Objectives : Many studies have shown an association between serum lipid concentrations and psychologic characteristics. However, conflicting results have also been reported. This study was designed to find the relationship between serum lipid levels(cholesterol and triglycerides) and psychologic characteristics(impulsiveness, aggressiveness, depressiveness) in adolescents. Methods : Serum cholesterol concentration, serum triglycerides concentration, complete blood count, electrolytes, liver function test, and blood sugar level were measured by overnight fasting blood sampling and urinalysis was also conducted in 407 high school students. Impulsiveness level was measured by Barratt Impulsiveness Scale(BIS). Aggressiveness level was measured by Buss-Durkee Hostility Inventory(BDHI). Depressiveness level was measured by Beck Depression Inventory(BDI). Serum cholesterol was measured by standard enzymatic assay and serum triglycerides was measured by Boehringer Mannheim method. Results : 1) Low cholesterol group(<15 percentile) were found to have significantly higher BIS score than high cholesterol group(>85 percentile) in female. Female low cholesterol group were also found to have significantly higher motor impulsivity score, a subscale of BIS, than high cholesterol group. 2) High triglycerides group(>85 percentile) were found to have significantly higher BDI score than low triglycerides group(<15 percentile) in male and female separately. Especially, male high triglycerides group were also found to have significantly higher BIS and motor impulsivity score than low triglycerides group. Conclusion : These results support the previous hypothesis that serum lipid levels(cholesterol and triglycerides) affect human psychologic characteristics.

Objectives : Significant progress has been made in understanding psychosocial, psychological, and environmental factors associated with suicide. However it is only recently that attention has been paid to the understanding of the neurobiology of suicide. The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between platelet serotonin level and suicidal behavior and psychological features of the suicidal attempters. Methods : After a suicidal attempt platelet serotonin level was measured from 21 patients and compared it with those from depression patients and normal controls. Also MMPI, HAM-D, Barratt impulsiveness scale(BIS) were done to evaluate their psychological features. Results : 1) There was no significant difference in sex ratio of the suicidal attempters. 2) There was no significant difference in platelet serotonin levels among three groups. 3) The analysis of MMPI revealed that the scores of D, Hs, Pt in clinical scales were significantly higher in suicide patients and scores of D, Pa, Si were in depression patients. 4) The HAM-D score was significantly higher in depression and suicide patients, especially in depression patients. 5) The analysis of Barratt impulsiveness scale revealed that the scores of nonplanning, motor and cognitive impulsiveness scale were significantly higher in suicide patients. Conclusions : There was no significant difference in platelet serotonin levels among three groups. However the analysis of psychological features revealed significant differences. Therefore we concluded that psychological examinations are benefit to evaluate the suicidal tendency.
The purpose of this study was to make a case study of a fourth- grade child diagnosed as ADHD. The subject in this study, who was the supplier of information, was especially inattentive and. impulsive. The focus of this study was placed on improving his attention, and it's also meant to lighten his impulsiveness. An attention improvement training program was devised by applying play and games that would spark the interest of the ADHD child who was inattentive and felt easily boring. The program was conducted in 15 sessions, and his self-report of attention and impulsiveness and task performance were checked to find out the effect of the program before, after and six weeks after it was implemented. Besides, additional data were gathered by keeping observational and counseling journals and interviewing people around them, and the collected data were analyzed to get a profound understanding of the child. The finding of the study were as follows: First, according to the pretest, posttest and retention test scores on attention and additional data, the attention improvement training that utilized play and game served to boost the attention of the information provider, and that had a lasting effect on that as well. Second, as a result of analyzing the pretest, posttest and retention test scores on impulsiveness and additional data, the attention improvement training that utilized play and games contributed to easing the impulsiveness of the information provider, and that had a continuing effect on that as well. Third, in addition to attention and impulsiveness, there were favorable changes in his peer relationship and confidence when all the collected data were analyzed.
The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of violin learning as to enhance the attention span and impulsiveness of children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder(ADHD). Three children with ADHD, grade 2, 3, 4 were selected to participate in the research. A total of 15 session were given during 8 week time span, including a final performance session. For measurement, Korean-Child Behavior Checklist(K-CBCL), Home Situation Questionnaire-Revised (HSQ-R), Conners Teacher Rating Scale-Revised (CTRS-R) were administered before and after the implementation. Other behavioral checklist were used to record inappropriate or interruptive behaviors. The results showed that violin learning has increased attention span and reduced impulsive behaviors of all three children with ADHD. Along with these changes, the identified inappropriate behaviors reduced as sessions progressed. Also the changes observed within the music environment were generalized to non-music environment, such as family and school. These results also indicate that violin can be a therapeutic medium used in music therapy setting to bring positive changes for children with ADHD problems.
The purpose of this study was to examine the reliability and validity of attention deficit disorder evaluation scale-school version(ADDES-SV). Between October 1996 and November 1996, ADDES-SV was administered to 263 elementary school students in the second grade and between Jun 1996 and October 1996, 28 attention deficit hyperactivity disorder patients. In the reliability test, the test-retest reliability coefficient was significantly high and that of inattention was 0.88, that of impulsivity was 0.80, that of hyperactivity was 0.83 and total score was 0.83. In the reliability test by internal consistancy, the Cronbach $\alpha$ coefficient was significantly high and that of inattention was 0.98, that of impulsivity was 0.87, that of hyperactivity was 0.87(p<0.05). The half-sprit reliability coefficient by first-second half method showed high correlation and that of inattention was part 1: 0.96, part 2: 0.96 impulsivity was part 1: 0.95, part 2: 0.93, hyperactivity was part 1: 0.92, part 2: 0.94(p<0.05). Inter-rater reliability by pearson correlation coefficient was significantly high and that of inattention was 0.92, that of impulsivity was 0.87, that of hyperactivity was 0.89 and total score was 0.89. The concurrent validity between ADDES-SV and CAP scale was 0.85 in attention deficit hyperactivity disorder patient group and 0.79 in normal control group(p<0.05). In discriminant validity test between attention deficit hyperactivity disorder patient group and normal control group, the patient group showed higher score(p<0.05). The total discriminant capacity of the patient group in ADDES-SV was 94.6%. In this point of view, ADDES-SV scale showed high reliability and validity in applying to Korean subjects and was proved to be the useful screening test tool for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder research.

