This study was conducted to analyze the sensory profiles of commercial rice cookies and snacks in the market and to provide fundamental data on the development of rice cookies and snacks. The sensory characteristics of 10 kinds of Korean commercial rice cookies and snacks were evaluated using a sensory test and were analyzed via quantitative description analysis (QDA) and principal component analysis (PCA), depending on their rice contents and processing methods. The rice cookies and snacks with less than 30% rice contents and that were fried were preferred, and their grainy attribute was related to the preference for them. Then 27 kinds of commercial rice cookies and snacks from three countries, Japan, the U.S.A. and China, were also evaluated and compared with those from Korea. While the Korean commercial rice cookies and snacks were sweet, grainy and crispy, those of Japan were not sweet and instead, were salty and crispy.
Recently, the opening of the world economy and regional ization of national demand endless endeavors and investments to upbring design-industry for regional economic development. Our domestic commodities, declined in price competitiveness against China and Southeast Asian nations, need construction of brand image of commodities and consumers' response through expanded concernments in marketing spheres. The design-industry is a important means to strengthen competitiveness of the domestic industry through discrimination of commodities and creativity of high added value. Design-industry has some problems in circumstances; commodity development and marketing are below the level in the sphere of manufacture industry yet and businessmen are unwilling to invest demanded for development of new design. Establishment of the personal foundation, useful for accumulating competent designers' experiences and technologies, can not pass limit. In addition, a system and a policy to protect design-industry have a problem in effectiveness. Concrete strategies to activate design industry which meets social and cultural circumstances of Daegu and Gyeongbuk region are to establish policy for construction of specialists' infra, systematization of study & development of design, common ownership of information on design, and expansion of design company. The business to upbring design in the region should be operated to develop competitive commodities which is helpful to the regional economy and to increase value of the regional enterprises' brand. In addition, foundation of design should be expanded personal, material, and informational infra through design-centered so that they are helpful to activate economy of Daegu and Gyeongbuk through making design reformational cluster.
Food delivery services are well developed in the Republic of Korea, The increase of one person households and the success of app applications influence delivery services these days. We consider a prediction model for the food delivery service based on weather and dates to predict the number of food delivery services in 2014 using various data mining techniques. We use linear regression, random forest, gradient boosting, support vector machines, neural networks, and logistic regression to find the best prediction model. There are four categories of food delivery services and we consider two methods. For the first method, we estimate the total number of delivery services and the posterior probabilities of each delivery service. For the second method, we use different models for each category and combine them to estimate the total number of delivery services. The neural network and linear regression model perform best in the first method, this is followed by the neural network which is the best for the second method. The result shows that we can estimate the number of deliveries accurately based on dates and weather information.
Peaches (Prunus persica) are less popular than the fresh fruits, because their flesh gets soft faster. So many breeders focused on their aim to firmness. Other breeders focused on juiciness, flavor and aroma. Breeding requires much labor, time and money. To reduce these requirements, many scientists develop many SSR, CAPS and SCAR makers. New peach varieties bred in our National Institute of Horticultural & Herbal Science (NIHHS) such as, Cheonhong, Suhong and Harhong are yellow flesh cultivars and Yumyeong, Baekmijosaeng, Baekhyang, Jinmi, Soomee, Mihong, Misshong and Yumee are white flesh cultivars. These peach cultivars are planted in orchard of Korea. To assert breeding cultivar patents and prevent patent disputes, we detected cultivar-specific DNA fragment using 235 sets of Operon RAPD primers, analyzed 134 DNA sequences and constructed SCAR primers. To confirm the cultivar-specific SCAR markers, we applied candidate SCAR primers to 30 peach cultivars widely cultivated in Korea. These selected lines are included father and mother lines that were used to develop new varieties in NIHHS. Using fourteen SCAR primer sets, we characterized thirty cultivars selected. The SCAR marker is expected to serve as molecular evidence distinguishing different peach varieties.

