The purposes of this study were to clarify the effect of tooth size and arch size upon the crowding. 175 upper casts were measured and following conclusions were made. 1. Tooth size, intermolar width, 2nd premolar width of crowded group were not significantly different from those of noncrowded groups. 2. Intercanine width, arch length of noncrowded group were significantly larger than crowded group. 3. Multiple regression equations were derived by using tooth size, arch perimeter, arch length, intermolar width.

To design the acceptable prejusted bracket for Korean using straight wire appliance, teeth and dental arch of Korean were studied and brackets were made. It was named Oriental Bracket. The results were following. 1. The bracket position for Korean occlusion was obtained. 2. The axial inclinations of each tooth were obtained. 3. The crown torques of each tooth were obtained. 4. The thickness of each tooth was obtained. 5. The bracket (Oriental bracket) was made according to these data.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of malocclusion and orthodontic treatment on the self-esteem of adolescents. Methods: The subjects were composed of 3509 female middle school students. Each subject was evaluated with Rosenberg's Self-esteem Scale to measure the level of self-esteem and also evaluated the degree of crowding and soft tissue profile. Results: Results showed that protrusion of lip area had no effects on self-esteem but crowding of upper anterior teeth had significant effects. The fixed orthodontic treatment group and the removable orthodontic treatment group reported no significant difference in self-esteem from the no orthodontic treatment experience group, but the debonding group showed significantly higher Self-esteem index. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that anterior teeth alignment has influence on the self-esteem of female adolescents.

Dental environments are easily exposed to hospital microorganisms, so the risk of infection among workers is very high. Hand washing is one of the most important and basic way to reduce the risk of infection, as hands are an important medium of infection. Therefore, a convergence study was conducted between hand washing and health belief in orthodontic clinic. Analysis of differences between hand washing and health beliefs showed a significant relationship between importance of hand washing and experience in hand washing education (p=0.010) (p=0.000). Analysis of factors affecting health beliefs showed that the importance of hand washing control (p=0.014) and hands washing education experience (p=0.010) were significantly influencing factors. Infections management education is believed to be highly relevant in establishing a health when increasing interest in dental infections is expected to increase the importance of hand washing, a basic method.