The purpose of this research is to analysis the effectiveness of education in which sexual violence offenders participated in correctional program. The subjects of this study were men living in D city had completed 40 hours of correctional program implemented by the Ministry of Justice. For data collection, a pre-test before training and a post-test completion of training were conducted for those who participated in the program. Those who had aggression, impulsivity, rape myth and anger had a positive effect after the correctional program, but that program didn't help those with feelings of loneliness. This study analyzed the effectiveness of the education through pre and post tests of the Ministry of Justice's sexual violence program targeting sexual violence offenders, and it is significant in seeking ways to change their behavior accordingly. Therefore, this study will be effective in preventing the recurrence of sexual violence, and it will contribute as a data that can be used for the development of the correctional program for sexual violence offenders.
The purpose of this study is to measure the effect of musical activities on children's aggressiveness using percussion playing through case studies and to present the therapeutic programs. Musical activities using percussion playing were organized for three aggressive children. Twenty-one small group sessions were conducted over seven weeks with 30 minutes given each session. Fourth-grade children involved in using Aggressiveness Measuring Tool for Teachers-revised by Gwak Geum-Joo(1992) was selected for case studies. Children's impulsiveness was also tested through self-test measuring tool for impulsiveness-revision of 16 questions used by Cho Hae Yeon (2001) and Lee Joo Shik (2003). As quantitative method, comparative analysis was made between the pre and post test results using measuring tools for aggressiveness and impulsiveness of children as well as between aggressive behaviors occurring in the initial stage of the first three sessions and in the latter stage of the last three sessions. Qualitative method was used at the same time to examine the effect of percussion playing on children. After the musical activities, child A showed reduced Aggressive Measuring Tool scores from 19 to 18, with child B from 23 to 19 and child C from 21 to 18. The results show that occurrence of aggressive behaviors were lowered in the post test. Impulsiveness Measuring Tool scores in the post test were decreased as well in all three children. During the music therapy programs, it was also observed that the frequency of the target behaviors in all three children has reduced more in the latter stage than the initial stage of music therapy. The qualitative findings indicate that the children experienced releasing stress through self-expression after percussion playing. These findings indicate therapeutic effectiveness of music therapy using on percussion playing in reducing aggressiveness of children as well as the effectiveness of percussion as a therapeutic intervention for aggressive children. These results can be adapted and reapplied by teachers in primary schools to approach children with behavior problems, and can present a useful therapeutic approach to therapists practicing in clinical environments.
Objective : The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of an Interactive Metronome on increasing attention and impulsivity control for children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder(ADHD). Methods : This study was conducted through the ABA'design among single-case research methods with one child with ADHD. From May to July, 2014, 3 sessions of baseline phase(A), 15 sessions of intervention phase(B), and 3 sessions of post baseline(A') were conducted. The intervention was IM training, and each session carried out short form assessment(SFA) of IM and concentration tasks. In addition, long form assessment(LFA) of IM and Self-Control Rating Scale (SCRS) were conducted at baseline, intervention and post baseline. Results : After IM training as the intervention, the participation showed an increase in attention and controled in impulsivity. After the intervention, it was demonstrated that the effects were maintained or improved in the post baseline. Conclusions : IM training can be useful for increasing attention and impulsivity control of children with ADHD. The results demonstrated the efficacy of IM training as a new approach for children with ADHD.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate correlation of adolescent eating attitude and psychological factors which might influence the eating attitude such as depression, aggression and impulsiveness. The author also tried to identify relationship between adolescent eating attitude and biological factors such as serum cholesterol level and triglyceride level. Two hundred and forty one female high school students without physical disorder were selected as study subjects. For the study, Eating Attitude Test-26KA (EAT -26KA), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) -Korean version, Barrat Impulsiveness scale (BIS) -Korean version, and Buss-DurKee Hostility Inventory (BDHI) -Korean version were used. Serum cholesterol level and triglyceride level were also investigated. For the purpose of identifying factors which could influence eating attitude of adolescence, stepwise multiple linear regression analysis was done. Total score of BDHI could be most significant factor to explain eating attitude, and BDI, serum cholesterol/triglyceride level be second, third position respectively. But, BIS was not significant predicting parameter. The contributing portion of these factors to explain eating behavior was 25.9%.

The purpose of this study is developing of Korean scale for measuring elementary school pupil's online game addiction tendency by scientific development process. The pilot test was conducted in three times, and the items analysis, reliability analysis, and factor analysis was conducted at every test, so the inquiries for main survey composed of 30 inquiry items was decided. Some referential variables was included in the inquiries for main survey such as inquiry items for testing the actual using conditions and attitude of online game, the aggressive behavior scale, the impulsive behavior scale, the solitude scale, and the self-control scale. 2,584 fifth and sixth grade students in elementary school participated in main survey. For main survey results, items analysis and reliability analysis was conducted and validity was verified by exploratory factor analysis and correlation analysis. Finally, the final inquiry items composed of 7 factors, 30 items and the grouping criterion were developed through the standardization process.
