In this study, constant head water permeability test was adopted to evaluate self-healing performance of mortars containing inorganic healing materials which consist of blast furnace slag, sodium sulfate and anhydrite. Clinker powder and sand replaced for a part of cement and fine aggregates. On constant head water permeability test for self-healing mortars, unit water flow rate of mortar specimens were measured according to crack width and healing period. As a result of evaluating the healing performance of self-healing mortar, it was confirmed that with the initial crack width of 0.3mm, the healing rate at healing period of 28 days increased by more than 30%p compared to plain mortar, greatly improving the healing performance. Furthermore, the coefficient(α) which was estimated from the relationship between crack width and unit water flow rate was used for calculating equivalent crack width. By analyzing the correlation of healing rate and equivalent crack width, the time and initial crack width attaining healing target crack width were predicted.

In this study, a piezoelectric smart sensor that can be embedded inside of concrete structures is developed to investigate the early stage of concrete curing. A waterproof coating is used to protect the piezoelectric sensor from moistures of concrete mixture. Also, a mortar case is utilized to encapsulate the sensor to protect it from impact loads. To estimate the strength of concrete, a self-sense guided-wave actuated sensing technique is applied. In the guided wave, its velocity is varied according to the mechanical properties of concrete such as modulus of elasticity. Because modulus of elasticity directly affects the strength of concrete, the guidedwave's velocity also affects the concrete strength development. To verify the feasibility of using the proposed approach, the smart sensor was embedded into a 100MPa concrete cylinder and the self-sense guided wave is continuously measured throughout the curing process. The measurements showed that the propagation time (TOF) of the measured guided waves gradually decreased as the curing age increased. Especially, at the early age of the curing process, the variation of the TOF was very significant. Furthermore, the results showed that there is a linear relationship between the TOF of the self-sense guided waves and the strength of concrete existed. It is safe to conclude that the proposed approach can be used very effectively in monitoring of the strength development of high strength concrete structures.
Meniscus, adsorbed layer thickness, capillary pressure and disjoining pressure was deduced in extended meniscus region in cement paste pore by hydrostatic equilibrium. From the results, the relationship between pore size and adsorbed layer thickness could be derived and adsorbed layer thickness represents $0.299{\sim}2.700nm$ according to pore size $1nm{\sim}1{\mu}m$. Especially, disjoining pressure rapidly Increased in less than 10 nm pore size according to adsorbed layer thickness. Therefore, it is interpreted that autogenous shrinkage of cement paste is highly increases in formation of less than 10 nm pore size. Predictions of autogenous shrinkage in cement paste considering driving force for autogenous shrinkage with capillary pressure and disjoining pressure was low in comparison with experiment values between $1{\sim}4$ days and high in later period. These tendency could be thought that pore damage by mercury injection in early age makes shrinkage driving force underestimate and assumption for unsaturated independent pore makes overestimate. These interactions might be needed corrections considering on hydration or pore replacement model.

This paper studies the early-aged chloride binding capacity of various blended concretes including OPC(ordinary Portland cement), PFA(pulversied fly ash), GGBFS(ground granulated blast furnace slag) and SF(silica fume) cement paste. Cement pastes with 0.4 of a free water/binder ratio were cast with chloride admixed in mixing water, which ranged from 0.1 to 3.0% by weight of cement and different replacement ratios for the PFA, GGBFS and SF were used. The content of chloride in each paste was measured using water extraction method after 7 days curing. It was found that the chloride binding capacity strongly depends on binder type, replacement ratio and total chloride content. An increase in total chloride results in a decrease in the chloride binding, because of the restriction of the binding capacity of cement matrix. For the pastes containing maximum level of PFA(30%) and GGBFS(60%) replacement in this study, the chloride binding capacity was lower than those of OPC paste, and an increase in SF resulted in decreased chloride binding, which are ascribed to a latent hydration of pozzolanic materials and a fall in the pH of the pore solution, respectively. The chloride binding capacity at 7 days shows that the order of the resistance to chloride-induced corrosion is 30%PFA > 10%SF > 60%GGBFS > OPC, when chlorides are internally intruded in concrete. In addition, it is found that the binding behaviour of all binders are well described by both the Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms.