This paper aims to investigate ideological preferences of news media outlets by looking at the news coverage of North Korea-Russia summit in April, 2019. The meeting has gained attention in South Korea, China, Japan and America in that the historical meeting will reflect the future direction for denuclearization on the Korean peninsular and the peace in the world. Given this, in particular, a special attention is paid to the editorials and headlines of news articles reported in two Korean quality newspapers, DongA Ilbo and Hankyoreh because both are quality newspapers, but are ideologically different. To achieve objectivity and fairness, the same issues dealt with during the summit were compared and analyzed within Martin and White (2005)'s Appraisal framework. As a result, it was found that in editorials of DongA Ilbo showed a negative stance to the summit by employing the 'attitude' factor, whereas the Hankyoreh was overwhelmingly positive toward the issue, also by employing the 'attitude' factor. The political stance is likely to be in line with those shown in the headlines of news articles from each newspaper. That is, it is clear that each news outlet shows its ideological stances to news consumers through linguistic expressions, in that both editorials and the headlines of news articles express their political preferences to the summit by means of linguistic appraisals.

The persimmon is commonly cultivated in temperate regions of the world, including China, Korea, Japan, Brazil, Turkey, and Italy. In some Asian cultures, consumers are aware of the health claims related to the persimmon and its functional ingredients. The rich phytochemistry of the persimmon has opened new avenues of research on diet-based regimens designed to cure various ailments. This study was conducted to identify the genotoxicity of immature green persimmon (Diospyros kaki THUNB.) extract (DKA). The bacterial reverse mutation assay, the chromosomal aberration assay, and the mammalian micronucleus test were performed to determine the DKA genotoxicity. The result of the bacterial reverse mutation assay revealed that the DKA did not induce mutagenicity in Salmonella typhimurium TA98, TA100, TA1535, TA1537 and Escherichia coli WP2uvrA with or without metabolic activation of S9 mixture. The oral administration of DKA also caused no significant increase in the number of micronucleated polychromatic erythrocytes or in the mean ratio of polychromatic to total erythrocytes. In addition, DKA did not cause a significant chromosome aberration on CHL cells in the presence or absence of S9 activation. In conclusion, DKA could be considered as a reliable and safe functional food since no toxicity was found under the condition of this study.
Negative perceptions about corporate social responsibility (CSR) crises and repeated crises are increasing. It is necessary to examine the effects of a proactive strategy of disclosing crisis information against the negative perceptions. The research is intended to analyze ability-based trust, and benevolence-based trust by crisis type, crisis history, and timing of crisis disclosure. In this regard, a 2 (crisis history: present vs. absent) x 2 (crisis type: corporate ability crisis vs CSR crisis) x 2 (timing of crisis disclosure: stealing thunder vs thunder) between-groups design experiment was conducted. Research results show crisis type and crisis history have significant interaction effects on ability-based trust. In the CSR crisis, the case with crisis history shows lower ability-based trust than the case without crisis history. Timing of crisis disclosure showed significant interactions with crisis history and crisis type. The stealing thunder strategy heigntened ability-based trust and benevolence-based trust against the CSR crises and the cases without crisis history more than the corporate ability crises and the cases with crisis history. Considering that the stealing thunder strategy is more effective with the CSR crises than the corporate ability crises, the research results suggest that future CSR crisis responses should prepare active disclosure of crisis information before news media disclosure of such information.
This study provides a prospect for the fast growing the smartwatch market by investigating the relationship between the satisfaction and the continuous use intention of Apple watch users, as well as the factors influencing their satisfaction. Based on the TAM, this study uses system quality, information quality, and self-efficacy as independent variables, perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and satisfaction as mediators, and continuous use intention as the dependent variable. We analyze the data of 256 individuals who completed an online survey with SPSS 26.0 and AMOS 26.0 software. This study conducts several tests and analyses to empirically evaluate the data including reliability analysis, factor analysis, feasibility analysis, path analysis, hypothesis verification, and mediation analysis. Our results investigate which factors may influence consumers' intention to continuously using Apple Watch devices in the future. In summary, satisfaction has a positive effect on the intention to continuously use smartwatchs. Perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use have a positive effect on satisfaction. Among the three factors (system quality, information quality, and self-efficacy), only self-efficacy has no significant impact on perceived usefulness but had a positive effect on perceived ease of use. In addition, system quality and information quality positively affect perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, satisfaction, and continuous intention to use an Apple Watch. Taking the Apple Watch as the subject of our research topic, this study provides theoretical value by exploring the impact of user's satisfaction with their smartwatch on their continuous usage intention. This study further explains the influence of system quality, information quality, and self-efficacy on user satisfaction. Additionally, this research offers valuable insight to practitioners by confirming that information quality, system quality, and self-efficacy are important features for enhancing satisfactory user experiences which in turn may increase users' intention to continued using smartwatches.

