When a satellite separates from the launch vehicle, an initial high angular rate or a tip-off rate is generated. B-dot logic is generally used for controlling the initial tip-off rate. However, it has the disadvantage of taking a relatively long time to control the initial tip-off rate. To solve this problem, this paper suggests a new detumbling control method to be able to adapt to micro/nanosatellite with the pitch bias momentum system. Proposed detumbling method was able to control the angular rate within 20 minutes which is significantly reduced compared to conventional methods. Since the previous wheel start-up method cannot be used if the detumbling controller proposed by this paper is used, a method is also proposed for bringing up the momentum wheel speed to nominal rpm while maintaining stability in this paper. The performance of the method is compared and verified through simulation. The overall result shows much faster control time compared to the conventional methods, and achievement of the nominal wheel speed and 3-axes stabilization while maintaining stability.

It is very difficult to solve mathematically the optimal control problem for non - linear mobile robots to move to target points with minimum energy related to velocity, acceleration and angular velocity in minimum time. This paper proposes a method to obtain optimal control gains with which mobile robots move with minimum energy related to velocity, acceleration and angular velocity in minimum time using genetic algorithms. Mobile robots are non - linear systems so that their optimal control gains depend on initial positions. Hence initial positions are divided into some partition points and optimal control gains are obtained at each partition point with genetical algorithms. These optimal control gains are used to train neural networks that generate proper control gains at arbitrary initial position. Finally computer simulation studies have been conducted to verify the effectiveness of the method proposed in this paper.
S-STEP is a small SAR satellite mission that monitors time-limited emergency targets and military anomalies in areas of interest, achieving the average revisit in less than 30 minutes by deploying a constellation of 32 satellites in low orbit at an altitude of 510 km. The mission operation mode of S-STEP is divided into normal mode, observation mode, communication mode, and orbit maintenance mode. Further,, the attitude control mode is subdivides into initial detumbling, sun pointing, target pointing, ground station pointing, and thrust direction maintenance. Based on the preliminary mission operational scenario and the satellite's characteristics, this study analyzed the attitude control performance during initial detumbling and observation modes. It verifies that each mode's attitude control accuracy requirements within the time allotted by the scenario of the S-STEP achieved.

In this paper, we propose a path generation and tracking algorithm of an unmanned air vehicle in a two-dimensional plane given the initial and final points. The path generation algorithm using the Dubins curve proposed in this work has the advantage that it can be applied in real time to an unmanned air vehicle. The path tracking algorithm is an algorithm similar to the line-of-sight induction algorithm. In order to efficiently control the direction angle, a gain related to the look ahead distance concept is introduced. Most of UAVs have the limited maximum curvature due to the structural constraints. A numerical simulation is conducted to follow the path generated by the sliding mode controller considering the angular velocity limit. The path generation and tracking performance is verified by comparing the suggested controller with conventional control techniques.

This paper deals with a systematic approach to neural network controller design for static VAR compensator (SVC) using a learning algorithm of error back propagation that accepts error and change of error as inputs, the momentum learning technique is used for reduction of learning time, to improve system stability. A SVC, one of the Flexible AC Transmission System(FACTS), constructed by a fixed capacitor(FC) and a thyristor controlled reactor(TCR), is designed and implemented to improve the damping of a synchronous generator, as well as controlling the system voltage.TO verify the robustness of the proposed method, we considered the dynamic response of generator rotor angle deviation, angular velocity deviation and generator terminal voltage by applying a power fluctuation and rotor angle fluctuation in initial point when heavy load and normal load. Thus, we prove the usefulness of proposed method to improve the stability of single machine-infinite bus with SVC system.

This paper addresses a newly proposed start-up method of the HAUSAT-2 momentum wheel. The HAUSAT-2 is a 25kg class nanosatellite which is stabilized to earth pointing by 3-axis active control method. A momentum wheel performs two functions. It provides a pitch-axis momentum bias while measuring satellite pitch and roll attitude. Pitch control is accomplished in the conventional way by driving a momentum wheel in response to pitch attitude errors. Precession control and nutation damping are provided by driving the pitch axis magnetic torquer. A momentum wheel is nominally spinning at a particular rate and changes speed. This simulation study investigates the feasibility and performance of a proposed strategy for starting-up the wheel. A proposed strategy to start-up the wheel shows that a pitch momentum wheel can be successfully started-up to its nominal speed from rest and be stabilized to nadir pointing.

This paper resents a control approach for designing a fuzzy-PI controller for a synchronous generator excitation and SVC system A combination of thyristor-controlled reactors and fixed capacitors (TCR-FC) type SVC is recognized as having the must fiexible control and high speed response, which has been widely utilized in power systems, is considered and designed to improve the response of a synchronous generator, as well as controlling the system voltage A Fuzzy-PI controller for SVC system was proposed in this paper. The PI gain parameters of the proposed Fuzzy-PI controller which is a special type of PI ones are self-tuned by fuzzy inference technique. It is natural that the fuzzy inference technique should be barred on humans intuitions and empirical knowledge. Nonetheless, the conventional ones were not so. Therefore, In this paper, the fuzzy inference technique of PI gains using MMGM(Min Max Gravity Method) which is very similar to humans inference procedures, was presented and allied to the SVC system. The system dynamic responses are examined after applying all small disturbance condition.

Caravans are easily affected by external physical factors and often cause dangerous situations for passengers. Therefore, in order to secure the stability of the passenger, there is a need to develop a sway reduction device capable of preventing the sway phenomenon in advance. This paper aims to minimize the hitch angle between the tow vehicle and the caravan. Specifically, the initial instability of the caravan is detected through an IMU sensor mounted on each of the tow vehicle and the caravan, and a control value is calculated to reduce errors from the Hitch angle and Hitch yaw rate using a PID controller. Different braking torques are generated, distributed, and controlled on the left and right brakes of the caravan according to the calculated control value. It could be verified through the driving experiment that the hitch angle was decreased compared to the case where the performance of the sway reduction device was not controlled, and the transverse stability improvement rate was improved by 94.49% compared to before control.