Blast furnance slag cement is a cement manufactured with using industrial by-product and it can reduce $CO_2$ by replacing cement when same uit volume concrete is produced. But Blast furnance slag has a short point that early strength of concrete is not good in winter season and it can be used. So, in this study, as long as replacement ratio of Blast furnance slag to original portland cement is under 30%, developed cement, ecoment, improve early strength of concrete and it applied to constructoin site. As a result, it improves 37% in terms of 1-day strength, it reduces 6.7% in terms of $CO_2$ emission when $1m^3$ concrete was produced. The importance and applicability of study wll be expected to increase cosidering global effort and green growth-strategy in country for reducing greenhouse gases.

This study, having combined and displaced fly ash known as admixture material that delays hydration reaction with coarse particle cement("CC" hereinafter) collected in particle classification method during ordinary portland cement("OPC" hereinafter), reviewed the hydration heat characteristics affecting the concrete. To reduce hydration heat, the study plain-mixed which used 100% OPC for WB 50% level 1, displaced CC at level 3 of 25%, 50% and 75% for OPC, and by displacing FA with admixture material at level 5 of 0%, 10%, 20%, 30% and 40%, experimented totally 16 batches. As a result of experiment, in the case of flow, the more CC displacement rate increased, the more it tended to decrease, and the more FA displacement rate increased, the more it decreased. As for simple adiabatic temperature rise by the CC and FA displacement rates, it decreased as displacement rate increased, and particularly in the case of FA40, temperature rise amount, $5.8{\sim}7.4^{\circ}C$, was very low. Compressive strength decreased in proportion to displacement rate, however strength reduction increment was shown to decrease with age progress.

Cracking due to material behavior like drying shrinkage easily occurs since tensile strength in concrete is very low at initial curing stage. In this paper, workability such as air content and slump was evaluated on CFC(Cellulose Fiber Concrete) with 0.0 ~ 2.0% of fiber addition, and the tests for tensile/compressive strength were performed. With increasing addition ratio of fiber, air content and slump kept similar level to 1.0kg/㎥ of addition ratio, and this trend was effective to 2 hours after mixing. Strength was enhanced with increasing addition ratio, which showed 7.0 ~ 9.0% for compressive strength and 7.0 ~ 22.0% for tensile strength, respectively. The tensile strength increased relatively more, which show the addition of cellulose fiber was very effective to crack resistance. The workability in CFC can be guaranteed for 2 hours in the following conditions like 2 minutes of mixing period and 1.0kg/㎥ of addition ratio of fiber.

The heat of hydration for early aged mass concrete induces high temperature with the hydration. Control of the temperature difference across a section is an effective strategy to minimize the hydration heat induced cracks for the structures where internal restraint is dominant. The current prevention methods for hydration cracking show some limitations for the control of thermal gradients, and these limitations could make micro and macro cracks in surface and core of concrete. Especially cooling methods can decrease the increasing hydration temperature, but it can not prevent the problem while decreasing temperature. Consequently heating pipes are added simultaneously with the cooling pipes in order to control the temperature gradients between core and surface of the concrete, followed by the finite element analysis (FEA). Based on the FEA, the proposed method using cooling pipe and heating pipes together has been found to be an effective alternative in thermal gradient control, in terms of controlling temperature induced cracks significantly.
In this study, physical properties of cement blended with Finex-slag powder(OPC-FS) were investigated by the measurement of flowability, compressive strength, hydration heat, and $Ca(OH)_2$ content. In addition, those properties of the cement blended with blast furnace slag(OPC-BFS) were also measured for comparison. It was found that OPC-FS and OPC-BFS showed similar trend in the rheological properties. In the blended cement pastes with the $4,000\;cm^2/g$ Blaine value the flowability of OPCFS was better than that of OPC-BFS. The initial 3 day mortar compressive strength and the hydration heat of paste of OPC-FS was a bit higher, compared with OPC-BFS. Accordingly $Ca(OH)_2$ produced in the cement hydration was decreased very rapidly.

The time-dependent temperature distribution across the section in bridges is determined on the basis of the three-dimensional finite element analyses and numerical time integration in this study. The material properties which change with time and thermal stress of concrete are taken into account to effectively trace the early-age structural responses. Since the temperature distribution is nonlinear and depends upon many material constants such as the thermal conductivity, specific heat, hydration heat of concrete, heat transfer coefficients and solar radiation, three representative influencing factors of the construction season, wind velocity and bridge pavement are considered at the parametric studies. The validity of the introduced numerical model is established by comparing the analytical predictions with results from previous analytical studies. On the basis of parametric studies for four different bridge sections, it is found that the creep deformation in concrete bridges must be considered to reach more reasonable design results and the temperature distribution proposed in the Korean bridge design specification need to be improved.
