Exploring Professional Development of Science Teachers through the Research Experience for Teachers Program (연구 참여 경험을 통한 과학 교사의 전문성 발달 과정 탐색)

  • This case study focused on three science teachers who participated in the Research Experience for Teachers (RET) program conducted by the Center for Bridging Advanced Science and Education (CBASE). The RET program provides opportunities for participants to experience experimentations in a science laboratory for six months, enabling teachers develop teaching materials based on their experience from the RET program. The purpose of this study was to explore how the teachers had developed their professionalism through participation in the program and which factors promoted the professional development of science teachers. In this research, we defined pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) as the required knowledge for teachers to develop for their professional development. As a result of the RET program, all three participants showed integration of PCK elements: orientation to teaching science, knowledge of science, knowledge of students, knowledge of teaching, and knowledge of sources. The PCK elements which had been developed by the RET program were applied in school context and the teachers' belief became clear and strong. The teachers were able to understand the process of authentic science as they learned it from 'legitimate peripheral participation' in the authentic research context. They also showed dynamic integration between newly established elements of PCK by reflecting on the school context while developing the teaching materials. The professional development of each teacher was different depending on the purpose and PCK, which participants had already possess. This study will provide meaningful implication for the development of professional development program for science teachers based on research experience.

  • 지식재산권은 발명 상표 의장(意匠) 등의 산업재산권과 문학 음악 미술 작품 등에 관한 저작권의 총칭으로 정의할 수 있다. 한마디로, 무형적인 재산권이라고 할 수 있다. 수백 년 전만 하더라도 이러한 무형적인 재산권은 중요하지 않았지만, 과학기술이 발달하게 되면서 지식재산권에 대한 보호의 필요성이 대두되었다. 즉 기술, 문화적인 개발로 많은 이익을 얻을 수 있게 되어 그것을 보호할 수 있도록 지식재산권이란 것을 규정하게 된 것이다. 그렇다면 과연 지식재산권이 왜 중요한지 그 의의와 중요성에 대해 알아보도록 하자.

A Study on the Level of Mother's Parenting Stress (걸음마기 자녀를 둔 어머니의 양육지식과 양육행동, 양육스트레스 간의 관계 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the level of mothers' parenting stress according to the knowledge and behaviors that mothers have on infant development. The subjects of this study are 145 mothers whose infants range in age from 18 to 36 months. The instruments used are: 1) Knowledge of Child Development Inventory (KCDI) (Larsen & Juhasz, 1986), 2) Q-sort modified by Ahn (2001), 3) Parenting Stress Scale (PSS) (Kim & Kang, 1997), and a demographic questionnaire. The data analyses used SPSS 12.0 which employs basic statistics, a reliability test, ANOVA and Pearson's correlation. The results of this study indicate a correlation (r= -.20*) between behaviors of child-rearing and parenting stress of mothers. Specifically, mothers behaviors of child-rearing related to cognition development could predict parenting stress.

Exploring Progression Levels for Science Metamodeling Knowledge of the Science Gifted (과학영재 학생들의 과학 메타모델링 지식 발달 단계 탐구)

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the progression levels of science metamodeling knowledge through using questionnaires for 97 students of the gifted in G science academy. As a result of the Rasch model analysis, it was confirmed that the progression levels of the scientific metamodeling knowledge is suitable for the person reliability of 0.71 and the item reliability of 0.96. The progression levels of students' science metamodeling knowledge were classified into 4 stages. First and second levels were considered model to be objective and the third and fourth stages were perceived as subjective. The first level is to view the model as a visual representation of a phenomenon as it is, and the second level is to think that the model corresponds to objective knowledge or theory and is a tool for explanation. The Third level looks at the model as a scientist's exploration tool and fourth level is to think that the model is provisional one and multiple models can coexist in one phenomenon. The progression levels of science metamodeling knowledge of science high school students derived from this study is expected to be used as a reference when constructing a curriculum for science modeling and modeling for gifted students.

