Optimization of the Extrusion Processing Conditions of Soymilk Residue and Corn Grits Mixture (두유박과 옥분 혼합물 압출성형 제조공정의 최적화)

  • The extrusion conditions of the soymilk residue and corn grits mixtures were optimized. The experiment was designed according to the D-optimal design of response surface methodology (RSM), which shows 18 experimental points including 4 replicates for three independent variables (screw speed, water content and die temperature). The responses variables such as bending force, expansion ratio, bulk density, water solubility index (WSI), water absorption index (WAI), and color values (L*, a*, b*) were evaluated using response surface analysis. Expansion ratio and WSI decreased with increasing water content, whereas bulk density tended to increase with increasing water content. While greater screw speeds enhanced WSI and yellowness, higher moisture contents decreased the expansion ratio and WSI value. However, die temperature did not influence upon the response variables. The optimum extrusion conditions by numerical and graphical methods were similar: the screw speed, water content, and die temperature were 250 rpm, 22.43% and l28.16$^{\circ}C$ by the numerical method; 250 rpm, 22.43%, and 128.02$^{\circ}C$ by graphical method.

  • A kernel in support vector machines can be described as a similarity measure between data, and this measure is used to find an optimal hyperplane that classifies patterns. It is therefore important to effectively incorporate the characteristics of data into the similarity measure. To find an optimal similarity between amino acid sequences, we propose a real exponent exponential form of the two metrices, which are derived from the evolutionary relationships of amino acids and the hydrophobicity of amino acids. We prove that the proposed metric satisfies the conditions to be a metric, and we find a relation between the proposed metric and the metrics in the string kernels which are widely used for the processing of amino acid sequences and DNA sequences. In the prediction experiments on the cleavage site of the signal peptide, the optimal metric can be found in the proposed metrics.

Analysis of Optimal Mixture Ratio for Extrudate of the Soymilk Residue and Corn Grits by Mixture Design (혼합물 실험 계획법에 의한 두유박과 옥분 압출성형물의 최적 혼합비 분석)

  • Experimental designs were applied to optimize the mixture ratio for the extrudate made by soymilk residue and corn grits. Nine candidate points were examined for their significance on extrudate using the modified distance design. Bending force, expansion ratio, bulk density, water solubility index (WSI), water absorption index (WAI) and color $(L^*,\;a^*,\;b^*)$ were the significant factors improving the extruded cereal production, and these values were applied to the mathematical models. Results showed that bending force, expansion ratio WSI, WAI and color $(L^*,\;b^*)$ increased with increasing the corn grits, whereas bulk density tended to decrease. The statistical study showed that the fitted models were adequate to describe the contour plot and all responses. Optimum mixture ratio allowing to maximize the two responses (expansion ratio and $b^*$) and minimize the response (WAI) were examined with a numerical optimization methods. The numerical optimization method was obtained as 53.18% : 46.19% (corn grits : soymilk residue).

Influence of process Parameters on the Surface Roughness and the Striation Formation of the Cut Section for the Case of Cutting of CSP 1N Sheet using High Power CW Nd:YAG Laser (고출력 CW Nd:YAG 레이저를 이용한 CSP1N 냉연강판 절단시 공정변수의 절단면 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • Laser cutting technology is one of flexible rapid manufacturing technologies with various advantageous including a high cutting speed, manufacturing of parts with a complex shape and others. The quality of the cut part and the optimum cutting conditions are highly dependent on the combination of the process parameters. The objective of this research works is to investigate the influence of process parameters, such as power of laser, cutting speed of laser and material thickness, on the surface roughness and the striation formation of the cut section for the case of cutting of CSP 1N sheet using high power Nd:YAG Laser with a continuous wave (CW). In order to find the relationship between process parameters and the surface roughness and the striation formation of the cut section, several experiments are carried out. Through the investigation of the empirical results, it has been shown that the surface roughness is highly related to the striation formation, including the frequency and angle of the striation, of the cut section. From the results of experiments, an optimum cutting speed for each cutting condition has been obtained to improve both the quality of the cut surface and the cutting efficiency.

Effects of the Preparing Conditions on the Physical Properties of Surface Grown UHMW PE Fibers (표면성장 폴리에틸렌 섬유의 제조조건이 그물리적 성질에 미치는 영향)

  • 초고분자량 폴리에틸렌을 파라 크실렌에 녹인 희박 용액에 전단흐름을 가해 섬유를 뽑아내는 방법에 대해 연구하였다. 표면성장이라 불리는 이 방법을 용액내에서 회전하는 rotor 의 표면에 흡착된 젤 층에, 결정성이 강한씨(seed)를 접촉시킴으로써 엉킨 분자쇄들이 전단력에 의해 신장되어 분자의 자유에너지가 증가하도록 하여 연속적으로 고강력, 고탄성 률 결정을 뽑아내게 한 것이다. 이표면성장법으로 섬유를 얻는데 있어서 결정화온도 rotor 속도, 권취속도 및 고분자 농도와 같은 결정화 변수를 변화시키면서 섬유의 물리적 성질에 미치는 영향을 관찰하였다. 이방법으로 섬유를 성장시키면 열역학적 평형온도(118.6$^{\circ}C$) 이상 인 12$0^{\circ}C$에서 성장시켰을 때 133GPa의 인장 탄성계수 3.1%의 절단신도에서 5.04GPa의 고 강력을 갖는 섬유를 얻을수 있었다. 또한 이방법에 있어서는 결정화 온도가 물리적 성질에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 인자로 작용하였다, 고분자 농도의 영향은 0.7wt.% 이상에선 물리적 성질이 더 이상 개선되지 않았으며 오히려 장력의 증가로 불안정한 성장을 보였다. 또한 0.5wt%이하에서는 젤층의 형성이 둔화됨을 볼수 있었다. 결국 물리적 성질의 측면에서 볼 때 0.5~0.7wt%에서 최적조건을 보여주었다.

