Effects of the Powder Preparation Method on the Magnetic Properties of Fe-based Amorphous Alloy Powder Cores (철계 비정질 합금 분말코아의 자기적 특성에 미치는 분말 제조방식의 영향)

  • In the fabrication process of Fe-based amorphous alloy powder cores by pulverization of the melt-spun ribbons and cold compaction, the effects of powder preparation method on the magnetic & electric properties, powder shapes and microstructure of cores have been investigated. The powder cores made by using rotor mill showed low effective permeability as compared to the cores prepared by ball milling. However the frequency dependence and quality factor properties were superior in the case of rotor-milling. Further the powders prepared by rotor mill had homogeneous and round shapes through strong shearing in the sieve ring, while the ball milled powders were inhomogeneous and relatively small. The lower permeability of the powder cores fabricated with rotor mill was considered to be due to the high internal stress occurred by very intensive shearing. Moreover the powder cores produced by rotor-milling showed lower core loss and good frequency dependence of effective permeability possibly due to the higher electrical insulation between magnetic particles. The dc bias property of the powder cores made by rotor-milling was better than the one by ball-milling.

  • When the lightning current is injected to the ground system of information and communication facilities, analysis of the transient potential rise in the ground system is one of main factors to effectively design the ground system. The performance of grounding systems is normally estimated with the grounding impedance and the transient potential rise which represents the electrical characteristics of the grounding system. The method for calculating the grounding impedance depending on the injection point of the lightning current was proposed. The delta-gap source model was proposed to calculate the grounding impedance in the case that the lightning current is injected to the center of the horizontal ground electrode. A new program which is possible to apply the frequency-dependent soil parameters using the Debye model was developed, because a commercial program for analyzing the performance of the grounding system can not apply to the frequency-dependent soil parameters. The experiment was carried out to confirm the availability of the simulation results with the same condition. Finally, the transient potential rises of a horizontal ground electrode depending on the lightning current waveforms were analyzed by using the results of the grounding impedance which is associated with the frequency-dependent soil parameters.

  • Surface photovoltage spectroscopy was used to study $In_{0.5}(Ga_{1-x}Al_x)_{0.5}P/GaAs$ grown by metalorganic chemical vapor deposition(MOCVD). Energy gap related transition in GaAs and $In_{0.5}(Ga_{1-x}Al_x)_{0.5}P$ were observed. By measuring the frequency dependence of $In_{0.5}(Ga_{1-x}Al_x)_{0.5}P/GaAs$, we observed that SPV line shape does not chance, whereas the amplitude change. This results is due to the difference in the lifetimes of the photocarriers in GaAs and in $In_{0.5}(Ga_{1-x}Al_x)_{0.5}P$. We also have evaluated the parameters that describe the temperature dependences of the band gap.

Effects of Heavy Metal and Salinity on Electrical Conductivity in Fully Saturated Sand (포화된 사질토의 전기전도도에 중금속과 염분 농도가 미치는 영향)

  • As the electrical property of fully saturated soils is dependent on the pore water, it has been commonly used for the detection of the contamination into the ground. The objective of this study is to investigate the electrical characteristics according to the salinity and the lead concentration in fully saturated soils. Fresh water and saline water with the salinity of 1%, 2% and 3%, which are mixed with 6 different lead solutions with the range of 0~10 mg/L, are prepared in the cylindrical cell incorporated with sensors for measuring electrical resistance and time domain reflectometry signal. Then, the dried sands are water-pluviated into the cell. The electrical resistance and the time domain reflectometry signal are used to estimate the electrical conductivity. Test results show that electrical conductivity determined from electrical resistance at the frequency of 1 kHz continuously increases with an increase in the lead concentration, thus it may be used for the estimation of the contaminant level. In addition, the electrical conductivity estimated by the time domain reflectometry changes even at very low concentration of lead, the variation rate decreases as the lead concentration increases. Thus, the time domain reflectometry can be used for the investigation of the heavy metal leakage. This study demonstrates that complementary characteristics of electrical resistance and time domain reflectometry may be used for the detection of the leakage and contamination of heavy metal in coastal and marine environments.

