Development of ICT based Automated Detection & Propagation System for Accidents in Agricultural Machinery (농기계 안전사고 시 자동상황전파를 위한 ICT기반 시스템 개발)

  • Recently, the aging of agricultural society has caused a rapid increase in safety accidents in -agricultural machinery. Sometimes, the wounded may be left unattended resulting serious situation. In order to solve these problems, ICT technology is used to detect and inform the accident quickly when a safety accident such as overturning, collision or other accidents occurs during the operation or moving the agricultural machinery, such as cultivator, rearing machine, and tractor. A system capable of minimizing the amount of data is required. In this paper, an ICT - based automatic accident detection & propagation system is proposed for the agricultural machinery accident such as colliding crashes or overturning of agricultural machinery. The proposed system enables quick rescue by sending a text message automatically to family, acquaintances, hospitals and 119 in the event of an agricultural accident.

Design of Action Game Using Three-Dimensional Map and Interactions between In-Game Objects

  • In this study, we aim to design an action game that increases the user experience. In order to increase the immersion of the game, the characteristics of the game used by the user were analyzed, and the systemic and visual characteristics of the game were designed with reference to each characteristic. The proposed method uses Unity 3D to implement an interaction system between objects in the game and is designed in a way that allows users to immerse themselves in the game. To induce immersion through the visual elements of the game, 2D objects and players are placed in a 3D space, and a 2D dynamic light shader is added. It is composed of inter-combat rules and monster behavior pattern collision detection and event detection. The proposed method contained the user experience with the implementation thesis, and showed the game's possibility of leading the user's affordance.

  • This paper proposed a new transponder detection method to reduce tag recognition time and simplify anti-collision process in RFID systems. In conventional systems, a transponder in detectable area is passively recognized by responding to a reader command. In addition, if there are multiple tags in the area, a collision between tags occurs by responding at the same time to a command and anti-collision process begins. In the proposed method, tags are actively recognized without any command from a reader which results to reducing a tag recognition time and simplifying anti-collision process. To compare transponder recognition time, the process of transponder recognition in conventional systems is analysed. A circuit to detect transponder directly is developed and antenna voltage variation of a reader in the appearance of multiple transponders is analysed for the implementation of the proposed method.

  • IEEE 802.11 WLAN uses CSMA/CA(Carrier Sense Multiple Access/Collision Avoidance) method in MAC(Media Access Control) protocol, and through the carrier sense checks whether other users use the channel during the data transmission to avoid the data collision. Currently, IEEE 802.11 standard recommends the use of a fixed threshold which gives an impact on carrier sensing range. However, the existing scheme using the fixed threshold causes the operation of network to be inefficiency owing to the mobility in MANET(Mobile Ad hoc NETwork). In this paper, we found the better network throughput to be obtained by applying the proposed scheme, which chooses properly the carrier sensing threshold and transmission rate considering SINR(Signal to Interference-plus-Noise Ratio), to the MANET.

Development of an UHF CW/FM Proximity Sensor System (UHF CW/FM 전파 근접 감지 시스템의 개발)

  • We have developed the UHF CW/FM proximity sensor system. The UHF CW/FM Proximity Sensor is the system which recognizes the distance from the antenna to the target using the UHF band signal. To adjust sensing distance, we must change modulation frequency parameter or modulation index parameter. When we select the modulation frequency paramter for adjusting sensing distance, new modulation frequency generator and new band pass filter will be required. It is so inefficient that we choose modulation index parameters for adjusting sensing distance. In this paper, theoretical principles of the UHF CW/FM Proximity Sensor are analyzed and doppler signals for the distance from the antenna to the target are measured as the modulation index($\beta$) being changed. Three systems of which moduation indices are 38, 50, and 61 are made. We concluded that the sensing distance will decrease as the modulation index($\beta$) increases. It is in accord with the theory of this UHF CW/FM Proximity Sensor System.

