Construction of an Audio Steganography Botnet Based on Telegram Messenger (텔레그램 메신저 기반의 오디오 스테가노그래피 봇넷 구축)

  • Steganography is a hidden technique in which secret messages are hidden in various multimedia files, and it is widely exploited for cyber crime and attacks because it is very difficult for third parties other than senders and receivers to identify the presence of hidden information in communication messages. Botnet typically consists of botmasters, bots, and C&C (Command & Control) servers, and is a botmasters-controlled network with various structures such as centralized, distributed (P2P), and hybrid. Recently, in order to enhance the concealment of botnets, research on Stego Botnet, which uses SNS platforms instead of C&C servers and performs C&C communication by applying steganography techniques, has been actively conducted, but image or video media-oriented stego botnet techniques have been studied. On the other hand, audio files such as various sound sources and recording files are also actively shared on SNS, so research on stego botnet based on audio steganography is needed. Therefore, in this study, we present the results of comparative analysis on hidden capacity by file type and tool through experiments, using a stego botnet that performs C&C hidden communication using audio files as a cover medium in Telegram Messenger.

A Centralized Deployment Protocol with Sufficient Coverage and Connectivity Guarantee for WSNs (무선 센서 네트워크에서 유효 커버리지 및 접속성 보장을 위한 중앙 집중형 배치 프로토콜)

  • Reducing power consumption to extend network lifetime is one of the most important challenges in designing wireless sensor networks. One promising approach to conserving system energy is to keep only a minimal number of sensors active and put others into low-powered sleep mode, while the active sensors can maintain a connected covet set for the target area. The problem of computing such minimum working sensor set is NP-hard. In this paper, a centralized Voronoi tessellation (CVT) based approximate algorithm is proposed to construct the near optimal cover set. When sensor's communication radius is at least twice of its sensing radius, the covet set is connected at the same time; In case of sensor's communication radius is smaller than twice of its sensing radius, a connection scheme is proposed to calculate the assistant nodes needed for constructing the connectivity of the cover set. Finally, the performance of the proposed algorithm is evaluated through theoretical analysis and extensive numerical experiments. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms the greedy algorithm in terms of the runtime and the size of the constructed connected cover set.

  • A rapid growth of mobile devices and a proliferation of wireless networks lead to changing the existing environment into a mobile environment. Expansion of mobile environment makes a pressing need of mobile databases, and there are several solutions to achieve it. But they still accompany with some problems. Especially, the current synchronization server that manages consistently many mobile database management systems is based on the centralized method to synchronize data between the mobile database systems. It is the major factor that causes the lower performance of the whole system. Furthermore, the fault tolerance has not been considered in the existing systems. Therefore, we suggest the mobile agent-based mobile database system in order to resolve the problems. The system, we propose in this paper, provides the high-performance of the whole system by mobile grouping, and also may support a fault-tolerance management method.

Performance Evaluation of Hybrid Distributed Mobility Management (하이브리드 분산 이동성 관리 방식의 성능 평가)

  • To overcome the limitations of the current Central Mobility Management (CMM) protocols, IETF has been discussing about the Distributed Mobility Management (DMM) protocols that the centralized mobility functions of Home Agents (HA) are distributed to network edges closer to mobile users. The DMM protocol has some advantages of low-cost traffic delivery and high scalability. However, it faces several problems such as a high signaling cost and a complex address management. Especially, users moving at a high speed and with long-live sessions can make these problems worse. To reduce the high signaling cost for long-live sessions, we propose a novel hybrid DMM protocol allocating different mobility anchors according to the session durations. In this paper, we analyze the performance of the proposed hybrid DMM protocol and show superior performance with respect to the signaling cost.

