  • In Korea, the function of Jeong(亭), Jeongja(亭子), and Nujeong(樓亭) architecture is essentially rest. However, in China, where the name Jeong was first coined and used, Jeong was not only used as a place of rest, but also for a variety of functions depending on the time and region, such as building units for guard posts, policing, and mail delivery. But why is it that in Korea, Jeong is primarily perceived and used as place of rest? Starting from this question, this article examines the historical process of the emergence of Jeong and its changing functions, focusing on the official history of China, and then examines the perception of Jeong in Korea through its connection to the dominant function of Jeong in China during the period of Jeong's emergence in Korean literature. This will help us to fundamentally understand the differences between Jeong architecture in Korea and Jeong architecture in China, and to further clarify the historical significance of the types of Jeongja and Nujeong architecture in Korea.

As a populous country with the largest population and the largest number of elderly people, China has made great progress in the field of the Barrier-free. The scope of this thesis is from the 1980s to 2012 in China, studying the development process of China's barrier-free design standards by comparing the two barrier-free design standards implemented in the history of such design. In this paper, the two standards are compared and analyzed in the following aspects, which are the numbering, chapters, scope of application, applicable objects and purposes, and so on. Compared with the 2001 barrier-free design standards, the 2012 one can be concluded that the development of barrier-free design in China has been accelerated, the scope of application has been widened than before, the content has been supplemented, and restrictions on terms have been reduced.

  • This study intends to examine the changes found in the unit floor plans of the apartments built in Beijing from 1979 to 2018. For the 3 - bedroom type apartments, 40 unit floor plans were collected, and the changes of integration values of each space were analyzed periodically in four phases. The unit floor plans are analyzed in the context of the Space Syntax Model and compared to the lifestyle and societal changes in China. The results of the study indicate the followings: As time went by, the living room and the dining room were separated from each other with the increasing area of the apartment unit floor plans. The function of the integrated living room was dispersed, and the integration of the living room and the dining room decreased with the change of time. In the third phase, the dining room occupied the center of the unit floor plans with the highest integration value; Chinese people prefer to place the kitchen in the relatively deep place in order to prevent oil and smoke caused by their cooking habits like stir-fry; The privacy of the master bedroom has been strengthened.
