GIS-based Debris Flow Risk Assessment (GIS 기반 토석류 위험도 평가)

  • As heavy precipitation rates have increased due to climate change, the risk of landslides has also become greater. Studies in the field of disaster risk assessment predominantly focus on evaluating intrinsic importance represented by the use or role of facilities. This work, however, focused on evaluating risks according to the external conditions of facilities, which were presented via debris flow simulation. A random walk model (RWM) was partially improved and used for the debris flow simulation. The existing RWM algorithm contained the problem of the simulation results being overly concentrated on the maximum slope line. To improve the model, the center cell height was adjusted and the inertia application method was modified. Facility information was collected from a digital topographic map layer. The risk level of each object was evaluated by combining the simulation result and the digital topographic map layer. A risk assessment technique suitable for the polygon and polyline layers was applied, respectively. Finally, by combining the evaluated risk with the attribute table of the layer, a system was prepared that could create a list of objects expected to be damaged, derive various statistics, and express the risk of each facility on a map. In short, we used an easy-to-understand simulation algorithm and proposed a technique to express detailed risk information on a map. This work will aid in the user-friendly development of a debris flow risk assessment system.

A Mathematical Model for Coordinated Multiple Reservoir Operation (댐군의 연계운영을 위한 수학적 모형)

  • In this study, for the purpose of water supply planning, we propose a sophisticated multi-period mixed integer programming model that can coordinate the behavior of multi-reservoir operation, minimizing unnecessary spill. It can simulate the system with operating rules which are self- generated by the optimization engine in the algorithm. It is an optimization model in structure, but it indeed simulates the coordinating behavior of multi-reservoir operation. It minimizes the water shortfalls in demand requirements, maintaining flood reserve volume, minimizing unnecessary spill, maximizing hydropower generation release, keeping water storage levels high for efficient hydroelectric turbine operation. This optimization model is a large scale mixed integer programming problem that consists of 3.920 integer variables and 68.658 by 132.384 node-arc incidence matrix for 28 years of data. In order to handle the enormous amount of data generated by a big mathematical model, the utilization of DBMS (data base management system)seems to be inevitable. It has been tested with the Han River multi-reservoir system in Korea, which consists of 2 large multipurpose dams and 3 hydroelectric dams. We demonstrated successfully that there is a good chance of saving substantial amount of water should it be put to use in real time with a good inflow forecasting system.

  • 연료전지는 전기에너지와 열에너지를 동시에 사용 할 수 있기 때문에 에너지 효율이 높고 유해 배기물이 거의 없으므로 친환경적이다. 따라서 환경문제가 대두되고 있는 오늘날, 고효율 친환경의 연료 전지는 차세대 에너지원으로 각광받고 있다. 보일러와 계통선에서 열과 전기를 공급받는 기존방식에 비해 연료전지 코제너레이션 시스템의 경우 20%이상 에너지 절감율을 향상시킬 수 있다. 기존 10kW이하의 소용량 발전설비의 경우 대형 발전소와 같은 수준인 30%이상의 전기 효율을 기대할 수 없으나 고분자 전해질 연료전지를 적용할 경우 1kW급에서도 35%의 전기 효율을 기대할 수 있으며 열회수까지 고려할 경우 80%에 가까운 열효율을 달성할 수 있다.(4)연료전지 시스템은 연료전지 스택 이외에, 연료변환장치, 급기설비, 열 및 물관리 설비, 전력변환장치 그리고 제어 장치 등으로 구성된다. 연료전지 시스템 성능은 연료전지 스택의 성능에 가장 의존적인데 연료전지 스택의 성능은 같은 스택이라도 운전 및 제어 방법에 따라서 다양하게 변할 수 있다. 실제로 연료전지 스택 자체의 전기 변환 효율은 최대 40% 까지로 매우 높으나, 다양한 운전 조건에 따라 효율이 30~40% 수준에서 변화는 것이 현실이다. 때문에 시스템을 설계할 때에는 종합화된 시스템 측면에서의 운전까지 고려한 설계와 성능 해석이 필요하다. 그간 연료전지를 활용한 가정용 열병합 발전분야에서는 시스템 설계를 위한 시뮬레이션 기반 성능 해석에 관한 연구가 활발히 진행되어왔다. 하지만 연료전지 스택의 경우 간이화된 성능 모델식을 사용하여 이로 인한 성능 예측모델의 오차가 크게 발생하여 전체 시스템 최적화의 저해요인으로 작용하여왔다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 가정용 연료전지 열병합 발전 시스템을 자체적으로 설계 개발하였으며 이 중 연료전지 스택의 성능모델을 실험기반으로 구축하였다. 먼저 가정용 연료전지 열병합 발전 시스템의 설계는 크게 네 단계로 구분되며 이는 1) 시스템 개념 설계, 2) 연료전지 스택 설계, 3) 주변장치 설계, 4) 제어시스템 설계로 이뤄진다. 연료전지 스택의 성능 모델은 고분자연료전지의 성능에 가장 민감하게 영향을 미치는 온도 및 습도의 변화에 따른 다양한 스택 성능을 예측 가능하도록 개발하였으며 이는 간단한 이론 모델의 구조에 실험 데이터를 기반으로 모델 파라미터를 도출하는 기법으로 이뤄졌다.

