목 적 : 씨클로포스파미드(Cyclophosphamide, CP)는 많은 종양 질환에서 단독 혹은 다른 화학요법과 함께 사용되는 항암제이다. CP의 독성과 부작용으로 출혈성 방광염이 많은 문제를 일으키고 있다. CP로 유도된 방광염 모델은 하부요로의 통증질환을 이해하기 위한 내장성 통증의 주요한 모델로 사용되고 있다. 본 연구는 암컷 백서에서 CP로 유도된 방광의 과활동성에 대한 침의 효과를 관찰하기 위해 요류역학검사를 수행하였다. 방 법 : CP (200 mg/kg) 투여 18시간 후에, 지속적 생리식염수 관류 (분당 0.04 ml) 로 방광내압 측정을 통해 방광기능을 평가하였다. 관류 2시간 이후부터, 위중/곤륜 100 Hz, 위중/곤륜 2 Hz, 족삼리/삼음교 100 Hz, 족삼리/삼음교 2Hz 전침 자극을 하여 자침 전후의 방광수축간격(intercontraction interval, ICI)을 비교하였다. 결 과 : 방광내압 측정하는 동안, 방광수축간격은 CP로 유도된 방광염 모델에서 정상군에서 보다 유의하게 짧았다. CP로 유도된 방광염 모델에서, 위중/곤륜 100Hz 전침 자극은 자침 전보다 통계적으로 유의하게 $40.6\;{\pm}\;10.9\;%$ 증가시켰고, 2Hz 전침 자극은 자침 전보다 현저하게 $22.1\;{\pm}\;13.7\;%$ 증가시켰다. 반면에, 족삼리/삼음교 전침 자극은 100Hz, 강 2Hz 전침 자극 각각 $13.7\;{\pm}\;8.1\;%,\;8.7\;{\pm}\;4.5\;%$ 약간 증가시켰다. 결 론 : 족태양방광경의 경혈에 100Hz 전칩 자극을 하여 CP로 유도된 방광의 과활동성을 억제하였다. 이러한 결과는 침 자극으로 CP로 유도된 혹은 다른 종류의 방광염을 치료하는데 효과적일 것임을 시사한다. 또한, 특정 경락의 경혈과 해당 장부의 질환의 치료에 연관성을 보여준다.

This is a clinical report on a patient with Diabetes Mellitus treated with Traditional Korean Medicine. We applied herbal medication and western medication depending of symptoms of the patient. We observed the change of serum glucose (FBS/PP2hrs) daily and HbA1c. During the treatment and observation, result of serum glucose (FBS/PP2hrs) and HbA1c was well controlled and insulin administration was decreased. Above the results, Traditional Korean Medicine was effective to control type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Therapeutic effect of Customized yinyang Balancing Appliance (CBA) of functional cerebrospinal therapy (FCST) for meridian and neurological yinyang balance was observed in infertility case. One infertility case was managed with the CBA, combined with acupuncture and herb-medicine. Clinical outcome measurement was based on subjective measures and clinical observations. The patient showed positive changes in subjective symptoms after the treatment and this effect maintained over the follow-up period. And the patient gave a birth to a female child. Further clinical and biological research on FCST is expected.

Acupuncture is a complementary medical treatment whose use in cancer patients has been recommended by the American Cancer Society (ACS) for the treatment of cancer and treatment-related symptoms. Pain, nausea, breathlessness, vasomotor symptoms and limb edema have all been found to respond to this treatment modality. This has become quite familiar to many Koreans not only for pain, but also for many other health problems, both in acute and chronic conditions. Actually, acupuncture is a therapeutic technique that is part of a larger system of traditional oriental medicine. There are several styles of acupuncture. We treated one 72-year-old female patient with Dongshiqixue Acupuncture Technique who had refused surgical operation for brain meningioma showing right hemiparesis, dysarthria, headache and dizziness. During the acupuncture treatment, there were no other adverse effects. After six day's treatment, she could ambulate and make usual life all by herself. On her brain magnetic resonence image follow-up, there was no interval change in meningioma. After discharged from our hospital, she has kept up her independent daily life as before. So it is suggested that some acupuncture treatment should be effect on brain meningioma clinically.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to collect and analyze studies on acupuncture therapies for treatment of voiding difficulty in stroke patients and to suggest methods of study for acupuncture therapies. Methods: Electronic searches were performed on search sites including NDSL, 국회도서관, RISS4U, DBPIA, KISS, KMBASE, KoreaMed, 한국전통지식포탈, OASIS, Pubmed, CNKI, using the search words ‘중풍’, ‘뇌졸중’, ‘stroke’, ‘배뇨장애’, ‘voiding’, ‘urinary’, ‘incontinence’, ‘retention’, ‘ ’, ‘침치료’, and ‘acupuncture’ as single or combined keywords, from January 1990 to August 2013 with language limitation, Korean, English, Chinese. Also, quality of the studies were evaluated using Jadad score. Results: The searches identified 16 studies for selection and analysis. In the present study, voiding difficulty includes urinary incontinence and urinary retention. The acupuncture points CV4, SP6, and CV3 were the most frequently used. Treatments were most frequently applied daily. The times and terms of acupuncture treatment, were most frequently 30 minutes per treatment for 4 weeks Conclusions: The acupuncture therapies were effective in the treatment of voiding difficulty in stroke patients, but the study of acupuncture therapy as a treatment for this issue in stroke patients needs to be standardized and high-quality study models should be introduced.