  • Nowadays a Virtual Power Plant (VPP) represents an aggregation of distributed energy resource such as Distributed Generation (DG), Combined Heat and Power generation (CHP), Energy Storage Systems (ESS) and load in order to operate as a single power plant by using Information and Communication Technologies, ICT. The VPP has been developed and verified based on a single virtual plant platform which is connected with a number of various distributed energy resources. As the VPP's distributed energy resources increase, so does the number of data from distributed energy. Moreover, it is obviously inefficient in the aspects of technique and cost that a virtual plant platform operates in a centralized manner over widespread region. In this paper the concept of the large-scale VPP which can reduce a error probability of system's load and increase the robustness of data exchange among distributed energy resources will be proposed. In addition, it can directly control and supervise energy resource by making small size's virtual platform which can make a optimal resource scheduling to consider of variable and sensitive load in the large-scale VPP. It makes certain the result is verified by simulation.

A Scenario-Based User-Oriented Integrated Architecture for Supporting Interoperability among Heterogeneous Home Network Middlewares (이질적인 홈 네트워크 미들웨어 상호 연동성 지원을 위한 사용자 중심의 시나리오 기반 통합 구조)

  • Although there exist many middlewares such as Havi, Jini, LonWorks, UPnP, and SLP, new middlewares specialized for diverse information appliances are expected to appear continuously as home networks evolve. In this paper, we examine an integrated architecture for supporting interoperability among heterogeneous middlewares under home network, we also propose and implement a scenario-based user-oriented integrated architecture for efficient home automation which is different from existing methods. HOMI(Homenetwork Middleware for Interoperability) architecture proposed in this paper provides interfaces that assist users with designing and modifying desirable scenarios using a script interpreter language HOMIL(HOMI Language). Different from an existing integrated middleware architecture, HOMI improves efficiency and convenience of interoperation between heterogeneous appliances for home automation allowing users to design and organize scenarios through these interfaces. HOMI classifies interoperation services into time contort, synchronization context, and asynchronization context and helps to execute next services considering contexts when a specific event occurs. Applying modified scenarios immediately to home network environment, HOMI provides users with seamless services without installing new applications, updating the server, or rebooting in order to adopt new scenarios. Lastly, distribution agents into several devices, we solved the overhead problem occurred in a centralized architecture for integrated middleware.

A Maximally Disjoint Multipath Routing Protocol Based on AODV in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (모바일 애드혹 네트워크에서의 AODV 기반 치대 비중첩 다중경로 라우팅 프로토콜)

  • A mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is a collection of mobile nodes without any fixed infrastructure or my form of centralized administration such as access points and base stations. The ad hoc on-demand distance vector routing (AODV) protocol is an on-demand routing protocol for MANETs, which is one of the Internet-Drafts submitted to the Internet engineering task force (IETF) MANET working group. This paper proposes a new multipath routing protocol called maximally disjoint multipath AODV (MDAODV), which exploits maximally node- and link-disjoint paths and outperforms the conventional multipath protocol based on AODV as well as the basic AODV protocol. The key idea is to extend only route request (RREQ) message by adding source routing information and to make the destination node select two paths from multiple RREQs received for a predetermined time period. Compared to the conventional multipath routing protocol, the proposed MDAODV provides more reliable and robust routing paths and higher performance. It also makes the destination node determine the maximally node- and link-disjoint paths, reducing the overhead incurred at intermediate nodes. Our extensive simulation study shows that the proposed MDAODV outperforms the conventional multipath routing protocol based on AODV in terms of packet delivery ratio and average end-to-end delay, and reduces routing overhead.

  • Although online social network services widely used in human networking and recruiting industries, it is showing off its limitations in followings-it's hard to reach the status of seamless connection between offline and online; the incompletion and low credibility of the information came from non-face-to-face profile exchange; and the restraint of user autonomy due to centralized control. This paper defines the ubiquitous social network management which enables the seamless real-time face-to-face social interactions of the users based on WPAN (Wireless Personal Area Network) who share the same interest in real word and deduces a ubiquitous social network management framework based on it. As an instance of ubiquitous social network management, u-Recruiting service model will be designed and analyzed. The Analysis using the business model will be followed by the possible scenario of service model. The role, value proposition and potential benefits of the each participants in this service model and will be given as well. In order to evaluate relative advantages of the model suggested by this study, 6 cases will be compared.

