As the energy generated by earthquake, tsunami, etc. propagates through the air and disturbs the electron density in the ionosphere, the perturbation can be detected by analyzing the ionospheric delay in satellite signal. The electron density in the ionosphere is affected by various factors such as solar activity, latitude, season, and local time. To distinguish from the anomaly, therefore, it is required to inspect the normal trend of the ionosphere. Also, as the perturbation magnitude diminishes by distance it is necessary to develop an appropriate algorithm to detect long-distance disturbances. In this paper, normal condition ionosphere trend is analyzed via IONEX data. We selected monitoring value that has no tendency and developed an algorithm to effectively detect the long-distance ionospheric disturbances by using the lasting characteristics of the disturbances. In the end, we concluded the $2^{nd}$ derivative of ionospheric delay would be proper monitoring value, and the false alarm with the developed algorithm turned out to be 1.4e-6 level. It was applied to 2011 Tohoku earthquake case and the ionospheric disturbance was successfully detected.
This study is examined interaction between carbon market with stock market using a multivariate GARCH(DCC) model. Carbon market is EU ETS EUA price, stock market is the iron and cement stock price which has relatively energy intensive and massive carbon emissions sector in the industrial sector. It also analyzed changes in the correlation between the markets through an analysis of correlation coefficients. Moreover, it checked whether there was marketability expansion(or expansion of carbon emissions reduction) through the analysis above. As a result of empirical tests, it showed that the price spillover effect was insignificant. In addition, it represented that there was a weak correlation between the two markets since the volatility spillover effect disappeared in the second phase by an external shock(a financial crisis). Moreover, it was revealed that there were no significant changes although there was a weak upward trend in terms of the correlation between the carbon market and the stock market. This implies that emission rights could not expand marketability to financial market as a commodity(or did not play its natural role of the reduction of carbon emission).
For Singapore, 2017 was an uneasy year. The presidential election was fraught with controversy since the revised Presidential Election Act allowed only one candidate to be eligible for the election. The bitter feud between Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and his siblings shocked many Singaporeans. Succession planning for the next top leadership is still veiled in obscurity. The anti-globalization trend and the increasing pressure to raise the tax have become major challenges for Singapore's economy to overcome. China's continuous diplomatic pressure has called into the question Singapore's pragmatic foreign policy. Although its relations with China were back to normal, Singapore, the ASEAN chair in 2018, is still facing intractable problems in safeguarding ASEAN centrality in the growing US-China rivalry. In the meantime, Singapore has pursued its diversity and equality, heading toward a more matured multi-racial and multi-cultural society in 2017. The first female president, Halimah Yacob, served as a symbolic epitome of Singapore's emphasis on diversity and harmony among different ethnic groups and minorities. This great milestone, however, has largely been questioned by Singaporeans, as it seemed to be a political gesture that only utilized Halimah's double minority in the level of ideologies. The election of the Malay president has led Singaporeans to think about the real equity and equality among minorities, while strongly motivated to move toward a more inclusive society. In 2018, Singaporean leaders will try to resolve many challenging problems by reaffirming leadership succession planning, which is expected to lead Singapore to pursue a more integrated society.
Due to their geographic proximity to Beijing, the Southeast Asian states under the fallout of the China's growing power are struggling to seek the art of diplomacy to promote their national interests. This study explores why Cambodia previously taking a pro-US strategy after the end of the Cold War has switched to a pro-China one in the context of the rise of G-2 system, the ASEAN regionalism, the country's national interest and Hun Sen's regime legitimation. Theoretically, this study takes a realist constructivist approach and tries to find how realist interests and norms have affected the Hun Sen's regime legitimation. The relationship between China and Cambodia has been deepened by mutual economic interdependence and increasingly stronger Chinese power. Especially, the Chinese massive economic aids and investment have enormously supported the regime legitimation of Hun Sen. On the other hand, The US value diplomacy promoting democracy and human rights has undermined the Hun Sen's legitimacy and strained the two nations' relationship. However, the Hun Sen's pro-China strategy is not to check and balance against US strategic interests and not to recognize the Chinese hegemonic position in Southeast Asia. It is a hedging against the US value diplomacy while maximizing economic and other gains from China. ASEAN has been playing a coordinating role to limit the scope of power politics among big powers and to mitigate its ramifications. Yet, since the US and Chinese interests are so keenly criss-crossing, Cambodia may continue to react to the G-2 system through bilateral relations with them.

The government is trying to create jobs by providing 160 billion won in 2021 to revitalize youth start-ups, but the number of youth unemployment and potential unemployment is hitting a record high of 1.2 million due to the shock of employment due to COVID-19. Although start-ups are encouraged as an alternative to revitalizing jobs, the success rate of young start-ups is low due to lack of start-up funds and experience. The purpose of this study is to understand the need to diversify start-up education and career education by understanding start-up policies through one-time funding and short-term education. The results of the study on the factors affecting the willingness to start a business were as follows, by sampling 344 students from specialized high schools preparing for employment and 344 young people in their 20s who are seeking jobs. First, among the entrepreneurship subvariables, innovation, autonomy of job value, and desire for economic achievement are significant, and the older the person surveyed, the more positive the perception of the entrepreneur was. Second, as you get older, your will to start a business decreases, and your experience in successful start-up models and start-up education has an impact on your will to start a business. Third, perception of entrepreneurs is a partial medium effect, which indirectly influences the willingness to start a business and directly or indirectly influences the willingness to start a business through the autonomy of job values, the desire to achieve economic and entrepreneurship.