A fifteen-year-old spayed female Pug was referred to Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital of Seoul National University. The clinical sign was a restriction of the movement of the headneck and acutely presented for 5 days ago. On the basis of physical, laboratory and radiological examinations, the dog was diagnosed acute torticollis (wry neck). We treated two times the dog with acupuncture therapy for 2 weeks. The acupuncture points BL10, BL11, LU7 and SI3 were used. When the dog was rechecked at three weeks after the therapy, torticollis was disappeared and voluntarily head movement found. Thus, it is suggested that traditional acupuncture might be effective therapy for acute torticollis.

One male Arabian horse, 13-year-old reared in Galway, Ireland, was diagnosed as laminitis. Hemo-acupuncture at TH01, SI01 and ST45 was used. Injection acupuncture with dexamethasone was also applied at the same acupoints after homo-acupuncture twice a week. Bee-venom was injected into GV01 at session 2. After session 3, the patient showed almost normal walking.

Eating disorders is a significant failure on the dietary behavior, can be distinguished by anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa. For the treatment of eating disorders, screening for medical conditions and hospitalizations are needed. Also, medications such as antidepressants may be helpful, and it should be considered a dynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and family therapy together. Recently we experienced a 24-year-old woman who was accompanied with binge eating at night, habitual vomiting, dizziness, anorexia, and general weakness. We applied Banhabaeckchulchunma-tang and acupunture treatment during 2 weeks. Through this program, patient's condition was improved on body mass index and Eating Attitude Test-26.

Objective : A highly effective treatment for interstitial cystitis (IC) remains elusive. We determined whether acupuncture might be effective in relieving symptoms of IC. Method : A consecutive patient(F/67yrs) with symptoms and cystoscopic findings compatible with IC underwent one month of continuous acupuncture by way of needles inserted into acupuncture points which are known to be effective for the symptoms of cystitis. Patient filled out voiding frequency, pain and urgency score charts during treatment. Results : Acupuncture significantly improved all measured parameters toward normal values. Voiding frequency decreased twofold from 41 to 18 voids daily the end of treatment. Pelvic pain on a scale of 1 to 10 decreased from 10 to 2.8. Urinary urgency on a scale of I to 10 decreased from 10 to 5.2. Conclusions : Acupuncture significantly decreased symptoms in a patient with IC. These results suggest that acupuncture may be beneficial in treating IC.

목적 : 이 실험의 목적은 경혈에 대한 침자극이 대뇌피질에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가에 대하여 체계적이고 객관적으로 증명하는 것이다. 방법 : 시각과 관련이 있는 광명(GB37), 청각과 관련이 있는 협계(GB43) 및 외관(SJ5)을 자극하고 fMRI를 통하여 대뇌피질의 활성정도를 관찰하였다. 결과 : 이들 경혈의 자극으로 시각과 청각과 관련된 피질의 활성이 나타났다. 자극에 의한 대뇌피질 활성을 fMRI를 통하여 고찰한 결과 특정한 경혈의 자극이 대뇌피질을 활성화시킨다는 사실을 알 수 있었다. 결론 : 치료 효과는 그 경혈의 자극에 의한 대뇌피질의 활성과 관련이 있음을 말하는 것으로, 경혈지극과 대뇌와의 상관성을 증명하는 것이다.
