Semiparametric Approach to Logistic Model with Random Intercept (준모수적 방법을 이용한 랜덤 절편 로지스틱 모형 분석)

  • Logistic models with a random intercept are useful to analyze longitudinal binary data. Traditionally, the random intercept of the logistic model is assumed to be parametric (such as normal distribution) and is also assumed to be independent to variables. Such assumptions are very strong and restricted for application to real data. Recently, Garcia and Ma (2015) derived semiparametric efficient estimators for logistic model with a random intercept without these assumptions. Their estimator shows the consistency where we do not assume any parametric form for the random intercept. In addition, the method is computationally simple. In this paper, we apply this method to analyze toenail infection data. We compare the semiparametric estimator with maximum likelihood estimator, penalized quasi-likelihood estimator and hierarchical generalized linear estimator.

  • In estimating designed architectural buildings, many factors in various design domains such as function, structure, form, environment may be considered and then a building design might be selected or modified as final design. This paper proposed a method to obtain complexity values from two dimensional drawings which are floor plans or elevations. The method has been developed based on information theory, shape pattern representation and cognitive theory. Results of measuring complexity value can make the computer evaluate and select final results produced from automatic design processes by the computer That is to say, aesthetic values based on order and chaos can be measured using complexity values and then some results having superior values can be selected as final result.

  • Among the geophysical exploration methods, electromagnetic method(EM) has the broadest range of instrumental systems and remarkable range of applications. There are a lot of available techniques and instruments which have different depth of investigation and resolution depending on the operating frequency and source-receiver configuration. Furthermore, it is very easy to apply on the engineering and environmental problems since modern EM equipments are remarkably portable, considering their sophistication. Even though electromagnetic theory is very complex and not easy to understand, rapid avances in recent computer technology have made it possible to conduct accurate forward modeling and inversion of various EM exploration data. Here, we are going to provide brief theoretical principles, survey techniques and case histories of some selected EM methods that can be applied to geotechnical and environmental problems in Korea.

Complexity Metrics for Analysis Classes in the Unified Software Development Process (Unified Process의 분석 클래스에 대한 복잡도 척도)

  • Object-Oriented (OO) methodology to use the concept like encapsulation, inheritance, polymorphism, and message passing demands metrics that are different from structured methodology. There are many studies for OO software metrics such as program complexity or design metrics. But the metrics for the analysis class need to decrease the complexity in the analysis phase so that greatly reduce the effort and the cost of system development. In this paper, we propose new metrics to measure the complexity of analysis classes which draw out in the analysis phase based on Unified Process. By the collaboration complexity, is denoted by CC, we mean the maximum number of the collaborations can be achieved with each of the collaborator and detennine the potential complexity. And the interface complexity, is denoted by IC, shows the difficulty related to understand the interface of collaborators each other. We prove mathematically that the suggested metrics satisfy OO characteristics such as class size and inheritance. And we verify it theoretically for Weyuker' s nine properties. Moreover, we show the computation results for analysis classes of the system which automatically respond to questions of the it's user using the text mining technique. As we compared CC and IC to CBO and WMC, the complexity can be represented by CC and IC more than CBO and WMC. We expect to develop the cost-effective OO software by reviewing the complexity of analysis classes in the first stage of SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle).

  • The purpose of our study is to confirm the usefulness of our new youth entrepreneurship program. In this study, I suggest design thinking as a new Youth entrepreneurship program which is consist of 9 dimensions: opportunity discovery, opportunity utilization, creativity capacity, career preparation behavior, entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial intention, self-preservation, social problem solving, and educational program objectives. To verify this new program, I conduct a pilot test in middle school and high school; the sample target is randomly selected one class in each school. My main finding is two. First, our new program successfully improves Youth entrepreneurship. Particularly, the improvement of opportunity utilization and entrepreneurial intention are prominent. As reasons, studies about food industry entrepreneurship is an unfamiliar subject for adolescent. Considering that entrepreneurial intention rapidly changes after the experience of entrepreneurial education, researchers need to focus on this variable. Second, I confirm the effects of gender, motivation, prior experience, interest oneself and other's recommendation about the entrepreneurship program. As a result, gender and prior experience do not have an important influence. On the other hand, voluntary interest and other's recommendation are influential. The most important factor is the influence of a teacher. Therefore, researchers need to examine the more specific mechanism of each dimension in the future.

  • The army of republic of korea have been continued to transform their logistics support system structure for better efficient logistics support system in preparation for the future environment. Logistics system has supply network structure which is connected by various units and supply network structure received attention as a factor of success of supply network. Many researchers have continuously researched inventory management, transportation or economy factors for supply network, but such a study on the one in military supply network structure analysis is still slower than the study of analysis of other factors until now. In this study, we identify military supply network structure influence factor by application of social network analysis method which is used broadly and analyze co-relationships between supply network structure influence factor and valued APL(average path length) as a criteria of efficiency of military supply network. By this study it has value of military supply network influence factor identification for the better military supply network fabrication.

A Spatial Statistical Approach to Migration Studies: Exploring the Spatial Heterogeneity in Place-Specific Distance Parameters (인구이동 연구에 대한 공간통계학적 접근: 장소특수적 거리 패러미터의 추출과 공간적 패턴 분석)

  • This study is concerned with providing a reliable procedure of calibrating a set of places specific distance parameters and with applying it to U.S. inter-State migration flows between 1985 and 1900. It attempts to conform to recent advances in quantitative geography that are characterized by an integration of ESDA(exploratory spatial data analysis) and local statistics. ESDA aims to detect the spatial clustering and heterogeneity by visualizing and exploring spatial patterns. A local statistic is defined as a statistically processed value given to each location as opposed to a global statistic that only captures an average trend across a whole study region. Whereas a global distance parameter estimates an averaged level of the friction of distance, place-specific distance parameters calibrate spatially varying effects of distance. It is presented that a poisson regression with an adequately specified design matrix yields a set of either origin-or destination-specific distance parameters. A case study demonstrates that the proposed model is a reliable device of measuring a spatial dimension of migration, and that place-specific distance parameters are spatially heterogeneous as well as spatially clustered.

  • Efficiency of the construction process is one of the most important factors to project success. However efficiency is not well defined or measured in construction projects in general. More importantly, efficiency of the construction should be viewed through the life-cycle of the whole production system not in a single phase of the construction process. Therefore, this study defines the concept of efficiency and suggests the efficiency measurement model in construction. As a case study, the suggested model was applied to the curtain wall construction process of the high rise buildings as well.

  • Performance testing for ATM network deals with evaluation of maximal throughput of network by measuring and analyzing of various performance parameters. However, because of the absence of the methodology and framework for performance testing, the results of performance measurements for same implementation under test were much relied on tester. In this paper, the concept of ATM performance testing is described in both cell and frame level and a framework of ATM performance testing is suggested by describing of testing environment for performance measurement and requirements of performance evaluation. For this, we define performance measuring method and parameters for each case.

  • Knowledge management was introduced as a new strategy in many construction companies aiming at paradigm shift since Asian financial Crisis. However, intensive focusing on acquiring and sharing knowledge couldn't keep pace with the primary goal. Increasing financial profits. That is because clear strategic process and performance measurement are absent in time of the introduction of knowledge management. Based on case analysis in domestic construction industry, this research work presents an alternative plan on Balanced Scorecard(BSC) model. The objective of this study is to develop a model of strategic performance measurement in knowledge management by sorting and grasping core operational knowledge, which can draw key performance indicators accompanied by knowledge map from case study.
