Development of Joint Controller and Collision Detection Methods for Series Elastic Manipulator of Relief Robot (구호로봇용 연성 매니퓰레이터를 위한 조인트 제어 및 충돌감지 알고리즘)

  • This paper deals with the development and application of control algorithms for series elastic relief robots for rescue operations in harsh environment like disasters or battlefield. The joint controller applied in this paper has a cascade structure combining inner loop for torque control and outer loop for position control. The torque loop contains feedforward and feedback controller and disturbance observer for independent, decentralized joint control. The effect of the elastic component and motor dynamics are treated as the nonlinear disturbance and compensated with the disturbance observer of torque controller. For the collision detection, Band Designed Disturbance Observer is configured to recognize/respond to external disturbance robustly in the continuously changing environment. The controller is applied to a 7-dof series elastic manipulator to evaluate the torque tracking and collision detection/response performance.

  • This paper studied the collision detection of robot manipulators for safe collaboration in human-robot interaction. Based on sensor-based collision detection, external torque is detached from subtracting robot dynamics. To detect collision using joint torque sensor data, a comparative study was conducted using data-based machine learning algorithm. Data was collected from the actual 3 degree-of-freedom (DOF) robot manipulator, and the data was labeled by threshold and handwork. Using support vector machine (SVM), decision tree and k-nearest neighbors KNN method, we derive the optimal parameters of each algorithm and compare the collision classification performance. The simulation results are analyzed for each method, and we confirmed that by an optimal collision status detection model with high prediction accuracy.

  • Collision is a brief dynamic event consisting of the close approach of two or more objects or particles resulting in an abrupt change of momentum or exchange of energy because of interaction. Collisions play very important role in computer graphics, computer games and animations fields. Collisions can supply active interaction between cyberspace and real world and give much interests for making nice games so reasonable collision detection algorithms are needed. Collision detection algorithms should satisfy being fast and accuracy. In this paper, we survey the 2D collision detection algorithms between geometric models. We present several methods and system available for collision detection.

A Location-based Highway Safety System using Smart Mobile Devices (스마트 모바일 장치를 이용한 위치기반 고속도로 안전시스템)

  • In this paper, we propose a highway safety system that comprises a small number of central servers and smart mobile devices. To implement this system, we constructed a central server that collects GPS location information on cars, whose update messages are decreased via the car location estimation algorithm. The in-car mobile devices use the accelerometer sensors to detect hazardous situations; this information is updated to the central server that relays the information to the corresponding endangered cars via location-based unicast using LTE communication. To evaluate the proposed algorithm, we equipped a mobile device app on a real car and conducted real experiments in various environments such as city streets, rural areas, and highway roads. Furthermore, we conducted simulations to evaluate the propagation of danger information. Finally, we conducted simulated experiments to detect car collisions as well as exceptions, such as falling of the mobile device from the cradle.

  • The work presented in this paper deals with a navigation problem for a multiple mobile robots in unknown dynamic environments. The environments are completely unknown to the robots; thus, proximity sensors installed on the robots' bodies must be used to detect information about the surroundings. In order to guide the robots along collision-free paths to reach their goal positions, a navigation method based on a combination of primary strategies has been developed. Most of these strategies are achieved by means of fuzzy logic controllers, and are uniformly applied in every robot. In order to improve the performance of the proposed fuzzy logic, the genetic algorithms were used to evolve the membership functions and rules set of the fuzzy controller. The simulation experiments verified that the proposed method effectively addresses the navigation problem.

  • In this paper, we proposed a visualization system with ANN algorithm that traits the motion of particles that move colliding in the water, where we got a great deal of variable information and predicts the distribution of particles according to the flowing of water and the pattern of their precipitation. We adopted ART2 to detect sensitively the collision between particles in this visualzation. Various particles and their mutual collision influencing the force such as buoyancy force, gravitational force, and the pattern of precipitation are considered in this system. Flowing particles whose motion is changed with the environment can be visualized in the system presented here as they are in real water.

Robust Obstacle Detection and Avoidance Algorithm for Infrastructure-Based Vehicle Communication Under Signal Interference (중계기를 통한 다중 차량 간 통신 상황에서 신호 간섭에 강한 장애물 감지 및 회피 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, we will introduce the system that can control multiple vehicles on the road through Single Board Computers and V2I (Vehicle-To-Infrastructure). Also, we will propose the group evasive maneuver decision algorithm, which plays a critical role in deciding whether the vehicles in the system have to conduct evasive maneuvers to avoid obstacles on the road. In order to test this system, we have utilized Wi-Fi and TCP/IP for establishing the communication between multiple vehicles and the relay server, and observed their driving states on the road with obstacles. During the experiments, we have discovered that our original decision algorithm possesses high failure rate when there is frequency interference in ISM (Industrial Scientific Medical) band. In order to reduce this failure rate, we have implemented the data transition detector. This paper will focus on how the use of data transition detector can affect the reliability of the system under the frequency interference of ISM band. If this technology is improved and applied in the field, we will effectively deal with such dangerous situations as multiple collision accidents through vehicle-to-vehicle communication or vehicle-to-infrastructure communication. Furthermore, this can be applied to the autonomous driving technologies. This can be used as the reference data for the development of the similar system.

