Thin Layer Drying Model of Black Soybean (검은콩의 박층건조모델)

  • 국내 콩의 소비량은 계속적으로 증가하고 있다. 재배 면적은 1995년 10,000ha에서 2013년 8,000ha까지 계속적으로 감소하였으며, 수입은 2009년 644.9백만 달러에서 2013년 883.3백만 달러까지 계속적인 증가 추세에 있다. 건조는 품질 손상을 최소화 및 수분을 제거하는 공정이다. 모든 곡물에는 건조 조건에 따라서 품질이 크게 변화하며, 건조 과정을 해석하여 해당 곡물의 적정 건조 조건을 구명하여 품질을 유지하는 위해서는 중요하다(Keum, 등 1977). 얇은 두께의 곡물층을 단층으로 하여 건조속도 및 건조공기의 조건을 나타내는 것을 박층(Thin layer)건조모델이라 한다. 박층건조모델을 계속적으로 쌓은 모델을 후층(Deep layer)모델이라 하며, 건조기 개발 및 건조조건 구명에 가장 기본이 된다(Basunia and Abe, 1998). 그러나 해외에서 만들어진 콩 박층건조 모델은 국내의 검은콩과 물성이 상이하여 건조조건이 다르게 설정 되어야 한다. 따라서, 본 연구목적은 건조온도 2수준, 상대습도 3수준에 대하여 검은 콩의 건조속도 측정하고, 곡물건조방정식으로 많이 이용되고 있는 4개의 건조방정식에 대하여 모델 적합성을 검정하여 검은콩 건조에 적합한 박층건조모델 결정하는데 있다. 공시재료는 2015년 강원도지역에서 생산된 검은콩을 실험에 사용하였으며, 초기 함수율은 14.7%,w.b.였다. 박층 건조공기 조성은 공기조화장치(MTH4100, SANYO, UK)를 사용하여 조성하였으며, 송풍기에 의해 공기충만실을 통과하여 건조 층을 통과하도록 구성하였다. 목표 평형함수율에 도달하면 실험을 종료하였다. 건조 층의 초기중량 및 경시적 변화는 전자저울(GF-4000, AND, Japan)을 이용하여 10분 간격 측정하여 저장하였다. 적정 박층건조모델을 결정하기 위하여 기존의 곡물건조방정식 중 널리 사용되고 있는 4개(Lewis, 1921; Page, 1949; Thompson, 1967; Moisture diffusion, 1975)의 건조모델을 이용하여 비교 검증하였다. 건조 초기 2시간 까지는 급격히 감소하다가 건조속도에 영향을 미치는 반건조시간(MR=0.5) 이후에는 완만하게 건조되는 것으로 나타났고 건조조건으로 건조온도 및 상대습도 모두의 영향이 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 4가지 건조 모델과 비교한 결과 Thompson 모델이 전체 건조 영역에서 비교적 잘 일치하였다.

Suppression of Chilling Injury and Maintenance of Quality Characteristics in Prunus Mume Fruits Stored under Controlled Atmosphere (CA 저장에 의한 청매실의 저온장해 발생 억제 및 품질 특성 유지 효과)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effect of CA(4% $O_2$ and 7.5% $CO_2$) storage on the quality characteristics and chilling injury in 'Nanko' prunus mume fruits at 1, 5, and $9^{\circ}C$. CA storage reduced production of $CO_2$ and $C_2H_4$ significantly. Hue values of fruit skin were significantly higher in fruits stored at $1^{\circ}C$ and $5^{\circ}C$ than $9^{\circ}C$. Weight loss was much lower in fruits stored under CA storage. Soluble solids content (SSC) titratable acids (TA), and firmness were maintained and electrolyte leakage was lower in fruits stored under CA storage. Ratios of chilling injury and decay were increased faster at $5^{\circ}C$ and $9^{\circ}C$ than $1^{\circ}C$. The chilling injury was suppressed in fruits of CA storage compared with control fruits during cold storage. These results indicate that CA storage at $1^{\circ}C$ of prunus mume fruits extended the storage life up to 30 days without quality deterioration. effectively.

The Drying Characteristics of Cooked-Ginseng Root and Its Shrinkage during Dehydration (증자인삼(蒸煮人蔘)의 건조특성(乾燥特性)과 건조(乾燥)에 수반(隨伴)하는 삼근(蔘根)의 수축(收縮))

  • Hot air drying characteristics of six year old cooked ginseng root at temperature ranges of $55{\sim}75^{\circ}C$ under 1.8m/sec air velocity and shrinkages accompained were investigated. Drying time to reach equilibrium moisture content of the root takes from 20 to 30 hours, depending on the subjected drying temperatures and root sizes. Drying curve shows that it has two or three falling stages and drying constant are continuously changed. Higher drying constant was observed both at early and late stages of drying. Shrinkage ratio of length, diameters, surface area and volume of the root were 13.0, 39.8, 47.7 and 68.5%, respectively, after 40 hours dry at $55^{\circ}C$. The most of shrinkage was observed at early drying stage.

