In this paper, we developed a system which can detect and can alarm about the sailing provocative climate by using a photo. The research on domestic shipbuilding industry and in IT fusion technology is under construction, but a reliable safety device which can alarm a sailor about the circumstances of the fog and rain during ship operation as soon as possible due to the constant state in domestic. In this paper, a compact, for system low-power transceiver and data processing equipment for sensing were developed, also a performance evaluation got accomplished with simulation analysis. In results, it is operating normally at least 32.36[dB] and maximum values f 89.20[dB] in the domestic, and 32.55 to 60.66[dB] in the outdoors.
In this paper we analyzed the search patterns for the anti-submarine warfare (ASW) surface ships cooperating with ASW helicopters. For this purpose, we modeled evasive motion of a submarine with a probabilistic method. And maneuvers and search actions of ships and helicopters participating in the anti-submarine search mission are designed. And for each simulation scenario, the case where a ship and a helicopter searches a submarine independently according to its optimized search pattern is compared with the case where the search platforms participate in the ASW mission cooperatively. Based on the simulation results, we proposed the reconfigured search patterns that help cooperative ASW surface ships increase the total cumulative detection probability (CDP).
This paper proposes a signal modelling method that can effectively detect the shock wave(SW) sound and muzzle blast(MB) sound from the gunshot of a small arm rifle. In order to localize a counter sniper in battlefield, an accurate detection of both shock wave sound and muzzle blast sound are the necessary keys in estimating the direction and the distance of the counter sniper. To verify the performance of the proposed algorithm, a real gunshot sound in a domestic military shooting range was recorded and analyzed. From the experimental results, the proposed signal modelling method was found to be superior to the comparative system more than 20% in a shock wave detection and 5% in a muzzle blast detection, respectively.
In this study, a digital elevation model (DEM) in tidal flat of Suncheon Bay, one of the most ecological preserved area in the world, was generated from digital aerial stereo-images. The focal lengths for the aerial stereo-images were adjusted using ground control points (GCPs) in order to improve the accuracy of camera parameters. We proposed matching sizes suitable for generating DEM in tidal flat and a method for eliminating excessive position errors using intersection-distance($P_R$) threshold value. The accuracies of the DEM generated from the proposed method as well as the commercial S/W were compared with the elevation profiles measured by Total Station in the filed. As the results, the DEM generated by the proposed method showed better result (maximum deviation is a -21 centimeters) with detailed topography than DEM by the commercial S/W in the region. These results suggest that the DEM of tidal flat, which hardly obtained with the traditional methods, can be generated from digital aerial images by applying the proposed method in this study. We believe that the generated DEM in tidal flat can be an essential data for monitoring the sediment erosion and deposit of the tidal flat.

Continuous space development increases the occurrence probability of space hazards such as collapse of a satellite and collision between a satellite and space debris. In Korea, a space surveillance network with optical system has been developed; however, the radar technology for an independent space surveillance needs to be secured. Herein, an L-band phased array radar system for the detection and tracking of space objects is proposed to provide a number of services including collision avoidance and the prediction of re-entry events. With the mission analysis of space surveillance and the case analysis of foreign advanced radar systems, the radar parameters are defined and designed. The proposed radar system is able to detect a debris having a diameter of 10 cm at a maximum distance of 1,576 km. In addition, we confirmed the possibility of using the space surveillance mission for domestic satellites through the analysis of the detection area.

STDR (sequence time domain reflectometry) to detect a cable fault using a pseudo noise sequence as a reference signal, and time correlation analysis between the reference signal and reflection signal is robust to noisy environments and can detect intermittent faults including open faults and short circuits. On the other hand, if the distance of the fault location is far away or the fault type is a soft fault, attenuation of the reflected signal becomes larger; hence the correlation coefficient in the STDR becomes smaller, which makes fault detection difficult and the measurement error larger. In addition, automation of the fault location by detection of phase and peak value becomes difficult. Therefore, to improve the cable fault detection of a conventional STDR, this paper proposes the algorithm in that the peak value of the correlation coefficient of the reference signal is detected, and a peak value of the correlation coefficient of the reflected signal is then detected after removing the reference signal. The performance of the proposed method was validated experimentally in low-voltage power cables. The performance evaluation showed that the proposed method can identify whether a fault occurred more accurately and can track the fault locations better than conventional STDR despite the signal attenuation. In addition, there was no error of an automatic fault type and its location by the detection of the phase and peak value through the elimination of the reference signal and normalization of the correlation coefficient.
Infrasound signals associated with the 29 May 2004 offshore Uljin earthquake (Mw 5.1) were recorded at infrasound arrays of CHNAR (epicentral distance of 321 km) and TJNAR (256 km). Back-azimuths, indicating the directions to source locations, varied more than 28° broadly for the long-lasting signals over several minutes. From the analysis of the back-projecting location method and attenuation correction for infrasound propagation, the infrasound waves were to be generated by the interaction (diffraction) between seismic waves and topography in an area of ~4,600 ㎢ connecting the Samcheok-Uljin-Pohang regions. The maximum sound source pressure (BSP) was estimated to be 11.1 Pa. This result was consistent with the peak sound pressure (PSP) calculated by the Rayleigh integral approximation to the peak ground acceleration (PGA) dataset. In addition, the minimum PGA that was detectable at the two arrays was estimated to be ~3.0 cm s-2. Although the earthquake occurred offshore, diffracted infrasound signals were effectively generated by ground motions when seismic surface waves passed through high-topographic regions in the eastern Korean Peninsula. The relationship between infrasound source pressure and PGA can be applicable to characterize the ground motions in areas with insufficient seismological observatories.

Weakly electric fish uses active sensing to detect the distortion of self-generated electric field in the underwater environments. The active electrolocation makes it possible to identify target objects from the surroundings without vision in the dark sea. Weakly electric fish have many electroreceptors over the whole body surface of electric fish, and sensor readings from a collection of electroreceptors are represented as an electric image. Many researchers have worked on finding features in the electric image to know how the weakly electric fish identify the target object. In this paper, we suggest a new mechanism of how the electrolocation can recognize a given target object among object plants. This approach is based on the differential components of the electric image, and has a potential to be applied to the underwater robotic system for object localization.

In the case of a small UUV operating an active synthetic aperture sonar, various velocity disturbances may occur on the path due to the influence of external underwater environment, and this causes phase errors in coherent synthetic aperture processing, which has a large influence on the detected image. In this paper, when a periodic sinusoidal velocity disturbance is generated in the traveling direction, the phase generated by the round trip slope range at each position is estimated the cross correlation coefficient for multiple received signals and compensated the position variation in the overlapped DPC by the average value within the maximum allowable width. Through simulations, it has been confirmed that the images degraded by the velocity disturbance amplitude and fluctuating frequency of the UUV are removed from the false targets and the performance of azimuth resolution is improved by the proposed phase compensation method.

This paper describes the construction and experimetal results of prototype digital telesounder developed to monitor remotely the fish school entered in setnet. The telesounder consists of the sea station and land station. The former consists of an ultrasonic transceiving part of 50 KHz, a hand made 16 bits single board computer (SBC), and a RF MODEM of 9600 bps for data link. The SBC controls the trigger signal to transmit the ultrasonic pulse, maximum detection range, sampling rate in analog to digital converter and data link. The sampling rate of echo data was 80 ${\mu}$s. The later consists of a RF MODEM same as the former one and 486 notebook computer which displays the echogram and saves its raw data. The authors carried out some experiments to confirm the practical use of the telesounder. At results the echogram obtained on the land station is sufficiently good and clear to monitor the behavior of fish school in setnet.
