A Study on Induced effect of Aggregate and Stone Sector with Input-Output Table (산업연관표를 이용한 골재 및 석재부문의 경제적 파급효과 분석연구)

  • This study analyzed the induced effects of the aggregate and stone sectors using the industry association table. First, the added value of the aggregate and stone sectors was summarized, and then the intermediate input structure and induced effect were analyzed. In terms of value-added structure, aggregate and stone showed a higher employee remuneration rate compared to the manufacturing industry, and a higher rate of operating surplus compared to other mining industries. The intermediate input structure summarizes the sector using aggregate and stone products as intermediate inputs and their input ratio. The proportion of the intermediate element input structure was confirmed. In addition, the main input sectors of ready-mixed concrete, the largest consumer of aggregate and stone, are also summarized. The production-inducing effect of aggregate and stone showed a higher influence coefficient than the sensitivity coefficient, confirming that they had a relatively large rear chain effect. The production inducement effect was reviewed by reconstructing the industry association table, and it was found to show a relative superiority in the influence coefficient, similar to the results derived according to the provisional classification of the Bank of Korea.

An Analysis of Mid-Course Correction Maneuvers according to Launch-Vehicle Dispersion in Earth-Moon Phasing-Loop Trajectory (지구-달 위상전이궤적에서 발사체 투입오차가 중간경로수정기동에 미치는 영향 분석)

  • Mid-course correction maneuvers (MCCMs) are necessary to correct the launch-vehicle dispersion to go to the Moon. There were 3 or 4 MCCMs needed for a direct transfer trajectory. But the strategy for MCCMs of the phasing-loop trajectory is different, because it has a longer trans-lunar trajectory than direct transfer does. An orbiter using a phasing-loop trajectory has several rotations of the Earth, so the orbiter has several good places, such as perigee and apogee, to correct the launch-vehicle dispersion. Although launch dispersion is relatively high, the launch vehicle is not as accurate as we expected. A good MCCM strategy can overcome the high dispersion by using small-magnitude correction maneuvers. This paper describes the phasing-loops sequence and strategy to correct high launch-vehicle dispersions.

Constructing an Energy-extended KLEM DB and Estimating the Nested CES Production Functions for Korea (한국 경제의 KLEM DB구축과 중첩 CES 생산함수 추정)

  • This study constructs an energy-extended KLEM DB of 35 Korean industries, and estimates the elasticities of substitution under various nesting structures of production technologies. Unlike most existing studies that employed only three inputs, K, L, and E, we applied a dual approach where non-energy intermediate input M is also incorporated as a production input. Our dual approach which extended that of van der Werf (2008)'s 3-input model successfully identified and estimated the multi-nested production functions. We provide the estimates of the elasticities of substitution among 4 different energy sources as well. Our estimation results would be used for energy-environment model building for Korea.

A Method for Estimating Input-output Tables with Disaggregated Sector (부문 분리된 산업연관표 추계방법)

  • In case of a specific sector being divided into sub-sectors, this study presents a process for estimating an input-output table, which is frequently used as basic data in fields of energy and environment economics. RAS method, which is universally used for this case, requires information on production, intermediate input sum, and intermediate demand sum for each sector in the new table. But in many cases, it is difficult to secure information on intermediate demand sum by sector. This study suggests a process for estimating a new input-output table without using information of intermediate demand sum in the case of sector separation, under the assumption that information of production value and intermediate input sum by sector are available. The key idea is that the values of many elements in the input-output table after disaggregation are the same as those in the table before disaggregation and that the sum of the elements after disaggregation, equals the values of the elements before disaggregation. The process of estimating the intemediate transaction matrix or the input coefficient matrix is presented by using these information instead of intermediate demand sum information. A small-scale simulation shows that the average error rate of the process proposed in this study is about 11.23% in estimating input coefficients, which is smaller than the 11.30% estimation error of RAS using the information of intermediate demand sum. However, since it is known in the literature that using additional information does not always improve estimation performance compared to not using it, additional research on various simulations is needed to apply the method of this study to reality.