Analysis of the Impact of the 8th Basic Plan for Long-term Electricity Supply and Demand on the District Heating Business Through Optimal Simulation of Gas CHP (가스 열병합발전 최적 시뮬레이션 분석을 통한 집단에너지 사업자에 미치는 8차 전력 수급계획의 영향 분석)

  • To respond effectively to climate change following the launch of the new climate system, the government is seeking to expand the use of distributed power resources. Among them, the district heating system centered on Combined Heat and Power (CHP) is accepted as the most realistic alternative. On the other hand, the government recently announced the change of energy paradigm focusing on eco-friendly power generation from the base power generation through $8^{th}$ Basic Plan for Long-term Electricity Supply and Demand(BPE). In this study, we analyzed the quantitative effects of profit and loss on the CHP operating business by changing patterns of the heat production, caused by the change of energy paradigm. To do this, the power market long-term simulation was carried out according to the $7^{th}$ and $8^{th}$ BPE respectively, using the commercialized power market integrated analysis program. In addition, the CHP operating model is organized to calculate the power and heat production level for each CHP operation mode by utilizing the operating performance of 830MW class CHP in Seoul metropolitan area. Based on this, the operation optimization is performed for realizing the maximum operating profit and loss during the life-cycle of CHP through the commercialized integrated energy optimization program. As a result, it can be seen that the change of the energy paradigm of the government increased the level of the ordered power supply by Korean Power Exchange(KPX), decreased the cost of the heat production, and increased the operating contribution margin by 90.9 billion won for the 30 years.

  • 석탄으로부터 합성석유를 생산하는 상용기술을 도입하여 건설하고 이와 더불어 원천기술 개발을 위한 국산화 기술 개발을 병행하여 향후 고유가 시대를 대비한 국가 에너지 안보 확립과 국내 기술 개발의 가속화를 추구해야 할 필요성이 대두되고 있다. 본 타당성 조사는 3종류의 석탄(호주 Wyong탄, 인도네시아 NTC탄, 인도네시아 KBB탄)으로부터 가스화에 의하여 합성석유스를 생산하는 공정에 대한 타당성 조사(Feasibility Study, FS)를 Class 5(하한 -50~-20%, 상한 30~100%)의 정확도로 수행하는 것을 내용으로 하고 있다. 플랜트의 규모는 합성석유 기준으로 20,000배럴/일이다. 플랜트의 건설을 위해서 광양제철소 슬래그처리장 내 12만평 부지에 조성 중인 포스코 SNG 생산공장 부지의 일부를 사용하는 것을 기준으로 하였다. 일반적으로 석탄의 종류에 따라서 가스화기의 종류 및 성능이 결정된다. 본 타당성 조사 연구에서 선정된 3종류의 석탄의 조성, 발열량, 회분 함량 등의 특성을 고려하여 각각의 석탄에 적합한 현존하는 상용급 가스화기를 선정하였다. 해당 석탄이 가스화기 종류에 따라 적절한 전처리 과정(건조, 분쇄, 슬러리화)을 거친 후 가스화기에 공급되는 것을 가정하여 석탄의 원소분석 조성, 발열량, 회분함량, 회분조성, 회 용융점 등의 변수에 따라서 각각 해당 가스화기에서 가스화되었을 때의 생성되는 합성가스의 조건을 시뮬레이션을 통하여 얻었다. 가스화기 시뮬레이션 결과를 토대로 합성석유 및 합성천연가스 생산을 위한 공정의 물질수지식 및 에너지수지식이 계산되었으며 이로부터 각 공정에서 발생되는 부생성물과 폐기물에 대한 양이 결정되고 이를 처리하는 방안 등도 제시되었다. 실증시설은 20,000배럴/일 규모의 CTL 및 전기 병산 시설이 적합하다. 더 큰 규모 공장은 투자비가 너무 커서 유가 또는 석탄가 변동에 따라 사업의 수익성이 크게 변하여 위험도가 큰 단점이 있기 때문이다. CTL 공장에 전기 병산이 추천되는 이유는 산소생산공장(APU), 압축 등 석탄전환공장에는 자체적인 전기수요가 막대하여 따로 스팀터빈용 발전소를 운영하므로 이를 효율적으로 대체하고자 하기 때문이다. 즉, 석탄가스화에 의해 기름을 최대한 만들고 미반응가스는 가스터빈 및 스팀터빈의 복합발전에 의해 고효율로 전기를 생산하면 최소의 비용으로 최대한 전기를 생산하여 자체소비 전력을 충당하고 남는 전기는 판매하여 수익률을 높일 수 있다.

