  • This paper examines the composition and the content of media art which is an art education subject in a national curriculum of Australia; and discusses implications for Korean education curriculums. Media covered by Media Art subject in Australia are the multi types of general media including TV, movie, video, newspaper, radio, video game, the internet, and mobile media; and their contents. The purpose of ACARA's media art education curriculum is to improve creative use, knowledge, understanding, and technology of communication techniques for multiple purposes and the audiences. Through the Media Art subject, both the students and the community are able to participate in the actual communications with the rich culture surrounding them and to develop the knowledge and understanding of the 5 core concepts of language, technology, system, audience and re-creation while testing the culture. The implication of this study is as the following. ACARA's media art education curriculum has been developed as an independent educational program and has a special significance within Australian education curriculums. Although ACARA's media art education curriculum is formed as an independent subject, it is suggested within the curriculum to instruct in close connection with other subjects upon execution. Its organization and elaborateness in curriculum composition are very effective in terms of the teacher's teaching-learning design and as well as the evaluation. This seems to show a good model of leading media literacy curriculum. ACARA's media art education curriculum can be a great reference in introducing media literacy to Korean national education curriculums.

  • A joke (才談, 재담) is "the most interesting and witty language unit" in our speech. However, the search of a joke is still starting. Although joke are related to the witty and interesting talks, stories, songs and plays, the actual object of a joke is only the witty and interesting talk. A joke is witty talk that is interesting or laughter-inducing. Many Jokes can be found in the traditional Korean funny performing arts (演戱, 연희). This is because these art forms are performed in open yards, which necessitated amusing the audience, amusement, in its turn, required jokes. Jokes in the traditional funny performing arts can generally be classified as follows: 1) Jokes related to a situation: These include right words at a given situation, exaggerating words, diminishing words, deviancy words, and cause-effect words. 2) Jokes related to discourse: These include enumerating words, amplificatory words, contrasting words, fluently lying words, undeniable words, purposely unknowing words, and deliberately incorrect words. 3) Jokes related to vocabulary: These include synonym, similar words, changed word-ordering words, and incorrect words. 4) Jokes related to pronunciation: These include homonyms, and anti-homonyms. Although there may be other jokes, those presented above are typical ones. A joke is "the result that human being can achieve when he/she has overcome natural and social difficulties and is left with only a free and creative spirit." Jokes are necessary in all ages and everywhere. Today, more varied and high-level jokes can be created by developing the diversity of jokes in traditional funny performing arts. Also, I expect new sorts of jokes, because a joke always demands a creative spirit.

  • Today, in the case of literary works such as modern poetry, novels, 'literature production : literature acceptance' are relatively simple as 'writing : reading'. However, in classical literature, there are ways of 'singing, chanting, narrating, performing, public reading, writing : listening, reading.' Modern literary works such as poetry and novels are sole arts made up only of literature, but classical literature have many complex arts accompanied by music, theater, etc. In order to understand the way classical literature, it is necessary to consider music, theater, etc. also. There are a number of subjects to research today in relation to the accepting method of classical literature. There are such things at Hyang-ga (향가), Goryeo Sog-yo (고려속요), Sijo (시조) and Gasa (가사) in of classical poetry. There is a public reading in classical novels. There is securing video materialㄴ for narrators in oral literature. And there are Si-chang (시창. 詩唱) and aloud reading in chinese proses. 'Listening literature', such as the oral literature needs to have the A. Lord's 'formular theory' - 'formular' (general words), 'themes' (general subject), and 'improvisation.' It is the opposite of contemporary poetry and novels that value ' special words', 'special contents', and 'original text.' Classical literature with a great deal of 'listening literature' besides ' reading literature' needs to have this 'formular theory' too basically. In the case of 'excessive pornographic' oriented events in Goryeo Gayo (고려가요) and Pansori (판소리), a vision is required to set up a space for the realization of literature. The haman basic elements like a man and woman's body subject can be evoked as a literature means at open place for anonymous people. Unlike modern poetry and novels, which are 'reading literature', and contain only literature, classical literature have 'listening literature' besides 'reading literature', and have complex arts - classical poetry (literature and music), and oral literature (literature, music, theater etc.) These aspects are available to research modern mass media literature, which are all 'listening literature,' and all complex arts - pop songs (literature and music), movies (literature, drama, image, music etc.) and TV dramas (literature, drama, image, music etc.). Thus, a proper understanding and consideration of the accepting method is very important in understanding, researching and educating classical literature.

  • In this thesis, we investigate the animation (2001) based on the three phases of the lyrical expression derived from Ye Weiqu's Mono no aware Aesthetic-a Japanese classical aesthetics' perspective, on the aspects of the perceptions of human, world, and nature. By analyzing each component of three phases of Mono no aware Aesthetic, the thesis illustrated that how (2001) utilized and expressed Japanese classical aesthetic and how Japanese classical aesthetics were widely utilized into modern Japanese animations. Moreover, the thesis also stated that Mono no aware Aesthetic has become a creative element in order to answer a development direction with future Japanese animations. Through integrating Japanese unique classical aesthetics into the animation elements, Satoshi Kon, the director of the animation, well carried and expressed the cultural content of Japanese nation, thus promoting a deep understanding of characteristics for Japanese animation which have a wide appeal. In his masterpiece -, the characters building, plot describing, theme expressing, cultural meaning could be analyzed respectively by means of Ye Weiqu's 3 phases of Mono no aware aesthetic, reflecting how inherited the legacy of Japanese classical aesthetics. Furthermore, based on the analysis method, the animation contributed tremendously to Japanese classical aesthetics and Mono no aware aesthetics. Tradition for classical aesthetics could play a role as a creative tool for contemporary and future animation.
