Objectives: The purpose of this study was to identify the individual and regional risk factors on depression using community-based data in Jeollabuk-do. Methods: This cross-sectional study obtained data from the Community Health Survey 2018 in Jeollabuk-do. The dependent variable was depression measured by Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9). The prevalence of depression was defined if total score of PHQ-9 was 10 or higher. A multilevel analysis was conducted to consider individual and regional level independent variables that could be risk factors for depression. Results: In the individual level, female gender and smokers had significantly higher odds ratios (ORs) for depression of 1.58 and 1.72, respectively. Subjects with economic activity, higher income and higher education had significantly lower ORs of 0.53, 0.41 and 0.66. In the regional level, higher greening rates and lower levels of PM2.5 had statistically lower ORs at the significance level of 10%. Conclusion: By conducting this study, risk factors associated with depression were identified in individual- and regional-level. This study suggests that health projects are needed to control regional level risk factors including community networks for mental health management in addition to the traditional individual level risk factors.

Objective: In Gunsan, Jeollabuk-do, Korea, we wanted to determine if the sluggish local economy could affect citizens' health behaviors, especially mental health. Methods: We divided Gunsan-si into 5 living areas and conducted Small-Area Estimations and confirmed the modified compound estimation value using the 2013-2017 Community Health Survey data and population data from Gunsan-si. Results: The health behaviors and mental health of the residents of the western living area(Soryong-dong, Misung-dong), which is an industrial hub of Gunsan, had deteriorated or decreased compared to those of other regions. Conclusions: Although there are limitations in analyzing the community health survey data using the small-area estimation method, it could be useful data for evaluating regional gaps and health level.

Objectives: The objective of this study was to identify the effects of area-based health promotion initiatives with community participation and partnerships conducted in Sabong-Myeon, Jinju City for three years. Methods: We used data from the '2008 Sabong-Myeon Health Survey' and the '2011 Health Plus Happiness Plus Community Health Survey'. The study comprised 520 systematically sampled individuals, composed of 300 adults in 2008 and 200 adults in 2011. We compared some health behavior and mental health indicators as well as social capital levels between these two surveys. Results: The prevalences of smoking and walking exercise in 2011 were significantly higher than those in 2008. The prevalences of high risk alcohol consumption in men, stress perception, depressive symptoms experience, and suicide ideation were significantly lower than those in 2008. The proportion of people having a high level of social capital in 2011 was significantly higher than that in 2008, regardless of sex or marital status. However, the difference in the proportion was not statistically significant among people with a high educational background. Conclusions: This study suggested that the 3 years' implementation of area-based health promotion initiatives conducted in Sabong-Myeon might help to improve the mental health and social capital level of this community. The long-term health effects of area-based health promotion initiatives with community participation and partnerships need to be studied further, and lessons from these initiatives can be obtained by adapting proper evaluation methods.

The participants were 168 adults in two community mental health centers and three rehabilitation centers in Jeonbuk. The data were collected by structured questionnaires from April 15 to April 30, 2015 and analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis with the SPSS 19.0 statistical program. The mean score of empowerment for mental illness, recovery and therapeutic relationship were $60.4{\pm}10.85$, $101.8{\pm}20.70$ and $74.5{\pm}14.30$, respectively. There were significantly positive correlations between recovery in empowerment and therapeutic relationship (r=0.33, p<0.001), as well as empowerment and recovery (r=0.51, p<0.001), while there were significantly positive correlations between therapeutic relationship and recovery (r=0.55, p<0.001). Therapeutic relationship had a partial mediated effect between empowerment and recovery, which was found to be significant by the Sobel test (z=3.706, p<0.001). The results of this study can be used as basic data for development of a practical recovery-enhancing program to promote therapeutic relationships and improve empowerment in relation to therapist of the mentally disabled.
