Wireless communication technology (WAVE) for vehicles, which is the core technology behind the next-generation intelligent transport system (C-ITS), is used to deliver information about vehicles to prevent traffic accidents and traffic situations that may arise between vehicles and infrastructure. Similar traffic issues often arise in marine scenarios. Currently, AIS is being used as a means of transmitting information such as the status of relative vessels, but research is being carried out to solve problems with AIS such as overloading by applying wireless communication technology for vehicles to the sea. In this study, a collision warning system suitable for small-sized vessels was developed based on the marine application of WAVE for vehicles verified through prior research, and the adequacy of this collision warning system was reviewed through a practical test. It is expected that this system will contribute greatly to future e-Navigation applications or self-driving ships as well as to preventing marine accidents.

The Forward Collision Warning, a representative technology of the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, was selected as the target technology. The cognitive response time, deceleration, and impact were selected as the measures of effectiveness. And the amount of change with and without the Forward Collision Warning was measured. The experimental scenarios included a sudden stop event (1) of the vehicle in front of the driver and an event (2) in which the vehicle intervened in the next lane. All experiments were divided into day and night. As a result of the analysis, response time and the deceleration rate decreased when the forward collision warning system was installed. It was analyzed that the driver's risk situation could be detected quickly and the number of front-end collisions could be reduced as a result. Reflecting the driver's operating habits and diversifying the experimental scenarios will increase the installation effectiveness of ADAS and be used to estimate the effectiveness of other technologies.

Maritime accidents, such as the collision of a fishing boat in Incheon's Yeongheung Island, result in several casualties and property damage, even if they occur just once. To prevent such accidents, the Incheon Metropolitan Government is implementing safety management policies; further, they will provide ship collision warning services to prevent collisions on WAVE (Wireless Access in Vehicular Environment) communication-based ship safety operation pilot projects. However, to realize these objectives, a service standardization method is required that defines specific service types, configurations, and systems, which should be prepared based on user requirement analyses. In this study, a standardization method of WAVE communication-based collision warning service was developed by analyzing the requirements of the vessel operators subject to the services and related authorities. This will help improve the quality of service, ensuring professionalism and reliability through continuous improvement and efforts for standardization, as well as data derived from demonstration projects. Therefore, it is expected to help prevent maritime accidents to a considerable extent.

The side and rear-side collision warning system using fuzzy control algorithms is discussed in this paper. Common rearside warning system has many problems. For example if target vehicle comes into the warning area, it must unconditionally warn. Drivers could be interrupted by it. To solve the problem, I divided measuring area into two sections. One section is blind area of vehicle and the other rear-side area. For blind area, obtained data was filtered inefficient warning signal by using relative velocity method. For rear-side area, a fuzzy logic algorithm is used to recognition of obstacles. According to our experiment relative velocity method and fuzzy logic algorithms were very efficient.

This paper describes modeling and simulation of automotive forward collision warning and avoidance system using CASE(Computer-Aided Systems Engineering) tool. The system is composed or many sensors, a controller, warning devices, brakes and etc. The system was modeled by one activity chart, fourteen state charts and one module chart. Rear-end collision scenarios was generated by Simulink and used to support Stalemate model. The resulting model was used to evaluate the correctness of function and behavior of the system. A simulator for the system has been designed and used to validate the model under realistic operating conditions in the laboratory. To model and simulate the system's functionality and behavior brings clarity to system design early in the system development.

Although vehicles become more intelligent for convenience and safety of drivers, traffic accidents are increased more and more. Especially, car-to-car single rear impacts in the urban area are increased rapidly because of driver inattention. To prevent rear impacts in the urban area, commercial automobile vendor applies the low-speed short-distance collision warning system. This paper presents low-speed short-distance collision warning algorithm for the city driving by using sensor fusion of laser sensor and ultrasonic sensor. An experiment using embedded microprocessor in the driving track was used to demonstrate the feasibility of the collision warning algorithm.

For the commercialization of unmanned aircraft, we must validate the safety of the air/ground collision alert systems (CAS). The validation procedure of CAS requires the flight test which is not only expensive but also dangerous. To alleviate this problem, we need the simulation based validation process for the CAS. We developed an integrated UAV simulation (IUS) environment which interconnect the flight simulator, the Matlab/Simulink, and a target avionics simulation model. We developed the collision warning module of the TCAS and tested using IUS and flight encounter models. Using IUS, we can evaluate the performance and reliability of a target avionic system at the preliminary design stage of a development life cycle.