Effects of Soil Nitrogen Addition on Microbial Activities and Litter Decomposition (토양 내 질소 증가가 미생물 활성 및 식물체의 분해에 미치는 영향)

  • The present study investigates the effects of elevated soil nitrogen on growth and decomposition of Oryza sativa shoots. The plants were cultivated in greenhouse until leaf senescence and the total biomass of the plant increased 1.9 times at nitrogen addition plot. Total C and N content in shoot increased; however, lignin, C/N, and lignin/N levels decreased in the N-treated soil. The shoot litters collected from the control and N-treated soil were tested for decay and microbial biomass, $CO_2$ evolution, and enzyme activities during decomposition on the control and N-treated soil at $25^{\circ}C$ microcosm. The remaining mass of the shoot litter was approximately 6% higher in the litter collected from the control soil (53.0%) than the litter collected from high N-treated soil (47.1%). However, the high N-containing litter exhibited faster decay in the control soil than in the N-treated soil. The litter containing high N, low C/N, and low lignin/N showed a higher decomposition rate than that of low quality litter. The N-addition showed decreased microbial biomass C and dehydrogenase activity in soil; however, it exhibited high microbial biomass N and urease activity in soil. When the high N-containing litter decays on the N-treated soil, the microbial biomass C increased rapidly at the initial phase of decomposition and decreased thereafter, and dehydrogenase activity was less that of other treatment; however, there was no effect on the microbial biomass N. The urease in the decomposing litter was highest during the early decomposition stage and dramatically decreased thereafter. The present findings suggested that the N-addition increased N content in litter, but inhibited the decomposition process of above-ground biomass in terrestrial ecosystems.

  • This experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of slow-release fertilizer on warm type garlic cultivation in the Southwestern region of Korea. The slow-release fertilizers used were UF(Urea-Formaldehydes)70, 100, 130, CDU(Crotonylidene Diurea)100, and IBDU(Isobuty- lidene Diurea)100. The slow-release fertilizer treatment slightly increased plant height, leaf sheath diameter, and leaf number compare with conventional fertilizer treatment. Also, large bulb rate, nitrogen and pyruvic acid contents of garlic in slow-release fertilizer plot were higher than other treatments. Application of slow-release fertilizer increased the commercial yields.

  • Sulfonated Polysulfone (SPSF) cation-exchange membranes were synthesized by introducing various ratio of chlorosulfuric acid (CSA) onto the main chain of polysulfone (PSF). Properties such as ion exchange capacity, water content, liked ion concentration, and partition coefficient were measured, respectively. Through the analysis of DSC and TGA, it has been shown that glass transition temperature increased and weight loss decreased as sulfuric acid group concentration increased. Structure of membrane measured by AFM and SEM was seen to be asymmetric. Apparent diffusion coefficient of sodium ions through SPSF membrane by AC impedance was increased as sulfuric acid group concentration increased.

Quality Characteristics of Noodle Added with Chlorella Extract (클로렐라 추출물 첨가 국수의 품질 특성)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate quality characteristics of noodles when different concentrations of chlorella extract powder were added to the wheat flour. The characteristics of noodle including cooking properties, color, mechanical texture properties, and sensory properties were determined. The noodles containing chlorella extract powder exhibited higher values in cooked weight, volume, moisture absorption, and cooking loss. When the amount of chlorella extract powder increased, the Hunter L(lightness) value, a(redness) value of cooked noodles decreased but b(yellowness) value increased. From the textural properties measured by texture analyzer, the noodles with chlorella extract powder were significantly lower in hardness, cohesiveness, springiness, gumminess, and chewiness than those of 100% wheat noodle. The results of sensory evaluation of cooked noodles containing chlorella extract powder indicated that the cooked noodle with 1.5% chlorella extract powder showed the highest value. Based on cooking properties and sensory evaluation, chlorella extract powder up to 1.5% could be substituted for wheat flour to improve the noodle quality.

  • The effect of epoxy resin on the water stability of HAC/PVA based MDF cement composite were stu-died through the three different forming methods calendering extruding and warm pressing. In prexing step the epoxy resin was added in 5-15wt% of cement weight. The 3-point flexural strength of each dry and wet specimen which were immersed in water during 3. 7, 14 days was estmated and the mi-crostructural change of epoxy resin-added MDF cement composite due to water immersion was charac-terized by scanning electron microscopy. As the addition amount of epoxy resin the im-provement of water stability of MDF cement composite was achieved in most case. Especially through the warm press forming method the effectiveness of epoxy resin addition to the water stability was enhanced.   • Suspension polymerization with hydrophobic silica as a stabilizer and AIBN as an initiator was conducted to synthesize PBMA particles and PBMA composite particles containing carbon black. Surface modification of silica particles by controlling pH revealed that 90% of them functioned as stabilizer and 10% were incorporated into PBMA particles. While stabilizer concentration had no impact on reaction kinetics and particle diameter, an increase in stabilizer concentration displayed an increase in molecular weights when it exceeded 1.67 wt%. An increase in initiator concentration and reaction temperature decreased molecular weights in close agreement with the theoretical equation. An increase in carbon black concentration from 1 to 7 wt%, relative to the monomer, showed a progressive decrease in reaction conversion. As carbon black was increased from 3 to 5 wt%, glass transition showed a $4^{\circ}C$ increase. The presence of carbon black was confirmed by TEM while its concentration was measured by TGA.

Biopolishing of Cotton Fabric using Crude Cellulases from Acanthophysium sp. KMF001 (목재부후균, Acanthophysium sp. KMF001, 유래 섬유소분해효소를 이용한 섬유 개량)

  • Biopolishing using cellulases was introduced in the production of cotton fabric in order to improve the quality of fabric environmental friendly and is commonly used in the textile industry. In this study, the application of a crude cellulase from Acanthophysium sp. KMF001, which was excellent for the saccharification of cellulose, on biopolishing was evaluated. The optimum treatment biopolishing condition was at $50^{\circ}C$ and pH 4.5 for 60 minutes with 10% crude cellulase of fabric weight. After the optimized biopolishing, the crude cellulase of Acanthophysium sp. KMF001 reduced the tensile strength of the tested cotton fabric less than a commercial cellulase. The appearance of the cotton fabric after the treatment of the crude cellulase of Acanthophysium sp. KMF001 was similar to the fabric after a commercial cellulase treatment. All these results support that the crude cellulase of Acanthophysium sp. KMF001 was a good biopolishing cellulase.
