A Study on the Dynamic Range Expansion of the Shack-Hartmann Wavefront Sensor using Image Processing (영상처리 기법을 이용한 샥-하트만 파면 센서의 측정범위 확장에 대한 연구)

  • The Shack-Hartmann wavefront sensor is composed of a lenslet array generating the spot images from which local slope is calculated and overall wavefront is measured. Generally the principle of wavefront reconstruction is that the spot centroid of each lenslet array is calculated from pixel intensity values in its subaperture, and then overall wavefront is reconstructed by the local slope of the wavefront obtained by deviations from reference positions. Hence the spot image of each lenslet array has to remain in its subaperture for exact measurement of the wavefront. However the spot of each lenslet array deviates from its subaperture area when a wavefront with large local slopes enters the Shack-Hartmann sensor. In this research, we propose a spot image searching method that finds the area of each measured spot image flexibly and determines the centroid of each spot in its area Also the algorithms that match these centroids to their reference points unequivocally, even if some of them are situated off the allocated subaperture, are proposed. Finally we verify the proposed algorithm with the test of a defocus measurement through experimental setup for the Shack-Hartmann wavefront sensor. It has been shown that the proposed algorithm can expand the dynamic range without additional devices.

  • 본 논문은 그루빙(grooving), 타이닝(tining), 텍스쳐(texture) 등의 포장도로의 표면 상태를 차량에 장착된 고성능의 레이저 변위센서를 사용하여 주행 중에 정밀하게 측정하는 도로 표면 측정 장비 개발에 관한 논문이다. 본 논문에서는 전체 시스템을 설계 및 시험제작 하였으며, 차량 주행을 모사한 실험 모형을 이용한 실내 실험 및 시험도로에서의 실제 도로 표면 측정 실험을 실시하였다. 실내 포장도면 모사장비를 이용한 실험 결과 타이닝 폭 오차 2%, 깊이 오차 4%(60km/h)를 얻었으며, 실외에서 차량에 레이저센서를 장착 후 측정한 실험에서는 폭 오차 3.24%, 깊이 오차 5% (50km/h)가 측정되었다. 이러한 실험 결과를 토대로 시험도로 상의 실제 도로 표면 측정 실험에서는 25mm, 18mm, 26mm, 그리고 임의의 간격의 횡 방향 및 종 방향 타이닝을 측정하였고 이를 확인하였다.

  • 본 연구에서는 Mobile Smart Device와 Bluetooth 기반의 휴대용 센서 모듈을 이용하여 Bluetooth 기반의 USN을 구성하여 상시 건강 관리를 위한 데이터를 측정하고 건강 가이드를 제공하는 Lifestyle 측정 시스템을 설계, 구현하였다. 운동, 도보 등 상시 활동량을 측정하기 위해 3축 가속도 센서로 움직임을 측정하고 Bluetooth 통신을 통해 Mobile Smart Device로 측정 데이터를 전송할 수 있는 LSM(Lifestyle Sensor Module)과 전송된 측정 데이터를 Android Mobile Smart Device를 사용하여 상시 활동량 데이터를 저장, 처리하여 분석결과에 의한 건강 가이드를 제공하는 Android App을 설계 구현하였다. 활동량을 분석하기 위해 3축 가속도 센서로 측정한 2G, 4G, 8G, 16G 3축 데이터를 에너지 값으로 변경 후 임계값을 다양하게 변경하면서 에너지 값을 분석하여 최적의 임계값을 도출하였다.

  • A fiber Bragg grating sensor is considered a smart sensor that shows outstanding performance in the field of structural health monitoring (SHM). It has a powerful advantage, especially that of multiplexing, which enables several parameters to be sensed at multiple points by using a single optical fiber line. Among several parameters, the thermal expansion coefficient and thermo-optic coefficient are required to measure temperature. In previous studies, these were considered constant variables. This study shows that two parameters vary with temperature and newly proposes a temperature function for these two parameters. Specifically, these two parameters were defined as a single variable, and then, it was experimentally verified that this variable is a function of temperature. Finally, it was shown that temperature from RT to $100^{\circ}C$ was precisely measured by using the temperature function that was defined through the experiment.