Driving Vehicle Detection and Distance Estimation using Vehicle Shadow (차량 그림자를 이용한 주행 차량 검출 및 차간 거리 측정)

  • Recently, the warning system to aid drivers for safe driving is being developed. The system estimates the distance between the driver's car and the car before it and informs him of safety distance. In this paper, we designed and implemented the collision warning system which detects the car in front on the actual road situation and measures the distance between the cars in order to detect the risk situation for collision and inform the driver of the risk of collision. First of all, using the forward-looking camera, it extracts the interest area corresponding to the road and the cars from the image photographed from the road. From the interest area, it extracts the object of the car in front through the analysis on the critical value of the shadow of the car in front and then alerts the driver about the risk of collision by calculating the distance from the car in front. Based on the results of detecting driving cars and measuring the distance between cars, the collision warning system was designed and realized. According to the result of applying it in the actual road situation and testing it, it showed very high accuracy; thus, it has been verified that it can cope with safe driving.

Distributed Time Division Piconet Coexistence Using Local Time Offset Exchange (로컬 오프셋을 이용한 분산 시간 분리 피코넷 충돌회피 방법론)

  • Wireless Body Area Networks (WBAN), standardized as IEEE 802.15.6, enable digital devices on/around the human body to communicate with one another. WBAN is essentially a person's piconet consisting of a master (mobile) device and several slave devices, which follows his/her mobility pattern, and hence, occasionally collides with another piconet as people meet or pass by. As such, a mechanism to detect collision and avoid interference is needed for intra-piconet communications. In this paper, we focus on this notorious problem of piconet collision and propose Distributed Time Division Piconet Coexistence (DTDPC) using local time offset exchange as a simple, attractive solution. The proposed DTDPC provides different level of services for various applications. Besides our simulation results have shown that the proposed solution outperforms the conventional CSMA protocols.

  • Self-driving vehicles are a type of smart vehicle with the help of ICT technology, which means a vehicle that operates without the intervention of a driver.Vehicles with vehicle safety communication technology (V2X) applied use information detected from various sensors or other vehicles/infrastructures to enable the smart vehicle to accurately and quickly predict the driver's potential danger situation, contributing to more stable autonomous driving. In this paper, among V2X communication technologies, a vehicle-to-vehicle communication (V2V) simulation communication technology is used to present a scenario for preventing collisions in autonomous vehicles. A vehicle collision prevention system based on V2V simulated communication was implemented and the suggested collision prevention application scenario was demonstrated. The suggested collision prevention utilization scenario can be considered as one application case of V2V communication technologies that are currently being developed/applied.

Reminder module design to prevent collision accidents while wearing HMD (HMD 착용 중의 충돌 사고 방지를 위한 알리미 모듈 설계)

  • Virtual reality content provides users with a high sense of immersion by using HMD devices. However, while wearing the HMD device, it is difficult to determine the user's location or distance from obstacles, resulting in injuries due to physical collisions. In this paper, we propose a reminder module to prevent accidents by notifying the risk of collision with obstacles while wearing the HMD device. The proposed module receives the user's state from the acceleration and gyro sensor and determines the motion that is likely to cause a collision. If there is an obstacle in the expected collision range, a buzzer sounds to the wearer. As a result of the experiment, the accuracy of obstacle detection in the state of wearing the HMD was 86.6% in the 1st stage and 83.3% in the 2nd stage, confirming the performance of the accident prevention reminder.

An Approach to Improve the End-to-end Performance for Mobile Ad hoc Networks (이동 애드 혹 망을 위한 종단간의 성능 개선 방안)

  • In this paper, we make MAC protocol improvements for performance enhancement of multi-hop ad-hoc wireless networks. A node in ad-hoc wireless networks can transmit a packet only when the medium is available, and while a packet is being transmitted, no other nodes are allowed to transmit a packet if they are in carrier sensing range. Carrier sensing range can be divided into two disjoint areas of transmission range and carrier sensing zone(9), and we address the importance of the protocol behavior when a node is in carrier sensing zone. The characteristic of the carrier sensing zone is that a node can not know when the remaining time of the on-going transmission session expires or exactly when the media becomes available. Current MAC protocol does not behave in much different way between when a node is in transmission range and in carrier sensing zone. We have conducted a comprehensive simulation to study the performance improvements. The simulation results indicate that the performance is increased and the number of dropped packets due to collision is significantly reduced as much as a half.