The nutritional components of 14 new cultivars of pak choi (Brassica rapa L. ssp. chinensis) from China were analyzed and compared with 4 cultivars of Chinese cabbage (Brassica rapa L. ssp. pekinensis) popular in Korea. Leaves were separated into green parts (GP) and white parts (WP) for the analyses. The moisture and ash content in the 14 new cultivars of pak choi were not significantly different from the currently popular cultivars of Chinese cabbage. In addition, the levels of vitamin C and E were very similar between the two kinds of Brassica rapa. In contrast, the overall mineral content was higher in the new pak choi cultivars. Specifically, minerals important for human health, calcium and magnesium, were significantly greater in pak choi cultivars (calcium GP 2.57, WP 2.04; magnesium GP 0.422, WP 0.301 mg/g fresh weight) compared to currently popular cultivars (calcium GP 0.805, WP 0.477; magnesium GP 0.244, WP 0.101 mg/g fresh weight). Although the content of reducing sugars was similar, cellulose content (which correlates with the hardness of plant tissue) was four times higher in the new pak choi cultivars compared to currently popular cultivars. These results demonstrate that the new pak choi cultivars have superb nutritional benefits for human health and could be a good food source as a daily staple vegetable.
Document classification based on emotional polarity has become a welcomed emerging task owing to the great explosion of data on the Web. In the big data age, there are too many information sources to refer to when making decisions. For example, when considering travel to a city, a person may search reviews from a search engine such as Google or social networking services (SNSs) such as blogs, Twitter, and Facebook. The emotional polarity of positive and negative reviews helps a user decide on whether or not to make a trip. Sentiment analysis of customer reviews has become an important research topic as datamining technology is widely accepted for text mining of the Web. Sentiment analysis has been used to classify documents through machine learning techniques, such as the decision tree, neural networks, and support vector machines (SVMs). is used to determine the attitude, position, and sensibility of people who write articles about various topics that are published on the Web. Regardless of the polarity of customer reviews, emotional reviews are very helpful materials for analyzing the opinions of customers through their reviews. Sentiment analysis helps with understanding what customers really want instantly through the help of automated text mining techniques. Sensitivity analysis utilizes text mining techniques on text on the Web to extract subjective information in the text for text analysis. Sensitivity analysis is utilized to determine the attitudes or positions of the person who wrote the article and presented their opinion about a particular topic. In this study, we developed a model that selects a hot topic from user posts at China's online stock forum by using the k-means algorithm and self-organizing map (SOM). In addition, we developed a detecting model to predict a hot topic by using machine learning techniques such as logit, the decision tree, and SVM. We employed sensitivity analysis to develop our model for the selection and detection of hot topics from China's online stock forum. The sensitivity analysis calculates a sentimental value from a document based on contrast and classification according to the polarity sentimental dictionary (positive or negative). The online stock forum was an attractive site because of its information about stock investment. Users post numerous texts about stock movement by analyzing the market according to government policy announcements, market reports, reports from research institutes on the economy, and even rumors. We divided the online forum's topics into 21 categories to utilize sentiment analysis. One hundred forty-four topics were selected among 21 categories at online forums about stock. The posts were crawled to build a positive and negative text database. We ultimately obtained 21,141 posts on 88 topics by preprocessing the text from March 2013 to February 2015. The interest index was defined to select the hot topics, and the k-means algorithm and SOM presented equivalent results with this data. We developed a decision tree model to detect hot topics with three algorithms: CHAID, CART, and C4.5. The results of CHAID were subpar compared to the others. We also employed SVM to detect the hot topics from negative data. The SVM models were trained with the radial basis function (RBF) kernel function by a grid search to detect the hot topics. The detection of hot topics by using sentiment analysis provides the latest trends and hot topics in the stock forum for investors so that they no longer need to search the vast amounts of information on the Web. Our proposed model is also helpful to rapidly determine customers' signals or attitudes towards government policy and firms' products and services.
