The Effects of Confined Rates Side Wall of Pen for Evacuation Behaviors of Pigs (돈방 측벽마감율이 돼지의 배분 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • An experiment was conducted to examine environmental influences upon the behavioral pattern of pigs. The resting areas of an enclosed growing-finishing pig house were checked in two seasonal ventilation systems, and the excretion habit of pigs influenced by the different closing rates (50, 75 and 100%) of side walls of pens was surveyed. 1. The excretion habit of pigs was not influenced by temperature, humidity and the flow speed of running air as they excreted in a fixed area of the side walls. However, the lighting effects on the excretion habit was observed because pigs excreted in the darkest area of the pig pen. 2. The accumulated height and width of feces showed 10 and 30 cm; 5 and 25cm; and 3 and 20cm for 50, 75 and 100% of closing rates of side walls, respectively. It indicates that pigs excrete all over the floor in the pen with 100% closed side walls. 3. Ammonia concentrations of the resting areas on the pen floor were determined to 4.2, 5.1 and $5.8mg/{\ell}$ for 50, 75 and 100% of closing rates of side walls, respectively. It indicates that the ammonia concentration was highest in the pen with 100% closed side walls. Thus, the high ammonia concentration of the resting areas could be reduced by illuminating the darker areas with relation to the excretion habit. 4. The flow speed of running air was likely the biggest factor influencing the resting areas of pigs; pigs took a rest at the place of 0.04 m/s air flow speed point during midwinter, and at the place of 0.24 m/s air flow speed point during midsummer.

  • Livestock buildings are rural facilities as vulnerable to natural disasters as vinyl houses. Many of livestock buildings have a roof but without side walls. The roof of such structures is easily blown away by a typhoon and this results in a heavy loss. Therefore, farmers install winch curtains on the sides to prevent damages caused by typhoons. This study purposed to examine the distribution of wind pressure coefficient among different positions of livestock shed roof according to the opening of side walls. It was found that according to the distribution of peak external pressure coefficient on the roof surface of livestock shed, the wind blowing at wind angle $0^{\circ}$ was disadvantageous to roof surface regardless of the presence of side walls. However, it was confirmed that the peak external pressure coefficient was affected by wind angle and the length of eave depending on the presence of side walls.

Rates and Factors of Path Widening in Seongpanak Hiking Trail of Mount Halla, Jeju Island (한라산 성판악 등산로 노폭의 확대 속도와 요인)

  • In order to examine the rates and factors of path widening in Mount Halla, the retreat of path sidewalls was monitored at 32 sites of Seongpanak Hiking Trail located between 875 m and 1,400 m in elevation. The mean rate of sidewall retreat for the period 2002-2008 is 50.6 mm, equivalent to 10.0 mm/yr. The retreat rate of frozen period is 19.3 mm/yr, while the rate of unfrozen period is 4.3 mm/yr. The latter is divided into the rainy and dry periods that exhibit the retreat rates of 5.9 mm/yr and 2.9 mm/yr, respectively. The retreat rate of sidewalls is also varied with seasons; winter shows the maximum rate of 42.2 mm/yr, while summer exhibits the minimum rate of 1.3 mm/yr. Spring and fall show the intermediate rates of 13.9 mm/yr and 6.4 mm/yr, respectively. Soil hardness and elevation are not closely related to the retreat rate of sidewalls, even though the retreat rate is larger at the north-faced sidewalls than the south-faced sidewalls during the frozen period. Pipkrake is likely to be the most important factor contributing to the path widening in that the retreat of winter months accounts for 76.7% of the total retreat. The hiking trail is placed under the climatic conditions which develop pipkrake in 85 days annually. In addition, it is usual to observe the path sidewall covered with pipkrake in the freezing month of December and the thawing months of March and April. On the other hand, deflation and rainsplash erosion are not important due to the weak wind speed and the forested trail. Rainwash is also insignificant in that the path has been almost paved to mitigate trampling effects. Although biological activity is not dominant, hikers cause a large retreat of sidewalls in the thawing months since they would walk on the sidewalls to avoid snow-melting pools on the path.

Relationship Between Flat End-mill Shape and Geometrical Characteristics in Side Walls Generated by End-milling Process (엔드밀링 공정에 의하여 생성된 측벽의 기하학적 특성과 평엔드밀 형상 사이의 관계)

  • This paper presents the effects of the tool shape on the geometrical characteristics of flat end-milled side walls. A tool shape is characterized by such parameters as helix angle, number of cutting edges, and diameter. The geometrical characteristics of the side walls are represented by the surface profiles in the feed and axial directions, which are orthogonal to each other. The geometrical defects in each direction are estimated based on the instantaneous apparent cutting areas, which are represented by the interference area between the tool and workpiece and that between the cutting edge and workpiece. It is confirmed that a geometrical defect in the feed direction is formed when the tool leaves the workpiece and the curvature of the tool path changes. Defects in the axial direction are also found in the side walls, except for the defect zone in the feed direction. An up-cut using an end-mill with a steeper helix angle, a greater number of cutting edges, and a smaller diameter are thus found to improve the geometrical accuracy of end-milled side walls.