The quality assurance activities can detect the factors that affect the quality based on risk identification in the course of mass production. Risk identification is conducted with risk analysis, and the risk analysis method for the rotorcraft landing system is selected by failure mode effects analysis (FMEA). FMEA is a method that detects the factors that can affect the product quality by combining severity, occurrence, and detectability. The results of FMEA were prioritized using the risk priority number. On the other hand, these methods have certain shortcomings because the severity, occurrence, detectability are weighted equally. Dempster-Shafer evidence theory can conduct uncertainty analysis for the opinions with personal reflections and subjectivity. Based on the theory, the belief function and the plausibility function can be formed. Moreover, the functions can be utilized to evaluate the belief rate and credibility. The system is exposed to impact during take-off and landing. Therefore, experts should manage failure modes in the course of mass production. In this paper, FMEA based on the Dempster-Shafer evidence theory is discussed to perform risk analysis regarding the failure mode of the rotorcraft landing system. The failure priority was evaluated depending on the factor values. The results were derived using belief and plausibility function graphs.

The voltages mainly used in ships are 450 [V], 6.6 [kV], and 11 [kV], and an earthed system is applied to ensure the stability of the power distribution system. In general, low-voltage ships using 450 [V] apply an unearthed system, while high-voltage ships using 6.6 [kV] or 11 [kV] use a high-resistance earthed system. When an earth fault occurs in a ship's power distribution system, the voltage of the healthy phase increases to the line-to-line voltage or higher, which causes an excessive impact on the insulation of the cable. Thus, analyzing this behavior is very important. In this paper, we investigate the characteristics of the line-to-earth voltage variation according to earth faults and a recognition procedure of a faulty phase using the symmetrical coordinate method for a high-resistance earthed system and unearthed system. A mathematical model of the line-to-earth voltage was derived through the symmetric coordinate method, and the ship voltage for simulations was selected as 6.6 [kV] and 450 [V]. A MATLAB simulation proved that this method can determine the highest increase of the line-to-earth voltage, which leads by 120° on the faulty phase, and it accurately judges the faulty phase in both earthed systems.

In this study, hydrophones using acoustic sensors were used to estimate the amount of bedload discharge in a forested watershed. The reaction characteristics were analyzed through hydrophone flume tests and field tests, and the quantitative bedload discharge was calculated and compared with that measured by a pit sampler. The hydrophone reaction changed the pulse according to the flow rate change, but did not react to standard sand. The pulse was different depending on the particle size and weight, and accordingly, there was a specific channel showing a suitable response. For a hydrophone installed in the field, by using an automatic impact device, the reaction characteristics of each channel were analyzed to confirm normal operation of the sensor and the suitability of the output value of each channel. In addition, a suitable channel was selected for the estimation of bedload discharge. The bedload discharge formula was developed using a hydrophone pulse and the average flow rate, and was compared with the measured data in the pit sampler in the study site. As a result of the study, if a hydrophone is used for monitoring the bedload in forested watersheds, it is considered effective in quantitatively estimating the weight of bedload discharge.

A Leg Mating Unit (LMU) is a device utilized during the float-over installation of offshore structures that include hyperelastic pads and mating part. The hyperelastic pads absorb the loads, whereas the mating part works as guidance between topside and supporting structures during the mating sequence of float-over installation. In this study, the design optimization of an LMU for the float-over installation of floating-type offshore structures is conducted to enhance the performance and to satisfy the requirements defined by classification society regulations. The initial dimensions of the LMU are referred to the dimensions of those used in fixed-type float-over installation because only the location and the number of LMUs are known. The two-parameter Mooney-Rivlin model is adopted to describe the hyperelastic pads under given material parameters. Geometric variables, such as the thickness, height, and width of members, as well as configuration variables, such as the angle and number of members, are defined as design variables and are parameterized. A sampling-based design sensitivity analysis based on latin hypercube sampling method is performed to filter the important design variables. The design optimization problem is formulated to minimize the total mass of the LMU under maximum von Mises stress and reaction force constraints.
River scour erodes the soil around the pier, reducing the lateral bearing capacity of the pier and lowering the stability of the structure. In this study, in order to examine the effect of scouring on the stability of the structure, an experiment was performed to measure the natural frequency of the pier according to the excavation of the surrounding ground. Impact vibration test was conducted on the pier with the caisson foundation of the Mangyeonggang Bridge, which is scheduled to be demolished. Accelerometers were attached to the top, center, and bottom of the pier and the acceleration responses were measured by hitting those three points. The experimental results showed that the top hit showed consistent and reasonable results of the acceleration responses according to the hitting position. The measured accelerations were converted to the frequency domain through Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), and then the natural frequency was determined. In addition, to analyze the scour effect on the natural frequency of the pier, the ground around the pier was excavated and the natural frequency change was analyzed. As a result, the natural frequency showed the decreasing tendency according to the excavation depth, but the decrease was small due to the large stiffness of the caisson foundation.
