The shrinkage distribution of a dental composite (Clearfil AP-X, Kuraray, Japan) used for dental restoration was observed using a digital image correlation method. In order to analyze the shrinkage distribution formed during and after light irradiation, digital images were taken with different photographing conditions for each period. Optimal photographing conditions during LED irradiation were obtained through a preliminary experiment in which the exposure time was applied from 0.15 ms to 0.55 ms in 0.05 ms intervals. The DIC analysis results showed that the strain was non-uniform. For the initial 20 s of light irradiation the composite resin shrank to the level of 50~60% of the final curing shrinkage. Such large shrinkage amount of the composite resin lump affected the tensile stress concentration near the adhesive region between the composite resin and the substrate.

Plowable fill is generally a mixture of sand, fly ash, a small amount of cement and water. Sand is the major component of most flowable fill mixes. Marine dredged soil was adopted for flowable fill instead of fly ash. Natural sea sand and in-situ soil were used for comparison. The flow behavior, hardening characteristics, and ultimate strength behavior of flowable fill were investigated. The unconfined compression test necessary to sustain walkability as the fresh flowble fill hardens was determined and the strength at 3-days appeared to correlate well with the water-to-cement ratio. The strength parameters, like cohesion and internal friction angle, was determined along the curing time. The creep test for settlement potential was conducted. Also, potable falling weight deflectometer(PFWD) test has been carried out for elastic modulus of each controlled low strength materials(CLSM). The data presented show that marine dredged soil and in-situ soil can be successfully used in CLSM.
Acrylic pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) tapes were used for the automotive, the electrical and the electronic industries and the display module junction. In this study, the manufacture of high-strength structural tape used 2-ethylhexyl acrylate (2-EHA) and acrylic acid (AAC), and UV irradiation for photo-polymerization, and the semi-structural properties of acrylic PSA tape with the AAC content and inorganic filler $SiO_2$ content were investigated. The initial adhesion strength was lowered by the rigidity of molecule chains due to the use of AAC, and the adhesion strength increased with increasing wetting time. The wetability, contact angle, and SEM images of PSA tapes with various contents of AAC were determined. Without filler, the peel strength and dynamic shear strength of PSA tape showed inverse correlation but the peel strength and dynamic shear strength increased with increasing filler content. From these correlations the PSA tapes could be optimized for the applications requiring high performance.
The high precision analysis by the p-version of the finite element method are fairly well established as highly efficient method for linear elastic problems, especially in the presence of stress singularity. It has been noted that the merits of the p-version are accuracy, modeling simplicity, robustness, and savings in user's and CPU time. However, little has been done to exploit their benefits in elasto-plastic analysis. In this paper, the p-version finite element model is proposed for the materially nonlinear analysis that is based on the incremental theory of plasticity using the constitutive equation for work-hardening materials, and the associated flow rule. To obtain the solution of nonlinear equation, the Newton-Raphson method and initial stiffness method, etc are used. Several numerical examples are tested with the help of the square plates with cutout, the thick-walled cylinder under internal pressure, and the circular plate with uniformly distributed load. Those results are compared with the theoretical solutions and the numerical solutions of ADINA
This paper presents a series of tests to produce the h~gh quality concrete to be filled Inside the
steel tube columns. Thls concrete filled steel tube system requires not only the high strength,
but a150 the flowable concrete. Laboratory test has been performed to clarlfy the material
characteristics and to produce the optlmal mix design proportion. Full scale site mock up test
has been then carried out to slnlulate the actual construct~on conditions including the product~on
of concrete at the rermcon batch plant, transportation to the construction site, proper workabil~
ty and man power required , 4ddit1onal mock up test has finally been performec to irivesti
gate any unfavorable construction s~tuatioils since the actual concrete placement has been sched
uled in cold weather period, so that the high quality concrete construction is convinced to be
successfully carried out.

This paper aims to calculate age coefficient of ultrasonic pulse velocity by non-destructive test. When concrete compressive strength is measured by non-destructive test, rebound test hammer method is applied to estimate age coefficient depending on the course of time after concrete casting, but ultrasonic pulse velocity method is not applied in the process. Although it is necessary to consider age coefficient with change of ultrasonic pulse velocity of concrete depending on aging, there have been little attempts to apply that method. The experiments were conducted to calculate aging effects which will be applied to establish the formula of measuring concrete strength. As a result of experiments, it was found that ultrasonic pulse velocity showed radical changes depending on concrete hardening in comparison with initial standard values. So, it was concluded that age coefficient must be applied to calculate strength. In conclusion, age coefficient of ultrasonic pulse velocity of concrete was suggested on the basis of experimental results.

