Operation characteristics of a diode side-pumped, high power Nd:YAG laser (다이오드 측면여기 고출력 Nd:YAG 레이저의 발진특성)

  • We fabricated a high power Nd:YAG laser pumped by a 1 kW diode laser with a Lambertian-type diffusive reflector. Maximum cw power of 500 W with a slope efficiency of 49%, which corresponds to an optical efficiency of 46.7%, was obtained from a short linear resonator when a 5 mm rod was used. The efficiencies decreased when a 6 mm rod was used, due to the poor quality of the absorption distribution in the rod. The measured beam quality factor of 70, which is slightly smaller than the value calculated from the measured thermal focal lengths, shows that the absorption distribution in the rod is fairly uniform. iform.

  • We have developed the measurement system for the high power laser The absorber is made of gold-plated copper cavity. The calibration heater is using a manganin(CuMn12Ni ; Isabellenhutte) coil, and output power is measured by using of resistance bridge with composed manganin and copper coil. Developed system can measure for 5∼1000w laser output power range. Calibration factors are 489.13 J/mV at 100W range and 489.13 J/mV at 500W range. Correction factors are 0.99 at 100W range and 1.006 at 500W range.

  • To analyze the influence of variables of roadheaders, the linear cutting testing data of pick cutter were collected from the former literatures. The input factors were set up as uniaxial compressive strength, cutting depth, cutting spacing, attack angle, skew angle, and output factors were determined as specific energy, average cutting force, maximum cutting force, average vertical force, and maximum vertical force. After composing a table of the design of experiment (DOE). The contribution level of each factor was calculated by analysis of variance (ANOVA). As a result, the factors having greatest influence on cutting force and specific energy were uniaxial compressive strength and cutting spacing.

  • System design parameters of gas generator cycle liquid rocket engines were investigated and compared in the present study. Characteristic velocity of combustor, pressure drop of combustor injector, exit pressure of pump, pump efficiency and specific power of turbine were considered as a system design parameter. The result shows the characteristic velocity is in the range of 1700-1770 m/s, pressure drop of combustor injector, 4-10 bar, pump exit pressure ratio to combustion pressure, 120-230%, pump efficiency, 60-80%, specific power of turbine, $0.28-0.58MW{\cdot}s/kg$.

  • 디젤엔진에서 노킹 현상은 엔진의 성능 및 수명에 직접적인 영향을 주는 중요한 인자이며, 엔진 밸런스 또한 엔진 출력 및 내구성에 직접적인 영향을 미치는 중요한 인자이다. 따라서 노킹 진단 및 엔진 밸런스 보정 알고리즘을 적용하여 ECU를 최적화 하고자 한다. 또한 OBD-II 표준을 사용하여 차량 위주의 진단기를 개발하여 운전자 중심의 진단 서비스를 제공하며, 자동차 고장진단 신호 및 센서 출력 신호를 실시간 통신이 제공 될 수 있게 한다. 이를 위해 자동차 고장진단 신호 및 센서출력 신호를 유선시스템과 무선 시스템인 블루투스 모듈을 이용하여 실시간 통신이 제공 될 수 있는 OBD-II 진단기 S/W를 설계 및 구현하였다.

  • A study of the performance effect of Indolene-Methanol Plus High Alcolhols (MPHA) has been completed. The study invested the measurement of performance parameters. The performance parameters measured are minimum advance for best torque (MBT) spark timing, power output and thermal efficiency. The alcohol concentration was varied from 0 to 100 percent by volume in clear Indolene. The performance parameters were measured using a single cylinder spark ignition engine at different compression ratios. The results of the performance measurements indicated that Indolene-MPHA blends have a higher MBT spark advance, similar power output and lower thermal efficiencies than Indolene-Methanol blends.

  • A active magnetic sensor has been widely used in the underwater guided weapon system because it is able to detect a target accurately in close range, but the target doesn't have any good countermeasure to overcome the threat from the active magnetic sensor. Recently, in order to increase the damage area of target by shock wave with explosion of the underwater weapon system and to detect small target, the maximum target detection range of the active magnetic sensor needs to be increased. One method for improving maximum target detection range is to improve output power from transmitter through demagnetization factor minimization of a transmitting core. Thus, in this paper, we describe the study results on the transmitter core shape design to enhance output power of the active magnetic sensor.

  • This work presents the application of the DFSS (Design for Six Sigma) methodology to optimizing both the linearity and the sensitivity of the output voltage of a Hall-effect rotary position sensor. To this end, the dimensions and relative positions of a permanent magnet with reference to a Hall sensor are selected as the design factors for a full factorial design. In order to evaluate the output voltage of the rotary position sensor at each run in the experimental design, analytical solutions to the magnetic flux density were obtained using the Biot-Savart law and the relations between the magnetic flux density and the output voltage intrinsic to a Hall sensor. Through measurements of the improved output voltage of the rotary position sensors manufactured using the optimized design factors, the proposed method is shown to be simple and practical.