  • From the respect of economics, environmental industry has not defined clearly since environmental services and goods are so broad to focus. Therefore many countries are using their own version of environmental industry. Hence analysis of environmental industry is very limited. In this thesis, based on the definition of Bureau Statistical Office in Korea, economic analysis for the industrial spill effect, production effect, value-added effect has been done by using 1995, 1998 I-O tables published from the Bank of Korea. Even if portion of production from environmental industry in Korea is quite low so far, forward and backward effect has quite impact on the whole industry and show strong intermediate goods.   • As service industry became more important, many of studies have been done on the role of service. Such studies has been researched focusing on the relationship between the service intensity in the economy and a country's productivity. Baumal(1967) suggested that service growth in economy would bring about decrease in productivity. However, the economy of developed countries encounter with the productivity growth as their economy grows, which phenomenon called Baumol's paradox. Oulton (1999, 2001) find out the reason of Baumol's paradox in a forward and backward chain effects. So, this paper is aimed at verifying the theory of Oulton (1999, 2001) for 13 OECD countries using panel data analysis. We find out that the intermediate knowledge-intensive service inputs cause a multifactor productivity growth.

  • 이 글에서는 우리나라 기계산업의 ICT(Information Communication Technology) 융합을 정의 분류하고, 이에 따른 대표적인 기술사례를 소개코자 한다. 또한 한국은행 산업 연관표를 활용하여 기계산업 중간투입에서의 IT 부문 비중을 의미하는 ICT 융합도(측정 평가 지표)를 제시하고, 변화 추이를 분석하였다. 아울러 기계산업 ICT 융합의 경제적 파급효과를 부가가치 유발효과의 관점에서 살펴보고 향후 기계산업의 기술방향을 제시코자 한다.

Removal of Geosmin by Combined Treatment of PAC and Intermediate Chlorination in the Conventional WTP (표준정수처리공정에서 분말활성탄과 중간염소를 이용한 지오스민 저감방안)

  • In this study, the effective treatment reducing geosmin and dosage of PAC was suggested when taste & odor compounds flow in. The removal efficiency of geosmin was evaluated with types of chlorination. In case of low geosmin concentration below 25 ng/L, removal efficiency of geosmin was estimated at 46% by combined treatment of pre and intermediate-chlorination. But, in the exclusive intermediate-chlorination treatment, removal efficiency of geosmin was increased to 57%. In the medium geosmin concentration (25~79 ng/L), removal efficiency of geosmin was estimated at 59% by combined treatment. But, in the exclusive intermediate-chlorination treatment, removal efficiency of geosmin was increased to 87%. When high geosmin concentration above 80 ng/L flows in, removal efficiency of geosmin was estimated at 69% by combined treatment. However, in the exclusive intermediate-chlorination treatment, removal efficiency of geosmin was increased to 95%. Then, the exclusive intermediate-chlorination has an important effect on removal of geosmin. After correlation of geosmin concentration and dosage of PAC was analyzed, the coefficient of determination was estimated at 0.96. And, the proper PAC dosage chart was proposed. Also, at a initial occurrence of geosmin, when the combined treatment by intermediate-chlorination and PAC was applied, particle-bound geosmin should be removed continuously. Finally, it is proved that the combined treatment was effective to remove the geosmin by threshold levels as well as to reduce the dosage of PAC.

A Study on the Technology Commercialization Process and Performance of Public Research Institutes in Korea using the Structural Equation Model (구조방정식 모형을 이용한 공공연구기관의 기술사업화 프로세스와 성과분석)

  • We have analyzed technology transfer and commercialization process and factors affecting the outcomes of technology commercialization of public research institutes in Korea. A technology commercialization process model was presented as an input, intermediate outcomes/capabilities, output (outcome) structure using the structural equation model. Input variables include R&D input, technology commercialization strategy/support, collaboration, social capital. The model also includes R&D capabilities and technology commercialization performance as intermediate variable and output variable respectively. The technology commercialization performance was measured as the number of technology transfer and spin-off. We conducted survey and 88 institutes responded. Empirical results show that R&D input influence R&D capabilities and R&D capabilities influence the output of technology transfer and commercialization. Collaboration activities and social capital also appear to have a positive effect on the output. However, the effect of strategy and support on the output appear to be not statistically significant.