  • 최근 하천의 유사 중 소류사량을 계측하기 위해 사용된 기존의 물리적 소류사 샘플러를 이용한 직접계측방법은 홍수 시에 깊은 수위와 빠른 유속, 계측 절차상의 위험성 때문에 현장관측이 매우 어려운 한계를 극복하기 위해 현업에서는 소류사량을 간접적으로 추정하는 이론식에 의한 방법이 광범위하게 활용되고 있으나 이 방법 또한 추정이론식의 적용지역, 적용방법에 따라 결과가 수십배 이상 큰 차이를 나타나 실제 활용성에 대한 문제점이 있다. 이러한 기존의 소류사량 측정 방법의 문제점을 보완하기 위해 소류사량을 간접계측하는 방법이 활발히 제안되고 있다. 대표적인 방법으로 하상 이동 시 소류사의 충돌음을 음향센서로 계측하여 신호처리를 통해 소류사량을 추정하는 계측기기인 하이드로폰이 있다. 그러나 국외의 소류사량 간접계측 장치는 소류사량의 운송량이 많을 경우 음향신호 중접으로 인해 펄스 수의 감소, 감지 가능한 입경크기의 제한 등의 문제가 있다. 또한 국내의 백무평(2018)이 제안한 소류사 분석 방법인 대역통과방법(B-P Method)는 소류사량 추정에 있어서 기존의 방법과는 달리 주파수 특성을 반영하여 이전 연구들에 비하여 펄스 검출률을 향상시겼지만 이 방법은 극히 낮은 저유속과 작은 입경이라는 실험조건에서 이루어졌다는 제한사항이 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 다양한 입경과 고유속에 대하여 소류사량을 정량화할 수 있는 방법을 제시하기 위해 소류사 입경이 하이드로폰에 충돌할 때 발생하는 단독입자의 충돌음을 계측하기 위한 실외 수로실험장치를 구축하여 계측을 수행하였다. 실험은 현장에서 대표 시료로 분류된 몇 가지 입경에 대해서 유량 변화에 따른 충돌음향과 소류사량 그리고 소류사 입경크기에 따른 하이드로폰에서 인지되는 음향 특성을 계측 및 분석하였다. 연구결과 입경 크기 및 수리조건 변화에 따른 하이드로폰의 충돌음향 특성을 파악하여 단일 입경별 소류사량 추정관계식을 산출하였다. 또한 산출된 추정 관계식의 특성치와 공급 소류사량 간의 관계를 유도해 보았다. 향후 혼합입경에 대한 실험과 추정 관계식 신뢰성 검토 후 추가적으로 다양한 실험조건을 고려하여 실제 하천에 운송되는 소류사량과의 교정관계 확립을 진행한다면 국내 소류사량 데이터 수집을 위한 현장 설치까지 가능할 것으로 사료된다.

  • The Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS) is being utilized in numerous applications. The research for autonomous guided vehicles(AGVs) using precise positioning of GNSS is in progress. GNSS based AGVs is useful for setting driving path. This AGV system is more efficient than the previous one. Escipecially, the obstacle is positioned the driving path. Previcious AGVs which follow marker or wires laid out on the road have to stop the front of obstacle. But GNSS based AGVS can continuously drive using obstacle avoidance. In this paper, we developed collision avoidance system for GNSS based AGV using laser scanner and collision avoidance path setting algorithm. And we analyzed the developed system.

The Development of Vehicle Counting System at Intersection Using Mean Shift (Mean Shift를 이용한 교차로 교통량 측정 시스템 개발)

  • A vehicle counting system at intersection is designed and implemented using analyzing a video stream from a camera. To separate foreground image from background, we compare three different methods, among which Li's method is chosen. Blobs are extracted from the foreground image using connected component analysis and the blobs are tracked by a blob tracker, frame by frame. The primary tracker use only the size and location of blob in foreground image. If there is a collision between blobs, the mean-shift tracking algorithm based on color distribution of blob is used. The proposed system is tested using real video data at intersection. If some huristics is applied, the system shows a good detection rate and a low error rate.