An Analysis of Nursing Research on Child Rearing in Korea (자녀양육에 대한 국내 간호학분야 연구논문 분석)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze papers on child rearing in Korea and to suggest future research and nursing practice directions for child rearing. Methods: An on-line search via 5 web sites yielded 201 research papers. The analysis of key concepts was based on the attributes of parenting and type of knowledge held by the parents. Results: The research papers found in the search were 27.3% experimental and 72.7% non-experimental. Among the participants, 77.0% of parents raising the child were mothers and the children were mostly young children under the age of one year. Types of knowledge related to child rearing varied widely, but explanatory knowledge (55.2%) was the most common, followed by prescriptive knowledge (30.0%) and descriptive knowledge (14.8%). For attributes of parenting, reaction to parenting (49.9%) followed by parenting behavior/practice (43.1%) was most common. Conclusion: Findings of this study indicate that further research is necessary regarding fathers and surrogate caregivers and on prescriptive knowledge for health promotion of children at different developmental stages. Also the results suggest a need for research toward developing child care policies.

  • 요즘은 자동화가 발달됨에 따라 모든 산업에 있어서 고도의 기술과 폭넓은 지식이 요구되게 되었다. 이러한 세대의 요구에 대응하기 위하여는 전기기술자라 할지라도 전기지식 뿐만 아니라 다른 분야의 지식도 어느 정도 알아 두어야 할 필요가 있다. 특히 기계와는 밀접한 관계에 있으므로 더할 나위가 없다. 그래서 빌딩에 시설되어 있는 기계설비중 비교적 중요하게 다루어지는 펌프(Pump), 보일러(Boiler), 냉동기(冷凍機), 공기조절기(空氣調節機)등에 대해서 그 기초적 지식과 실무요점에 관하여 설명하기로 한다.

Communal Ontology of Landmarks for Urban Regional Navigation (도시 지역 이동을 위한 랜드마크의 공유 온톨로지 연구)

  • Due to the growing popularity of mobile information technology, more people, especially in the general public, have access to computerized geospatial information systems for wayfinding tasks or urban navigation. One of the problems with the current services is that, whether the users are exploring or navigating, whether they are travelers who are totally new to a region or long-term residents who have a fair amount of regional knowledge, the same method is applied and the direction are given in the same way. However, spatial knowledge for a given urban region expands in proportion to residency. Urban navigation is highly dependent on cognitive mental images, which is developed through spatial experience and social communication. Thus, the wayfinding service for a regional community can be highly supported, using well-known regional places. This research is to develop the framework for urban navigation within a regional community. The concept of communal ontology is proposed to aid in urban regional navigation. The experimental work was implemented with case study to collect regional landmarks, develop the ontological model and represent it with formal structure. The final product of this study will provide the geographical information of a region to the other agent and be the fundamental information structure for cognitive urban regional navigation.

  • 최근 정보와 지식의 폭발적인 증가, 인터넷과 IT 기술의 발달로 어떻게 하면 핵심적인 정보를 찾아내고 그러한 지식이 어떻게 발전할 것인지에 대한 연구의 일환으로 semantic web, DB mining 등의 다양한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 이를 위해서 ontology 등 지식의 구조화작업 등이 큰 관심을 끌고 있다. 또 이러한 지식을 디지털 화하고 계량화해서 새로운 지식을 창출하는 방법들인 informatics, informetrics 등의 분야도 급속히 관심을 끌고 있다.

지식기반 국가선진화 전략

  • 최근 급변하는 세계정세 속에 미래의 불확실성과 위협이 커져가는 실정에서 미래예측에 기반한 국정운영 시스템과 함께, 이를 과학적이고 체계적으로 지원할 수 있는 지식기반의 미래예측 인프라가 필요하다. 또한 기술 발달과 사회 환경의 미래 변화가 국가의 경쟁력으로 발현될 수 있도록 정책과 제도체계 마련이 선행되어야 혁신적 창의적 노력이 성공하고 기회를 선점할 수 있다. 결국, 지식기반과 국정 운영의 융합으로 지속가능한 국가선진화를 달성할 수 있을 것이다. 본고에서는 기술(공급), 사회(수요), 정책간의 상호작용을 중심으로 지식기반 국가선진화 전략을 제시하였다. 지식기반 국가선진화 전략은 국가 미래비전을 제시하고 추진하는 국정운영 인프라(Governance Infra), 지식기반 인프라(Knowledge Infra), 멘탈 인프라(Mental Infra)로 구성되어있다.