  • Measurment of dynamic strain is important to monitor structural integrity. In this paper, the new type of EFPI is proposed to measure the dynamic strain. The second reflecting surface of fiber in this new sensor is deposited gold on to increase its reflectivity. So, it is called the gold-deposited EFPI (G-EFPI) in this paper. In order to explain the principle of measurement of the dynamic strain, two models for the loss of intensity are proposed and an experiment is performed. If a cavity between two reflecting surface increases, the loss of the light that passes through the cavity increases, causing a subsequent decrease in the output intensity of the sensor. Conversely, if the cavity decreases, the amount of loss decreases and the output intensity increases. Also the optimal length of the cavity is proposed to manufacture the G-EFPI with high sensitivity. Finally, the dynamic strainof a composite specimen was measured successfully using the G-EFPI.

  • This paper is presented an accurate localization scheme for mobile robots based on the fusion of ultrasonic satellite (U-SAT) with inertial navigation system (INS), i.e., sensor fusion. Our aim is to achieve enough accuracy less than 100 mm. The INS consist of a yaw gyro, two wheel-encoders. And the U-SAT consist of four transmitters, a receiver. Besides the localization method in this paper fuse these in an extended Kalman filter. The performance of the localization is verified by simulation and two actual data(straight, curve) gathered from about 0.5 m/s of driving actual driving data. localization methods used are general sensor fusion and sensor fusion through Kalman filter using data from INS. Through the simulation and actual data studies, the experiment show the effectiveness of the proposed method for autonomous mobile robots.

A Study on the Tool Vibration Measurement Using the Fiber Optic Interferometric Sensor in Lathe Cutting Process (광섬유 간섭계 센서를 이용한 선삭가공 공구진동 측정 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to measure the lathe tool vibration and verify its usefulness using the fiber optic interferometeric sensor instead of using common accelerometer. To compare two vibration signals a Fabry-Perot fiber optic sensor(FOS) is directly attached to the left-side surface of the lathe tool and an accelerometer is attached near to the fiber optic sensor. Measurement signals from the FOS and theoretical results of receptance simulation are compared. When the amplitude of tool vibration increased the frequency shift phenomena was occurred. This means that mass effect occurred and vibration spectrum moved to the low frequency region. Generally this results is agreement to the regenerative chatter. The chatter frequency is not same as the natural frequency of the tool itself. The FOS can also applied to laboratory experiments for students. This experimental technique is perhaps the first attempts because of directly attachment technique. Therefore, suggested Fabry-Perot fiber optic sensor can be used to monitoring the tool wear and vibration.

  • A servo type angle of attack sensor using the null-seeking method is designed and its characteristics are analyzed in this study. Angle-of-attack in the null-seeking method is given by the probe rotation angle with respect to the body reference line when pressure difference measured in two holes on the probe becomes zero. This method provides highly accurate and uniform angle-of-attack measurements over all range. Hence, this kind of angle-of-attack sensor is adequate for unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs). In this paper, we first analyze the requirements for developing angle-of-attack sensors. And the servo type angle-of-attack sensor is then designed and fabricated. The on-board angle-of-attack calculation algorithm is also developed. Finally, the characteristics of the developed angle-of-attack sensor are identified through MATLAB Simulink and wind tunnel tests.

  • A robust, accurate, broad-band, alternating current sensor using fiber-optics is being developed as a part of optical over current protection relay system. The sensor uses the Faraday effect in optical fiber and polarimetric measurements tc sense electrical current. The current sensing coil consists of a length of twisted optical fiber and Faraday rotator mirror to suppress the linear birefringence effect. Due to its single-ended closed path structure, it can not only be easily installed to the target with great isolation from other fields in the vicinity, but the sensitivity can be increased by using multiple turns. This paper reports on the theoretical backgrounds of the sensor design and the preliminary experimental results.
