Due to the advances in machine learning and artificial intelligence technologies, many new services have become available. Among such services, recommendation systems have already been successfully applied to commercial services and made profits as in online shopping malls. Most recommendation algorithms in commercial services are based on content analysis or explicit feedback rates as in movie recommendations. However, many online shopping malls have difficulties in content analysis or are lacking explicit feedbacks on their items, which results in no recommendation system for their items. Even for such service systems, user log data is easily available, and if recommendations are possible with such log data, the quality of their service can be improved. In this paper, we extract implicit feedback like click information for items from log data and provide a recommendation system based on the implicit feedback. The proposed system is applied to a real in-service online shopping mall.

In this paper, we propose a hybrid music recommendation system combining users' listening habits and tag information in a social music site. Most of commercial music recommendation systems recommend music items based on the number of plays and explicit ratings of a song. However, the approach has some difficulties in recommending new items with only a few ratings or recommending items to new users with little information. To resolve the problem, we use tag information which is generated by collaborative tagging. According to the meaning of tags, a weighted value is assigned as the score of a tag of an music item. By combining the score of tags and the number of plays, user profiles are created and collaborative filtering algorithm is executed. For performance evaluation, precision, recall, and F-measure are calculated using the listening habit-based recommendation, the tag score-based recommendation, and the hybrid recommendation, respectively. Our experiments show that the hybrid recommendation system outperforms the other two approaches.
A collaborative filtering which supports personalized services of users has been common use in existing web sites for increasing the satisfaction of users. A collaborative filtering is demanded that items are estimated more than specified number. Besides, it tends to ignore information of other users as recommending them on the basis of information of partial users who have similar inclination. However, there are valuable hidden information into other users' one. In this paper, we use Association Rule, which is common wide use in Data Mining, with collaborative filtering for the purpose of discovering those information. In addition, this paper proved that Association Rule applied to Recommender System has a effects to recommend users by the relation between groups. In other words, Association Rule based on the history of all users is derived from. and the efficiency of Recommender System is improved by using Association Rule with collaborative filtering.
Combining collaborative filtering with some other technique is most common in hybrid recommender systems. As many recommended items from collaborative filtering seem to be similar with respect to content, the collaborative-content hybrid system suffers in terms of quality recommendation and recommending new items as well. To alleviate such problem, we have developed a novel method that uses a diversity metric to select the dissimilar items among the recommended items from collaborative filtering, which together with the input when fed into content space let us improve and include new items in the recommendation. We present experimental results on movielens dataset that shows how our approach performs better than simple content-based system and naive hybrid system.
People constantly strive for better choices. For this reason, recommender system has been developed since the early 1990s. In particular, collaborative filtering technique has shown excellent performance in the field of recommender systems, and research of recommender system using machine learning has been actively conducted. This study constructs recommender system using collaborative filtering and machine learning based on stacking model which is one of ensemble methods. The results of this study confirm that the recommender system with the stacking model is useful in aspects of recommender performance. In the future, the model proposed in this study is expected to help individuals or firms to make better choices.

In this paper, we present VAE-based recommendation using online behavior log and purchase history to overcome data sparsity and cold start. To generate a variable for customers' purchase history, embedding and dimensionality reduction are applied to the customers' purchase history. Also, Variational Autoencoders are applied to online behavior and purchase history. A total number of 12 variables are used, and nDCG is chosen for performance evaluation. Our experimental results showed that the proposed VAE-based recommendation outperforms SVD-based recommendation. Also, the generated purchase history variable improves the recommendation performance.
Personalization recommendations have already proven in many areas of the e-commerce industry. For personalization recommendations, additional work such as reclassifying items is generally necessary, which requires personal information. In this study, we propose a recommendation technique that neither exploit personal information nor reclassify items. We focus on music recommendation and performed experiments with actual music listening data. Experimental analysis shows that the proposed method may result in meaningful recommendations albeit it exploits less amount of data. We analyze the appropriate number of items and present future considerations for contextual recommendation.

This study examined several recommendation techniques to construct an effective book recommender system in a library. Experiments revealed that a hybrid recommendation technique is more effective than either collaborative filtering or content-based filtering technique in recommending books to be borrowed in an academic library setting. The recommendation technique based on association rule turned out the lowest in performance.

Nowadays users spend more time and effort to find what they want because of information overload. To solve the problem, scientific article recommendation system analyse users' needs and recommend them proper articles. However, most of the scientific article recommendation systems neglected the core part, user profile. Therefore, in this paper, instead of mean which applied in user profile in previous studies, New TPIPF (Topic Proportion-Inverse Paper Frequency) was applied to scientific article recommendation system. Moreover, the accuracy of two scientific article recommendation systems with above different methods was compared with experiments of public dataset from online reference manager, CiteULike. As a result, the proposed scientific article recommendation system with TPIPF was proven to be better.