It is well known that numerous factors influence the light output of curing units, but many dentists are un aware that the output of their curing lights are inadequate. This study was conducted to evaluate the light in tensity of visible-light curing units in some private dental clinics and hospital dental clinics. In order to determine the maximum light intensity of the curing units, lamps, filters and fiber optic bundles, they were replaced with new ones and light intensity was remeasured. Light intensity was measured by employing a digital radiometer (EFOS model #8000, USA). Light intensity ranged in $29\sim866mW/cm^2$ (below $150mW/cm^2$ ; 17.8%, $150\sim300mW/cm^2$ : 46.6%, above $300mW/cm^2$ ; 35.6%). The replacement of the components increased the light intensity, with maximum increases of 94.8% for lamps, 82.3% for filters, 200.8% for fiber optics and 361.5% for all three parts. According to the manufacturer of radiometer, curing light is considered as unsuitable for use with a reading of above $300mW/cm^2$ by the radiometer. Applying these criteria to the present study, 64.4% of the curing units required repair or replacement. The results of this study indicated that the light intensities of the curing units used in dental practice were lower than optimum level.

Auxiliary support systems such as the reinforced protective umbrella method have been applied before tunnel excavation to increase ground stiffness and to prevent the large deformation. However, determination procedure of geotechnical parameters along the construction sequence contains various errors. This study suggests a method to characterize the time-dependent behavior of pre-reinforced zones around the tunnel using elastic waves. Experimental results show that shear strength as well as elastic wave velocities increase with the curing time. Shear strength and strength parameters can be uniquely correlated to elastic wave velocities. Obtained results from the laboratory tests are applied to numerical simulation of tunnel considering its construction sequences. Based on numerical analysis, initial installation part of pre-reinforcement and portal of tunnel are critical for tunnel stability. Result of the time-dependent condition is similar to the results of for $1{\sim}2$ days of the constant time conditions. Finally, suggested simple analysis method combining experimental and numerical procedure which considering time-dependent behavior of pre-reinforced zone on tunnel would provide reliable and reasonable design and analysis for tunnel.
The purpose of this study was to compare mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA; Dentsply, Tulsa Dental, Tulsa, OK, USA), which is widely used as root-end filling material, with DiaRoot BioAggregate (DB; Innovative BioCaramix Inc, Vancouver, BC, Canada), newly developed product, by using MG63 osteoblast-like cells. MTA, DB, and Intermediate Restorative Material (IRM; Dentsply Caulk, Milford, DE, USA) were used for root-end filling material while tissue culture plastic was used for control group. Each material was mixed and, the mixtures were left to set for 24 hours. MG63 cells were seeded to each group and then they were cultured for attachment for 4 hours. Following the attachment of cells to the root-end filling material, early cellular response was observed. After another 12 hours'culture, the level of attachment between cells and material was observed and in order to identify the effect of each material to bone formation, transforming growth factor beta1 ($TGF{\beta}1$) and osteocalin (OC) were estimated by using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), and the amount of alkaline phosphatase (ALP) was also measured. The data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA. As a result, only at OC and the number of cells which were attached to materials, there was no statistical difference between MTA and DB. At other items, there was statistically significant difference in all groups. Although DB has not shown exactly the same cellular response like that of MTA, the number of attached cells shows that biocompatibility of the material and OC indicates bone formation rate. Therefore, if DB is used for root end filling material, it is expected to lead to similar results to MTA.

In summer and winter, the difference between the temperature during the day and that during the night is high, which leads to various problems during concrete placement, such as cracks and defects in the concrete as well as low durability and strength. Although nuclear power plant concrete is widely used for placement in all seasons, particular attention must be paid to its quality during the summer. Therefore, we evaluated the effects of a cooling method for mixing water, which is a commonly used hot weather precooling method, and the use of a retarder, on the characteristics of Nuclear Power Plant concrete. In the cooling method for mixing water, cold water at 5 was used, with 50% of the water content consisting of ice flakes. The effects of using a retarder were evaluated by reviewing the characteristics of the cement at the unset stage and after hardening. To evaluate the characteristics of the unset cement, we measured the slump, air volumes, setting times, and pressure strengths after hardening. Furthermore, we measured the heat of hydration at different temperatures; the loss of heat was minimized using insulation. Both the slump time and the complete ageing time of the air volume were found to be 120 min at $20^{\circ}C$ and 40 min at $40^{\circ}C$. In the case when the cooling method for mixing water was used and in the case when a retarder was used, the initial and final sets by penetration resistance were delayed, and the delay decreased with increasing air temperature. For the heat of hydration, the cooling method for mixing water not only lowered the maximum temperature but also delayed its attainment. However, the use of a retarder had no effect on the maximum temperature. Moreover, in the early ages (e.g., 3 and 7 days), the pressure strength of the concrete was lower than that of plain cement. However, the strength of 28-day concrete met the standard construction specifications.