  • 초음파를 이용하여 액체 연료를 분사하면 균일한 입경과 미립화가 우수하며 에너지 절약과 공해방지등을 할 수 있다. 또한 유속과 유량에 관계없이 이용할 수 있어 반도체 분야의 웨이퍼와 평판 표시기상에 사진 석판용 화학물질의 균일도포 컴퓨터 하드 디스크의 광택제 도포등에 사용할 수 있다. 이처럼 초저의 유출 용량을 요구하는 모든 공정 및 액체연료의 분사가 요구되는 모든 산업에 적용할 수 있는 장점을 가지고 있다. 하지만 현제까지 주로 사용되고 있는 초음파노즐의 액츄에이터는 단판액츄에이터형로 높은 교류전압을 인가해주어야 하는 단점을 가지고 있다. 이 단점을 해결하기 위해 적층액츄에이터형을 사용하여 초음파 노즐 구동하면 낮은 교류 입력전압에서도 단판액츄에이터형 초음파 노즐과 같은 특성을 가질 수 있다. 또한 초음파 노즐의 구동시 기계적인 진동을 이용하므로 많은 열을 발생시켜 노즐의 온도가 상승하여 세라믹 액츄에이터에도 그 영향을 미치게 되어 열적 열화 현상이 일어날 수 있기에 높은 큐리온도를 가지는 액츄에이터가 필요하다. 본 실험에서는 $Pb(Mn_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})_{0.02}(Ni_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})_{0.12}(Zr_{0.50}Ti_{0.50})_{0.86}O_3$ 조성을 사용하여 $900^{\circ}C$의 저온에서 액상 소결하여 적층혈액츄에이터를 제작하였으며 압전 및 유전 특성을 조사하였다. 제작된 초음파노즐을 구동하기 위해서는 약 36kHz의 30V이상의 교류입력전압 할 수 있는 구동회로가 필요로 한다. 압전액츄에이터의 구동을 위해서는 정확한 정현파 입력이 필요 없다. 압전액츄에이터의 특성상 유사 정현파 입력 만으로도 임피던스 매칭이 이루어지기 때문에 설계가 쉽고 간편한 Push-Pull 방식을 이용한 PWM인버터를 사용하였고 인버터의 출력 주파수를 34~38kHz까지 가변 할 수 있게 설계하였다. 제작된 적층액츄에이터형 초음파 노즐을 PWM인버터로 실제 액체 연료인 경유를 분사하였을 때의 액츄에이터의 온도 변화에 따른 공진주파수와 온도 의존성, 전기적 특성을 조사하고 미립화 분사되는 경유의 미립자 크기 및 최대 분사량을 조사 하였다.

Estimation of Characteristics Change on Transverse Mode PZT Vibrator Under Space Environment (우주환경하에서 횡진동 모드 PZT진동자의 특성변화 예측)

  • The temperature dependence of the characteristics in a PZT-5 piezoelectric ceramic vibrator with the transverse mode was investigated in the range of $-100^{\circ}C$ to $90^{\circ}C$ using a thermal vacuum chamber to utilize the vibrator in aerospace industries. As the results, at room temperature, the resonant and anti-resonant frequencies had the minimum value, whereas, the dielectric constant increased linearly from about 2500 to 7500 in the given temperature range. The mechanical loss decreased linearly from 0.08 to 0.03. Through the regression analysis, the temperature dependence functions of the characteristics were derived to linear and square regression functions. Applying the functions, the input admittance characteristics of the piezoelectric vibrator were calculated, and the results showed good agreement with measured ones. It can be confirmed that this method is useful to estimate the characteristics change of the piezoelectric vibrator caused by the temperature change under the space environment.