Changes in the Chemical Composition and Textural Properties of Korean Cabbage during Salting (배추의 염장과정 중 성분변화와 조직감의 변화)

  • The effects of salting on the compositional and textural changes of Korean cabbage were studied. The optimum brining conditions were established ana the dietary fiber composition, mineral contents and moisture content of raw and salted Korean cabbage were determined. The cutting test of cabbage was made by Rheometer and the brittleness and chewiness were evaluated organoleptically. The optimum condition for brining was at 20% NaCl concentration for 6 hours. In the compositional changes of Korean cabbage by salting at 20% NaCl solution for one month, the content of hot water soluble pectin (HW-P) increased from 43.6% to 55.9% and that of hexametaphosphate soluble pectin (HM-P) decreased from 35.9% to 29.5%. The contents of cellulose and hemicellulose increased, but that of lignin decreased slightly by salting, showing no significant differences in raw and salted cabbage. The content of Na increased significantly and those of Ca, Mg and K decreased by salting. And also moisture content decreased from 91% to 79%. In the textural changes of Korean cabbage by salting, the maximum cutting force and cutting work increased five times and two and half times respectively. And organoleptic test did show significant increase in chewiness and decrease in brittleness. The maximum cutting force by Rheometer was well correlated with the sensory parameters. The results taken together showed that the changes in textural properties during salting are relevant to the changes in pectic substances, moisture content and mineral contents, but relatively irrelevant to the changes in cellulose, hemi-cellulose ana lignin. And it is considered that the maximum cutting force by cutting test is good means for the expression of texture of Korean cabbage.

  • The remarkable progress of electronics and radio communications technology has made our life abundant. On the other hand, the countermeasure of EMC becomes more important socially according to the increased use of electromagnetic waves. It had been required that the absorbing ability of an electromagnetic wave absorber is more than 20 dB, the bandwidth of which is required through 30 MHz to 1,000 MHz for satisfying the international standard about an anechoic chamber for EMI/EMS measurement. From November of 1998, however, the CISPR11 has accepted the extended frequency band from 30 MHz to 18 GHz in the bandwidth of EMI measurement. In this paper, we proposed the cutting com-shaped type satisfying the above requirments and carried out broadband design using the equivalent material constants method. Moreover, we have fabricated it and compared its characteristics with simulated one.

  • Cutting procedures whose qualifies are determined by various variables largely influences shipbuilding productivity. Particularly, defects in cutting shapes and cutting surface results in delay of the post shipbuilding stages such as welding and assemblage process. Because cutting procedures are influenced by various numbers of requirements according to the plate thickness, cutting precision can be maintained when the cutting conditions are appropriate. Existing cutting procedures utilize fossil fuels such as propane or ethylene as the main fuel component. Especially, when fossil fuel is applied to thick plate cutting, this process gives relatively slow cutting speed and generates large quantities of harmful polluting fumes. Recently, hydrogen-oxygen mixed gas generated by electrically dissociating water into Hydrogen and oxygen components is welcomed as an alternative fuel source. Also recent results report that alternative cutting fuel improves the cutting Dualities and speed. This paper presents that cutting characteristics and optimum cutting condition of hydrogen-oxygen mixed gas.

  • 양파의 껍질에 칼금을 내고 꼭지와 뿌리를 절단한 후 회전하는 두 개의 롤러 위에 양파를 낙하시켜 구르게 하면서 그 위에 고압공기를 분사시켜 양파의 외각 껍질을 제거하는 공기분사식 박피장치의 최적 작동조건을 구명하기 위하여 수행한 시험결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1, 박피장치에 고압공기를 분사하지 않았을 때, 롤러의 원주속도가 빠를수록, 양파의 무게가 가벼울수록 구름소요시간은 줄어들었고 직경방향 구름율이 가장 높았는데, 직경방향 구름소요시간이 가장 짧게 나타나는 주롤러의 원주속도는 2.4 m/s이었다. 2. 주롤러의 원주속도 2.4 m/s일 때 양파의 무게, 분사공기압 및 칼금수가 증가할수록 박피율은 증가하였으며, 박피율이 가장 높은 조건은 칼금수 4개, 분사공기압 3.5 kg/$cm^2$이상이었다. 3. 박피소요시간은 칼금수가 많을수록, 분사공기압이 높을수록 짧아지는 것으로 나타났고, 칼금수를 4개로 하고 분사공기압을 4.0 kg/$cm^2$이상으로 하면 박피소요시간을 2초 이하로 유지할 수 었다. 4. 양파의 껍질강도는 저장기일과 조건에 따라 다르므로 모든 양파의 박피를 위해서는 분사 공기압을 4.0 kg/$cm^2$이상으로 하고 공기분사시간을 2초에서 5초가지 조절할 수 있는 장치를 부착하는 것이 좋을 것으로 판단된다. 5. 시험에 사용된 양파는 무게는 150~350$\pm$30 g, 직경 60~120 mm의 크기로 우리나라에서 생산되는 양파의 98%에 적용이 가능할 것으로 생각된다.
