  • In this study, concept and importance of e-journal usage statistics has been examined and Journal Usage Factor project performed by Project COUNTER group has been investigated. Advantages and limits of usage statistics generated by library, link resolver and publisher have been clarified. By analyzing various errors and problems included in publisher-generated usage statistics, we conclude that the current usage statistics is not completely credible yet.

  • Recently Usage statistics are widely available from online content providers. However. the statistics are not yet available in a consistent data container and the administrative cost of individual provider-by-provider downloads is high. The Standardized Usage Statistics Harvesting Initiative (SUSHI) is developing an automated request and response protocol for moving Project COUNTER (Counting Online Usage of Networked Electronic Resources) Code of Practice usage statistics from providers to library electronic repositories. SUSHI will help libraries make better decisions by reducing the administrative overhead of using Project COUNTER statistics. Publishers in the recording and exchange of usage statistics for electronic resources, initially journals and databases. By following COUNTER's Code of Practice, vendors can provide library customers with Excel or CSV (comma delimited) files of usage data using COUNTER's standardized formats and data elements. The result is a consistent, credible, and compatible set of usage data from multiple content providers. On this study, We propose the acquisition model of usage data based on SUSHI for KESLI that is overseas electronic journal consortium in korea.

  • The proliferating use of e-journals has led increasing interest in collecting and analyzing usage statistic information. However, the existing manual method and simple journal usage reports provided by publishers hinder the effective collection of large-scale usage statistics and the comprehensive/in-depth analysis on them. Thus we have proposed a hybrid automatic method of collecting e-journal usage statistics based on screen scraping and SUSHI protocol. In addition, the generation method of summary statistics presented in graphs, charts and tables has been suggested in this study. By utilizing the suggested system and analysis data, librarians can compose various reports on budget or operation of the libraries.

  • Recently usage on digital scholarly information has been analyzed with various respects by various parties since the rapid expansion of digital scholarly information use and the increasing availability of large-scale log data. Nevertheless, no standard platform for distributing usage statistics of scholarly information at the national scale has been suggested so far. Therefore, this paper suggests a generalized SUSHI (Standardized Usage Statistics Harvesting Initiative) platform for distributing usage statistics of digital scholarly information at the national scale.

  • This paper is to grasp the current trends of national bibliographies through analyzing representative national bibliographies using literature review, analysis of national bibliographies' web pages and survey. First, in order to conform to the definition of a national bibliography as a record of a national publication, it attempts to include a variety of materials from print to electronic resources, but in reality it cannot contain all the materials, so there are exceptions. It is impossible to create a general selection guide for national bibliography coverage, and a plan that reflects the national characteristics and prepares a valid and comprehensive coverage based on analysis is needed. Second, cooperation with publishers and libraries is being made to efficiently generate national bibliography. For the efficiency of national bibliography generation, changes should be sought such as the standardization and consistency, the collection level metadata description for digital resources, and the creation of national bibliography using linked data. Third, national bibliography is published through the national bibliographic online search system, linked data search, MARC download using PDF, OAI-PMH, SRU, Z39.50, and mass download in RDF/XML format, and is integrated with the online public access catalog or also built separately. Above all, national bibliographies and online public access catalogs need to be built in a way of data reuse through an integrated library system. Fourth, as a differentiated function for national bibliography, various services such as user tagging and national bibliographic statistics are provided along with various browsing functions. In addition, services of analysis of national bibliographic big data, links to electronic publications, and mass download of linked data should be provided, and it is necessary to identify users' needs and provide open services that reflect them in order to develop differentiated services. Through the current trends and considerations of the national bibliographies analyzed in this study, it will be possible to explore changes in national and international national bibliography.
