In the two-way relay channel, the relay employ Amplify-and-Forward (AF) or Decode-and-Forward (DF) protocol, and broadcast the network-coded signal to both user. In the system, DF protocol provides maximum throughput at low signal to noise ratio(SNR). On the other hand, at high SNR, AF protocol provides maximum throughput. The paper propose active transmission scheme which employ Amplify-and-Forward or Decode-and-Forward protocol based on received SNR at the relay over Two-way relay channel. The optimal threshold is investigated numerically for switching the protocol. Through numerical results, we confirm that the proposed scheme outperforms conventional schemes over two-way relay channel.

In this paper, we analyze the performance of dual-hop amplify-and-forward (AF) relaying in cooperative networks with partial relay selection. An AF relay gain considered in this paper includes channel-noise-assisted relay gain. Leveraging a received signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) model, we derive exact closed-form expressions for the probability density function (pdf) and cumulative distribution function (cdf) of the end-to-end SNR. Moreover, an exact closed-form expression of the ergodic capacity for dual-hop AF relaying with channel-noise-assisted relay gain and partial relay selection is investigated. The analytical results shown in this paper are confirmed by Monte-Carlo simulations.

We propose a simple power allocation scheme for an amplify-and-forward multiple relay system with multiple-input multiple-output antennas. Unlike the existing relay precoding matrix with full elements, proposed precoder is a diagonal matrix whose diagonal element is the relay gain for each stream. Furthermore, a weight vector is applied to streams, such that the mutual information of the system approaches that of the exhaustive search scheme, regardless of the number of antennas. Numerical results show that proposed scheme outperforms the conventional schemes with respect to mutual information.

Comparing conventional one-way relaying, two-way relaying scheme with network coding can achieve high throughput by reducing the transmission time. Coded cooperation protocol, which is a algorithm that uses coding on physical layer, can achieve high reliability. In this paper, we propose coded cooperation protocol over two-way relay network. Simulation results show proposed protocol has better performance in terms of reliability and throughput compare with conventional amplify and forward protocol. Also, with same throughput, proposed protocol has better performance in terms of reliability compare with the conventional hybrid decoded and forward protocol.

In this paper, the linear source and relay precoders are designed for AF MIMO relay systems. In order to minimize mean squared error (MSE) of received symbol vector, the source and relay precoders are proposed, and MMSE receiver which is suitable to those precoders is utilized at the destination node. As the optimal precoders for source and relay nodes are not represented in closed form and induced by iterative method, we suggest a simple precoder design scheme. Simulation results show that the performance of the proposed precoding scheme is comparable with that of optimal scheme and outperforms other relay precoding schemes. Moreover, in high SNR region, it is revealed that SNR between source and relay node is more influential than SNR between relay and destination node in terms of bit error rate.
In this paper, a cooperative jamming network with multiple relays and multiple eavesdroppers is investigated. Among the relays, one best relay is selected to amplify and forward the signal to destination through two phases. To confuse eavesdroppers, the destination transmits a jamming signal in the first phase and the source transmits jamming signal in the second phase. Secrecy rate of this system is derived, and based on the available channel state information (CSI), relay selection schemes are proposed, respectively. Numerical results show that the performance of the proposed relay selection scheme outperforms than that of random relay selection scheme.

Exploiting multiple antennas at mobile devices is difficult due to limited size and power. In this paper, a distributed MIMO protocol achieving the capacity of conventinal MIMO systems is proposed and analyzed. For exploiting distributed MIMO features, Quantize-Map-and-Forward (QMF) scheme shows improved performance than Amplify-and-Forward (AF) scheme. Also, the protocol based on multiple access channel (MAC) is proposed to improve the multiplexing gain. We showed that sufficient condition of the number of slave nodes to achieve the gain of a MAC based protocol. Because the base station can support multiple clusters operating in distributed MIMO, the total cellular capacity can be extremely enhanced in proportional to the number of clusters.

Cooperative networks transmit signals form the source node to the destination node via several relay node where the combining and demodulation of relay aided signals provide the benefit of performance enhancement and data rate increment. In general, a repetitive manner transmission scheme in which the received signal from the source node is amplified/re-generated and forward to the destination node is widely used. In this paper, we analyzed the performance of cooperative networks using the mixed transmission scheme. The conventional modulation scheme is used in the source-relay links, and space-time code is applied in the relay-destination links. To reduce the complexity of the overall system, we adopt differential modulation which bypasses channel state information. We analyze bit error rate (BER) of the proposed system by considering the number of relay nodes, and the performances depending on the strength of transmission signal in the source-relays and rely-destination links are compared. In addition, we also discuss the system performance with the signal strength and the number of relay nodes simultaneously.