  • When a ship operates in a shallow water and channel, the hull sinkage and asymmetrical force generated around the ship by the influence of sea bottom and bank walls are caused collision with sea bottom, other ships or the bank itself. Especially, the shipping company and pilots navigating the area of Europe and North America with many channels are deal with it as a important matter to prevent collision. In this paper, hydrodynamic force generated between the ship and bank using the numerical analysis for the safe navigation of ship, that is, sway force and yaw moment should be presumed qualitatively. It makes a program for fluid analysis of the shallow water and bank effect. Analyses are carried out for three kind of parameter, that is, ship's speed, water depth and ship-bank distance for crude oil carriers. The numerical analysis results are compared with results of the experiments and the previous published papers.

  • 본 연구는 과학적이고 실험적인 접근을 통하여 공간의 비례와 실내음향과의 상관관계를 규명하기 위하여 체적과 마감재료가 같고 비슷한 기본축척의 모델을 중심으로 가로, 세로, 높이의 비율이 다른 4개의 모델에서 각각 SPL, EDT, C, RT, LEF, IACC 등을 측정하여 각 형태의 모델의 값을 비교 분석하였다. 실험결과 잔향은 동일한 체적인 경우 음원으로부터 평균거리가 멀리 위치한 장방형의 형태가 양쪽 측벽 사이의 거리가 넓은 장방형보다 잔향시간이 긴 것으로 나타났다. 음압은 실의 체적이 작고 음원으로부터의 평균거리가 짧은 순서로 큰 반면, 명료도는 잔향의 크기순서에 반대로 분석되었으며 특히 음원으로부터의 직선거리가 짧은 순서로 명료도가 좋게 나타났다. IACC는 양쪽 측벽의 거리가 가장 긴 모델에서 가장 작게 나타났다 그러나, 초기 음장에서는 그 변화가 작게 나타났는데 이것은 IACC가 실의 형태에 장시간 관여하는 지수라는 것을 의미한다.

A Consideration of Void Formation Mechanism at Gate Edge Induced by Cobalt Silicidation (코발트 실리사이드에 의한 게이트 측벽 기공 형성에 대한 고찰)

  • Dopants implanted in silicon substrate affect the reaction between cobalt and silicon substrate. Phosphorous, unlike boron and arsenic, suppressing the reaction between cobalt and silicon induces CoSi formation during a low temperature thermal treatment instead of CoSi₂formation. The CoSi layer should move to the silicon substrate to fill the vacant volume that is generated in the silicon substrate due to the silicon out-diffusion into the cobalt/CoSi interface. The movement of CoSi at gate sidewall spacer region is suppressed by a cohesion between gate oxide and CoSi layers, resulting in a void formation at the gate sidewall spacer edge.

  • It is well known that the hydrodynamic interaction forces between ship and bank wall affect ship manoeuvring motions. In this paper, the calculation method based on the slender body theory for estimation of the hydrodynamic interaction forces between ship and bank wall is investigated. The numerical simulations on hydrodynamic interaction force acting on a ship in the proximity of bank wall are carried out by using this theoretical method. The theoretical method used in this paper will be useful for practical prediction of ship manoeuvrability at the initial stage of design, for discussion of marine traffic control system and for automatic control system of ship in confined waterways.

  • 산지유역은 하천을 따라서 도로가 발달되어 있어서 대부분의 도로가 홍수시 하천의 영향을 많이 받는다. 산지하천은 경사가 급하고 만곡수충부가 많이 발달되어 있기 때문에 홍수시 유속이 빠르고 만곡수충부의 편수위가 매우 크다. 이는 만곡부 호안 파괴와 도로 유실의 피해를 일으키는 경우가 많다. 따라서 대부분의 산지하천 만곡수충부에는 홍수피해 방지를 위해 콘크리트 옹벽호안으로 되어 있다. 그러나 콘크리트 옹벽은 조도가 작기 때문에 유속이 더 빠르게 되고 편수위를 한층 증대시킬 수 있다. 산지하천 만곡수충부의 편수위를 줄이기 위해서는 접근유속을 줄여야 하나 산지하천 특성으로 볼 때 접근유속 저감을 위한 공학적 방법은 제한적이다. 따라서 만곡수충부의 유속을 줄이는 방법으로 콘크리트 옹벽호안의 조도계수를 증대시키는 것이 효과적일 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 개수로 측벽에 수직돌출줄눈이 설치되었을 때 흐름에 미치는 수리효과를 개수로 수리실험으로 파악하고자 한 것이다. 실험결과 돌출줄눈의 간격이 수직돌출줄눈의 무차원 폭이 9일 때 평균유속이 가장 작게 나타났다. 이는 돌출줄눈의 간격이 개수로 내부흐름의 유속분포, 최대유속발생 위치, 유수단 면적의 크기에 영향이 미치기 때문이다. 따라서 개수로 측벽 수직돌출줄눈의 간격을 조절함으로써 개수로 유수저항의 크기를 조절할 수 있다.