Mutual-Backup Architecture of SIP-Servers in Wireless Backbone based Networks (무선 백본 기반 통신망을 위한 상호 보완 SIP 서버 배치 구조)

  • The voice communications with wireless backbone based networks are evolving into a packet switching VoIP systems. In those networks, a call processing scheme is required for management of subscribers and connection between them. A VoIP service scheme for those systems requires reliable subscriber management and connection establishment schemes, but the conventional call processing schemes based on the centralized server has lack of reliability. Thus, the mutual-backup architecture of SIP-servers is required to ensure efficient subscriber management and reliable VoIP call processing capability, and the synchronization and call processing schemes should be changed as the architecture is changed. In this paper, a mutual-backup architecture of SIP-servers is proposed for wireless backbone based networks. A message format for synchronization and information exchange between SIP servers is also proposed in the paper. This paper also proposes a FSM scheme for the fast call processing in unreliable networks to detect multiple servers at a time. The performance analysis results show that the mutual backup server architecture increases the call processing success rates than conventional centralized server architecture. Also, the FSM scheme provides the smaller call processing times than conventional SIP, and the time is not increased although the number of SIP servers in the networks is increased.

  • Up to this day, mobile communications have evolved rapidly over the decades, mainly focusing on speed-up to meet the growing data demands of 2G to 5G. And with the start of the 5G era, efforts are being made to provide such various services to customers, as IoT, V2X, robots, artificial intelligence, augmented virtual reality, and smart cities, which are expected to change the environment of our lives and industries as a whole. In a bid to provide those services, on top of high speed data, reduced latency and reliability are critical for real-time services. Thus, 5G has paved the way for service delivery through maximum speed of 20Gbps, a delay of 1ms, and a connecting device of 106/㎢ In particular, in intelligent traffic control systems and services using various vehicle-based Vehicle to X (V2X), such as traffic control, in addition to high-speed data speed, reduction of delay and reliability for real-time services are very important. 5G communication uses high frequencies of 3.5Ghz and 28Ghz. These high-frequency waves can go with high-speed thanks to their straightness while their short wavelength and small diffraction angle limit their reach to distance and prevent them from penetrating walls, causing restrictions on their use indoors. Therefore, under existing networks it's difficult to overcome these constraints. The underlying centralized SDN also has a limited capability in offering delay-sensitive services because communication with many nodes creates overload in its processing. Basically, SDN, which means a structure that separates signals from the control plane from packets in the data plane, requires control of the delay-related tree structure available in the event of an emergency during autonomous driving. In these scenarios, the network architecture that handles in-vehicle information is a major variable of delay. Since SDNs in general centralized structures are difficult to meet the desired delay level, studies on the optimal size of SDNs for information processing should be conducted. Thus, SDNs need to be separated on a certain scale and construct a new type of network, which can efficiently respond to dynamically changing traffic and provide high-quality, flexible services. Moreover, the structure of these networks is closely related to ultra-low latency, high confidence, and hyper-connectivity and should be based on a new form of split SDN rather than an existing centralized SDN structure, even in the case of the worst condition. And in these SDN structural networks, where automobiles pass through small 5G cells very quickly, the information change cycle, round trip delay (RTD), and the data processing time of SDN are highly correlated with the delay. Of these, RDT is not a significant factor because it has sufficient speed and less than 1 ms of delay, but the information change cycle and data processing time of SDN are factors that greatly affect the delay. Especially, in an emergency of self-driving environment linked to an ITS(Intelligent Traffic System) that requires low latency and high reliability, information should be transmitted and processed very quickly. That is a case in point where delay plays a very sensitive role. In this paper, we study the SDN architecture in emergencies during autonomous driving and conduct analysis through simulation of the correlation with the cell layer in which the vehicle should request relevant information according to the information flow. For simulation: As the Data Rate of 5G is high enough, we can assume the information for neighbor vehicle support to the car without errors. Furthermore, we assumed 5G small cells within 50 ~ 250 m in cell radius, and the maximum speed of the vehicle was considered as a 30km ~ 200 km/hour in order to examine the network architecture to minimize the delay.