Dielectric Properties in Na2O-B2O3-SiO2 Glass Containing CoO (CoO를 함유한 Na2O-B2O3-SiO2 계 유리의 유전적 특성)

  • Sodium borate silicate glass of composition $10Na_2O-39B_2O_3-50SiO_2-CoO$ and $20Na_2O-14B_2O_3-65SiO_2-CoO$ were prepared by melting oxide mixtures in alumina crucible at $1210^{\circ}C$ in an electric furance in air for 2h, and then quenching in air. The dielectric behavior of the quenched glasses are the subject of the present work. Properties such as dielectric constant and resistivity as a function frequency and temperature are reported. From the dielectric spectra, the glass phase transition temperature has been found to decrease at a rate $Na_2O$ 20 mol% and the dielectric constants increase with increasing $Na_2O$ content. The frequency dependent resistivity response of glass exhibits a non-Debye type relaxation.

Parametric Analysis of the Electric and Magnetic Field Waveforms Produced by Intracloud Lightning Discharges (운방전에 의해 발생한 전계와 자계 파형의 파라미터 분석)

  • In this study, the electric and magnetic fields measuring system were designed and fabricated to investigate the electric characteristics of lightning discharges. Frequency bandwidth of electric field measuring system ranges from 40[Hz] to 2.6[MHz] and its response characteristic is 2.1[(V/m)/mV]. Frequency bandwidth of magnetic field measuring system ranges from 300[Hz] to 1[MHz] and its response characteristic is 2.8[nT/mV]. Electric and magnetic fields due to intracloud lightning discharges were observed and their waveform parameters were statistically analyzed. As a result, waveform parameters of electric and magnetic fields are nearly independent of polarity. The mean rise times and the zero-crossing times of electric and magnetic fields are approximately $5.5[{\mu}s]\;and\;21[{\mu}s]$, respectively.

  • This research aims at developing a new method which can replace the existing method. known as the quality factor(Q factor) method by an L-R-C test for use in the performance test of inductive loop detectors(ILD) being installed and maintained. In this study, a sensor to detect a magnetic field in terms of frequency and intensity, a method to collect field data, the method of analysis, and the method of diagnosis were developed. An automatic diagnosis system which was developed to overcome those drawbacks has the following features : First, field data is collected automatically by a test vehicle equipped with magnetic field sensors that is running can be said to along the roadway and. thus, the new system completely overcome the roadway and, thus, the new system can be said to completely overcome the inefficiency of the existing method second, since the magnetic fold generated from the ILD is the final output of the whole system of ILD, the existing problem has been solved. third. since each of the detection area by height is collected by the magnetic sensors installed by height. a basic for the identification of the vehicle types to be detectable and the setting of adjustment factors has been made. For the automatic diagnosis system developed during in this study, a reliability test was carried out by comparing vehicle times of ILD installed ideally.

Magnetic Properties of NixFe100-x(x=40~50) Permalloy Powders and Dust Cores Prepared by Gas-Atomization (가스 분무법으로 제조된 NixFe100-x(x=40~50) 퍼멀로이 분말 및 압분 코아의 자기적 특성)

  • We investigated the magnetic properties of High Flux-type $Ni_{x}Fe_{100-x}$(x=40∼50, wt.%) permalloy powders and dust cores. The powder was prepared by conventional gas atomization in mass production scale. At the composition of $Ni_{x}Fe_{55}$, saturation magnetization was maximum. In case of lower Ni content than X=45, the $M_{s}$, decreased largely with the decrease in Ni content, which is due to the invar effect. The permeability of compressed powder cores increased with the decrease in Ni content, which was considered to be due to the decrease in the magnetostriction. In addition, the dust core with Ni=45% showed the lowest core loss because of the increase in electrical resistivity leading to the low eddy current loss. From the better frequency dependence of permeability, larger Q value and superior DC bias characteristics of Ni=45% than those of Ni=50% core, it was confirmed that the 45%Ni-55%Fe powder alloy was better material for the dust core than commercial High Flux core materials.
