In this research, The new CEO is expected to increase a reporting income through earning management for individual benefit such as a good reputation, high compensation and CEO' s contract extension in the early years of service, of which may influence value relevance of the accounting numbers. We investigate the change of value relevance from 2004 to 2014, compare firms with a change of CEO and firms with non-change of CEO and analysis the value relevance in the early years and in the late years of the new CEO. The results of research are as follows. First, value relevance of EPS of firms with change of CEO are decreased, whereas value relevance of BPS are increased in the regression of all sample. Second, value relevance of EPS are decreased, whereas value relevance of BPS are increased in the early years of the new CEO. This research makes a contribution to provide the first proof about influence of value relevance by the earning management in the early years of the new CEO in Korea.

To explore the social construction of the concept of leadership, image of media mogul depicted in the popular business newspaper, the Wall Street Journal, was analyzed. Then, the reconstructed image of the CEO was compared with the firm's stock price change to see their relationship, if any. This paper focused on the case of Steve Case (previous chairman of AOL Time Warner), who was the leader of the world largest media company. The period for the analysis was three years and five months from his inauguration(January 2000) to the resignation(May 2003). In general, CEO of a firm represents the firm itself. Thus, the image of the CEO is highly transcends to the image of the firm as well. Consequently, the image of CEO might have an impact on the firm's performance. Since business newspaper works as one of the most important information intermediaries in the stock market, the image of CEO constructed in the newspaper might be a critical indicator for the investors. The results revealed that media coverage of Steve Case was commensurate with the financial performance, particularly stock price change of the AOL Time Warner.

The late Professor Lee CB (1915~1967) was one of the pioneers in the early stages of thoracic surgery in Korea while he was in charge of the Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery at Seoul National University hospital as the first director from 1957 until he died of liver cancer in 1967. He was a graduate from the old Seoul National University, and he dedicated himself to the field of lung surgery after he joined the army during the Korean War, which broke out in 1950. Among his many contributions to pulmonary surgery, he performed the first partial lung resection in Korea in 1953. His lecture notes were recently found. These lecture notes for medical students were written by hand in late 1950s, Considering the content and form of the lecture notes, they are thought to have very significant historical value. The lecture notes were a total of 277 pages on general thoracic surgery and cardiovascular surgery with 75 self-drawn figures. This study was intended to facilitate a better understanding of the history of thoracic surgery in Korea, and especially for young thoracic surgeons. These notes may well contribute to the field of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery in Korea.
