An Efficient Integer Frequency Offset Estimation Method for OFDM-Based Systems (OFDM 기반 시스템에서 효율적인 정수 주파수 옵셋 추정 기법)

  • This paper proposes a novel method for pilot-aided integer frequency offset (IFO) estimation in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM)-based digital video broadcasting-terrestrial (DVB-T) systems. The conventional method proposed for estimating the IFO uses only partial information of combinations that pilots can provide, which stems from a rigorous assumption that the channel responses of pilots used for estimating the IFO change very rapidly. In this paper, we propose an efficient IFO estimation method exploiting additional information of combinations that pilots can provide to improve the performance of the IFO estimation. The simulation results show that the proposed method outperforms the conventional method in terms of the IFO detection probability.

  • Channel estimation schemes are proposed for Multiple Input-Multiple output Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing(MIMO-OFDM) systems based on the physical layer specification of the IEEE 802.1 la. By combining the space-time block coding(STBC)/ space-frequency block coding(SFBC) techniques with the transform domain interpolation, the proposed algorithms achieve more accurate channel coefficients for the MIMO channels such that improve the BER performance. The performance improvements of the proposed algorithms are evaluated by simulations under the various multipath fading channel environments and various transmission rates.

  • This paper proposes an improved multi-stage timing offset estimation scheme for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems in multipath fading channel environment. The conventional multi-stage timing offset estimation scheme is very sensitive to the random multipath components. By exploiting the sample standard deviation of the cross-correlation values, the proposed scheme achieves a robustness to the random multipath components. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme has a higher correct estimation probability and has a better mean square error (MSE) performance than the conventional scheme in multipath fading channels.

  • A damage identification technique using static displacement data is developed to asses s the structural integrity of bridge structures.As such, the relationship between static displacement and stiffness is derived, and the optimization technique utilized.Comparisons with numerical and experimental tests are performed to investigate the practical applicability of the proposed method.Various damage scenarios are considered by varying damage-width as well as damage-degree. The influence of noise in identifying the damage is also numerically investigated.Finally, the applicability and limitation of the proposed method are discussed.

  • Noise originating from incipient propeller cavitation is assumed to come from a limited number of sources emitting a broadband signal. Conventional methods for cavitation localization have limitations because they cannot distinguish adjacent sound sources effectively due to low accuracy and resolution. On the other hand, sparse Bayesian learning technique demonstrates high-resolution restoration performance for sparse signals and offers greater resolution compared to conventional cavitation localization methods. In this paper, an incipient propeller cavitation localization method using sparse Bayesian learning is proposed and shown to be superior to the conventional method in terms of accuracy and resolution through experimental data from a model ship.

  • SAR imaging 시스템 전파환경에서 목표물의 정보를 성공적으로 추출해 내기 위해서는 반사된 신호를 수신할 때 Coherent detection이 필수적이다. 수신시 Incoherent detection은 복소 위상오차 형태로 나타나서 실제 목표물의 영상에 심각한 Degradation을 야기시켜 치명적인 결과를 초래하게된다. 본 논문에서는 하나의 목표물에서 수신되는 신호를 파동방정식으로부터 모델링하고 모델링된 신호의 각 주파수대의 조합에 의해 전체 수신신호로부터 위상오차의 기울기를 유도한다. 더욱더 정확한 위상오차를 추정하기 위해 추정된 위상오차로부터 수신신호에 포함된 오차를 제거하고, 오차가 제거된 신호의 대역폭을 추정한다. 추정된 대역폭에 맞도록 알고리즘에 재 적용시켜 교정되지 못한 오차를 추정해 나간다. 이때 반복적인 위상오차 제거기법을 적용하고 Iteration의 종료를 자동으로 결정하기 위해 지능형 대역폭 추정 기법을 제시한다. 컴퓨터의 모의 실험에서, 위상오차를 포함한 수신 신호로부터 알고리즘을 적용하여 오차를 제거하고,, Wavefront Reconstruction 기법에 적용시켜 알고리즘의 성능을 영상으로 확인한다.

A Robust OFDMA Channel Estimation Against Imperfect Synchronization (불완전 동기 환경에 강인한 OFDMA 채널 추정기법)

  • We propose a robust channel estimation method against imperfect synchronization in orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) downlink systems. We address time and frequency synchronization, and the channel estimation at the same time, and try to minimize the error propagation from the time and frequency synchronization steps into the chailnel estimation. The simulation results show that the proposed channel estimation method outperforms the conventional algorithms by about 3dB, and circumvents the problem of mismatch among the synchronization tasks.

해상교통량 추정기법에 관한 연구

  • 해상교통안전에 영향을 미치는 여러 가지 해상 개발사업으로 인하여 발생할 수 있는 항해안전의 위험요인을 전문적으로 측정하고 평가하는 것으로 '해상교통안전진단제도'가 있다. 이제도의 주요 평가항목에는 해상교통 현황조사, 해상교통 현황측정, 해상 교통시스템 적정성 평가 및 해상교통 안전대책이 있다. 특히 해상교통 현황측정의 세부 항목 중에는 진단 대상 항만 또는 항로가 추정된 미래의 해상교통량을 수용할 수 있는지를 평가하고 필요 시 관련 해역의 교통 흐름을 조정할 목적으로 수행하는 해상교통혼잡도 평가 있다. 이 연구는 현재 교통혼잡도 평가를 위한 미래 해상교통량 추정기법의 문제점의 현황과 이를 개선하여 신뢰도 있는 교통량 예측이 가능한 통계기법을 개발하고자 하는 것이다.

  • In Wireless Sensor Network(WSN)s, the detection of precise location of each node is essential for utilizing sensing data acquired from sensor nodes effectively. Among various location methods, the received signal strength(RSS) based localization scheme is mostly preferable in many applications because it can be easily implemented without any additional hardware cost. Since a RSS-based localization scheme is mainly affected by radio channel or obstacles such as building and mountain between two nodes, the localization error can be inevitable. To enhance the accuracy of localization in RSS-based localization scheme, a number of RSS measurements are needed, which results in the energy consumption. In this paper, a RSS based localization using Bayesian Compressive Sensing(BSS) with path-loss exponent estimation is proposed to improve the accuracy of localization in the energy-efficient way. In the propose scheme, we can increase the adaptative, reliability and accuracy of localization by estimating the path-loss exponents between nodes, and further we can enhance the energy efficiency by the compressive sensing. Through the simulation, it is shown that the proposed scheme can enhance the location accuracy of multiple unknown nodes with fewer RSS measurements and is robust against the channel variation.

  • 본 논문에서는 다중 경로상의 DS-CDMA 시스템을 위해 우리가 이미 제안한 Rake 수신기와 다이버시티 결합 구조를 이용하는 CMA 기반의 적응 간섭 제거 기법에서 실제 채널 추정 기법을 사용할 때 부정확한 채널추정이 성능에 미치는 영향을 검증하였으며, sliding widow averaging 형태의 단순한 채널 추정 기법을 이용할 경우 slow 페이딩 및 fast 페이딩 환경에서의 모의실험 결과 이상적인 채널 추정을 가정한 경우와 유사한 우수한 성능을 보임을 확인하였다.
