  • The medical bed developed in this study consists of N keys and each is driven vertically by an actuator. Since M sensors are mounted on each keyboard to measure body pressure, the resolution of the body pressure map is determined by the MN. A sensor controller is mounted on each keyboard, and the body pressure values measured from M sensors are transmitted to the main controller through a serial communication network such as CAN (Car Area Network). Each keyboard is equipped with a servo driver that drives a motor, and it is connected to the main controller via CAN to control the height of the keyboard according to the displacement value indicated by the main controller. In addition, the maximum body pressure value and body pressure ratio applied to each part of the keyboard are calculated and used as the basic data for controlling bed comfort by artificial intelligence. As a result, the proposed system can be a foundation that can be used for the control of body comfort and pressure sore prevention by artificial intelligence to be developed in the future.

  • In this paper, the remote care of medical beds with multiple body pressure sensors is described. Falling is one of the factors that seriously threaten the safety of patients and harm their health. In this study, a new bed was developed to overcome this. The bed system consists of a keyboard that can operate, a keyboard controller that manages the movement of the keyboard, a sensor that measures body pressure, a sensor controller that transmits and receives sensor values, a main controller that checks it and operates automatically or manually according to the algorithm, and a server that oversees all these information. The bed system checks the patient's location through a sensor and wirelessly alerts the server through the main controller when the patient determines that there is a risk of falling, so that the nurse or nurse can recognize the patient's dangerous condition. The server may receive state data transmitted from the wired/wireless terminal to monitor whether the bed system is operating normally. The controller of the keyboard operates a keyboard-type mechanism and automatically controls the prevention of bedsores connected by body pressure sensors to physically separate the area to which the patient's pressure is applied to prevent bedsores. The main controller checks the presence of the patient's bed and transmits it to the server. In conclusion, the proposed system can smart monitor the user's state and perform remote care.

  • In this paper, a study is described on finding a relationship between discomfort and body pressure distribution. In the first step, experiments were conducted to find correlation between pressure distribution and discomfort. The experiments of 12 people on 9 seats were performed. In the second step, parameters and correlation coefficients were determined between the measured body pressure distribution and median values of the subjective evaluations of 12 subjects using psychophysical power law.

  • A finite element simulation model was developed for the performance optimization of a closed type air-cell mattress used for the ulcer prevention. An H-model with material properties of human flesh and kinematic joints were used for the calculation of the body contact pressure. The material property of rubber air-cell was evaluated by tensile test of standard specimen. We evaluated the body contact pressure distribution after laying human model on the inflated air-cell mattress. It was found that the body contact pressure was dependent on cell height. but hardly affected by the thickness of the rubber in a cell.

  • This study investigates the plastic suspension assembly which is installed on inside of vehicle seat and support passenger's back to supply the comfortable ride performance. It aims to develop the structural design in order to support driver's back uniformly and assemble seat back frame with plastic suspension effectively. The part of suspension is designed by considering the body pressure distribution of driver and it has the same size as the practical model on simulation analysis. It is confirmed that the analysis result of plastic suspension approaches the practical measured values and the better body pressure distribution can be obtained as compared with the existing wire type.

  • Pressure sores are an unresolved human challenge. In this study, a keyboard-type medical bed was developed and a body pressure sensor was installed to provide a method to control the keyboard so that the pressure sores do not reach the critical pressure. For this, a keyboard-type mattress using a 4bar link is developed, and a method of controlling the height adjustment of the keyboard within the critical pressure through a body pressure sensor is used. There is a feeling of discomfort in the body when the keyboard is raised and lowered from pressure sores, which is an important factor: pressure x time, and only time control is performed, but if the proposed method is used, pressure is controlled within the critical pressure, thereby preventing bedsores in a comfortable state. The effectiveness and validity of the developed medical bed system were verified through theories and experiments.

  • In this study, the controller structure and control algorithm of medical robot bed developed for pressure ulcer prevention and healing are described. The existing pressure ulcer prevention mattress is operated manually and the remaining maximum body pressure exceeds the pressure of ulcer generation, so there is always room for pressure ulcers. However, the system developed in this study does not generate the pressure ulcers because the body pressure drops to zero when the keyboard of the bed descends using the active electric driving keyboard. In addition, even if the bed is raised and the pressure above the critical body ulcer pressure is abnormal, the device and the control algorithm are designed so that the lasting time is within the pressure ulcer generation critical time and the pressure ulcer itself is not generated. The bed key board motor is a motor designed with the BLDC servos suitable for medical use and these can communicate each other easily through CAN(Car Area Network). The system is new medical robot bed that is effective in preventing pressure ulcers and will be distributed to many patients suffering from pressure ulcers.
