevalent, one of the important discoveries is that a feature map from a convolutional network can be extracted before going into the fully connected layer and can be used as a saliency map for object detection. Furthermore, the model can use features from each different layer for accurate object detection: the features from different layers can have different properties. As the model goes deeper, it has many latent skip connections and feature maps to elaborate object detection. Although there are many intermediate layers that we can use for semantic segmentation through skip connection, still the characteristics of each skip connection and the best skip connection for this task are uncertain. Therefore, in this study, we exhaustively research skip connections of state-of-the-art deep convolutional networks and investigate the characteristics of the features from each intermediate layer. In addition, this study would suggest how to use a recent deep neural network model for semantic segmentation and it would therefore become a cornerstone for later studies with the state-of-the-art network models.

  • Recently, the convolution neural network (CNN) model at a single image super-resolution (SISR) have been very successful. The residual learning method can improve training stability and network performance in CNN. In this paper, we propose a SISR using recursive residual network architecture by introducing dense skip connections for learning nonlinear mapping from low-resolution input image to high-resolution target image. The proposed SISR method adopts a method of the recursive residual learning to mitigate the difficulty of the deep network training and remove unnecessary modules for easier to optimize in CNN layers because of the concise and compact recursive network via dense skip connection method. The proposed method not only alleviates the vanishing-gradient problem of a very deep network, but also get the outstanding performance with low complexity of neural network, which allows the neural network to perform training, thereby exhibiting improved performance of SISR method.

  • There have been active research activities to use neural networks to analyze OCT images and make medical decisions. One requirement for these approaches to be promising solutions is that the trained network must be generalized to new devices without a substantial loss of performance. In this paper, we use a deep convolutional neural network to distinguish AMD from normal patients. The network was trained using a data set generated from an OCT device. We observed a significant performance degradation when it was applied to a new data set obtained from a different OCT device. To overcome this performance degradation, we propose an image normalization method which performs segmentation of OCT images to identify the retina area and aligns images so that the retina region lies horizontally in the image. We experimentally evaluated the performance of the proposed method. The experiment confirmed a significant performance improvement of our approach.
