Soybean sprouts treated with growth regulators (IAA and BA) had considerably shorter roots than control. The weight and diameter of treated sprouts were increased by $10{\sim}20%$ and 40%, respectively, compared with control. Crude protein and fat contents of the treated soybean sprouts were higher than those of the control by $5{\sim}10%$ and 10%, respectively. Vitamin C contents of the treated soybean sprout were 38mg%, which corresponds to 70% more vitamin C. Soybean sprouts contained 16 amino acids and the treated sprouts contained more arginine, histidine, lysine and methionine than the control, but significantly less proline. Fatty acid compositions of the treated sprouts and the control were similar, and the ratio unsaturated/saturated fatty acids was about 4.4 in the treated and control sprouts.

Plant growth promoting activity of quinolinone metabolites, 2-(2-hepteny)-3-methyl-4-quinolinone (1), 2-heptyl-3-methyl-4-quinolinone, and 2-nonyl-3-methyl-4-quinolinone, produced by Pseudomonas cepacia and ethyl 2-methyl-3-alkyl-4-quinolinone carboxylates chemically synthesized were tested by using seed-germination assay, growth increments in plant height after foliar applications. Plant height increment, fresh weight, and the number of fruits were measured after seed-soaking and drench treatment. Compound 1 among the natural products showed a consistent growth promoting effect in seed-germination and plant height after a foliar application. After a seed-soaking and drench treatment, compound 1 and synthetic ethyl 2-methyl-4-quinolinone-3-carboxylate (5) showed a significant enhancement in fresh weight and the number of fruits after harvest. Compound 1 and 5 increased the number of fruits per plant by 44% and 84% over the control, respectively.

Objective : The current study investigated the effectiveness of group occupational activity program in increasing visual-perception and motor function of children in Community Children Center. Methods : Five children aged between 6-9 years in a community children center participated in the group occupational activity program. The program was designed to facilitate children's visual-perception and motor function based on play occupations. We examined performances of MVPT-3 and BOT-2 before and after the program. Results : Children who participated in the group program showed significant increases in visual perception and motor function. Conclusion : The study revealed the effectiveness of group occupational activity program in promoting visual perception and motor function of children in a community children center, which suggests the possibility of application of occupational activity toward low-income children in the community.

Various methods have been used on patients with skeletal Class II division 1 malocclusion. The activator, Frankel appliance, headgear, Herbst appliance, and Twin-block appliance are some examples. The ideal treatment effect using these appliances would be to inhibit horizontal and vertical growth of the maxilla while promoting mandibular growth and obtaining optimum dentition. The Teuscher appliance has a simultaneous combined headgear effect with maxillary growth inhibition and an activator effect with mandibular growth promotion. The purpose of this study was to examine how well these effects were clinically obtained and the results are as follows. 1. The forward growth of the maxilla was effectively inhibited. 2. The downward-forward growth of the maxillary dentoalveolar complex was inhibited. 3. Growth promotion of the mandible was not observed. 4. The overjet, overbite, molar key were effectively improved. 5. The protruded upper lip and facial profile were unproved.

Seedling emergence and .stand establishment in dry-seeded rice is unstable at present due to deep seeding, low temperature at seeding time, excessive drought or raining etc. This experiment was conducted to elucidate the effect of gibberellic acid(GA$_3$) on the seedling emergence and growth in dry-seeded rice. GA$_3$, IBA and Metalaxyl were treated by seed-soaking or-spray. Hwaseongbyeo, a japonica rice, was used. The seed-soaking treatment with GA$_3$ significantly increased the seedling emergence and plant height as compared with untreated seed. However, no difference was observed in IBA and Metalaxyl treatment. The optimum concentration of GA$_3$ to promote the seedling emergence and growth in dry-seeded rice was about 100ppm for seed-soaking and about 200ppm for seed-spray treatment. The seed-spray treatment of GA$_3$ with 200ppm promoted earlier and faster seedling emergence and elongated seedling height as compared with untreated seed.

Germinating ability of green seed in maturing period was investigated to develop the technics on generation shortening. Rapeseed did not germinate until 40 days after flowering (=DAF) in green seed and 50 DAF in dried seed. Effective germination to be utilized for generation shortening came on 55 DAF for dried seed by heating and on 75 DAF for green seed. The periodic time of seed dormancy in maturing period had two cycles and rest period was considered that it was different according to the ecological types of early, middle and late maturity.

낙농자조금사업의 궁극적인 목표는 우유는 완전식품으로 국민건강, 유아건강, 노후건강을 위해서 꼭 필요한 음식이라는 인식을 많은 국민들에게 심어주는 계기가 되었다. 낙농자조금사업 원년에 가시적인 효과를 거둔 것에 만족하지 말고 앞으로 더 많은 자조금이 모금되고 이를 이용한 우유의 소비촉진 홍보가 더 많이 전개될 것을 바라는 바이다.

(1) 무기유황의 총요구량이 메치오닌에 의하여 충족될 수 있는지는 불확실하나 무기유형은 닭이 이용할 수 있다. 만약에 무기유황이 메치오닌에 의하여 충족된다면 이는 비효과적이며 실제적으로 비경제적이라 하겠다. (2) 무기유황은 성장촉진효과 이외에 환우상태를 더욱 개선할 수 있으며 부로일러종계에서 문제되는 각약 방지에 효과적이다. (3) 무기유황은 옥수수 대두박위주사료에 첨가함으로써 함유황아미노산의 많은 량을 대체할 수 있다.