A Study on Optimal Configuration Method of Hybrid ESS using Lead-acid and Lithium-ion Batteries for Supply of Variation Loads (변동부하 공급을 위한 하이브리드 ESS의 연축전지와 리튬이온전지의 최적구성방안에 관한 연구)

  • The large scaled lead-acid battery is widely used for efficient operation of the photovoltaic system in many islands. However, lithium-ion battery is now being introduced to mitigate the fluctuation of wind power and to replace lead-acid battery. Therefore, hybrid ESS (Energy Storage system) that combines lithium-ion battery with lead-acid battery is being required because lithium-ion battery is costly in present stage. Under this circumstance, this paper presents the optimal algorithm to create composition rate of hybrid ESS by considering fixed and variable costs in order to maximize advantage of each battery. With minimization of total cost including fixed and variable costs, the optimal composition rate can be calculated based on the various scenarios such as load variation, life cycle and cost trend. From simulation results, it is confirmed that the proposed algorithms are an effective tool to produce a optimal composition rate.

  • Recently, the large scaled lead-acid battery is widely introduced to efficient operation of the photovoltaic system in many islands. but the demand of lithium-ion battery is getting increased by the operation of wind power and replacement of the lead-acid battery. And also, under the renewable portfolio standard(RPS) and energy efficiency resource standard(EERS) policy of Korea government, the introduction of energy storage system(ESS) has been actively increased. Therefore, this paper presents the operation algorithm of hybrid battery management system(BMS) using the lead-acid and lithium-ion batteries, in order to maximize advantage of each battery. In other words, this paper proposed the algorithm of state of charge(SOC) and hybrid operation algorithm to calculate the optimal composition rate considering the fixed cost and operation cost of each battery. From the simulation results, it is confirmed that the proposed algorithms are an effective tool to evaluate SOC and to optimally operate hybrid ESS.

An Effectiveness Analysis of pedestrian crosswalk signal on roundabout (회전교차로의 보행신호 설치효과 분석)

  • Roundabouts have been operated in Europe, America and Australia since the 1970s, and many relevant researches continually was carried out. Though many studies regarding roundabout have been recently conducted in korea, most of them have focused on its operational safety and efficiency. Moreover, roundabout design guideline did not define a clear criteria related to pedestrian in roundabout, but seldom investigate the influences of pedestrian on crosswalk. In this study, we seek ways to operate the pedestrian crosswalk signal on roundabout maximizing their operational effects in exceptional case such as rush hour or intersection near the special facilities. We proved that roundabout signal operation is effective under certain circumstances in according to the number of pedestrian, and suggested the optimal signal timing plan for signalized roundabouts. For pursuing the above, we conducted the simulation test using the VISSIM model. The results show that the operational effectiveness of signalized roundabout was evaluated to be better than non-signalized roundabout in specific pedestrian volume condition. In addition, those results are confirmed using simulation analysis conducted on the real roundabout.

  • In this paper, the PV system with a link to the commercial system needs some advantages like small capacity, high power factor, high reliability, low harmonic output, maximum power operation of solar cell, and low cost, etc. as well as the properties of inverter. To transfer the PV energy of photovoltaic power generation system to the system and load, it requires PCS in both directions. The purpose of this paper is to confirm the stable power supply through the load leveling by presenting the PCS considering ESS of photovoltaic power generation. In order to achieve these purpose, 5 step process of operation mode algorithm were used according to the solar insolation amount and load capacity and the controller for charging/ discharging control was designed. For bidirectional and effective energy transfer, the bidirectional converter and battery at DC-link stage were connected and the DC-link voltage and inverter output voltage through the interactive inverter were controlled. In order to prove the validity of the suggested system, the simulation using PSIM was performed and were reviewed for its validity and stability. The 3[kW] PCS was manufactured and its test was conducted in order to check this situation. In addition, the system characteristics suggested through the test results was verified and the PCS system presented in this study was excellent and stronger than that of before system.

Performance Analysis of GT/ST Hybrid System for Marine Power Applications(under Conditions of Air-Cooled Gas Turbine) (가스터빈의 냉각공기를 고려한 선박동력용 GT/ST 하이브리드시스템의 성능 평가)

  • A future type ship power system requires both economic and eco-friendliness. That is, this should be reduced the discharge quantity of air pollutants and green-house gases as well as have high energy efficiency. Recently, gas turbines have been realized a lot of technical development in terms of efficiency and safety, and are widening the example of their adoption to a GT/ST hybrid system in a power plant as well as an aviation use. This paper reviewed the performance characteristics of a GT/ST hybrid system of several ten MW class, not large capacity, with a simulation in order to evaluate the possibility of a GT/ST hybrid system for ships. The reviewed GT/ST hybrid system has maximum 49 % efficiency, has the highest efficiency point for TIT, and has a 70~75 % and 25~30 % load ratio for a gas turbine and a steam turbine respectively.
