A Study on the Vibration Characteristics of Thin Plate with Crack under Tension using ESPI (ESPI기법에 의한 하중을 받는 균열 박판의 진동 특성에 관한 연구)

  • This paper presents the vibration characteristics of a rectangular plate with $45^{\circ}$ oblique crack subjected to a uniaxial tension. The experiment is adopted by the time-average Electronic Speckle Pattern Interferometry(ESPI) method. The natural frequency and mode shape are considered accurately according to the increase of tensile load. When tensile load is zero, the vibration modes we agreed with the smooth and the $45^{\circ}$ obliquely cracked plate. But according to the increasement of load it is shown that vibration modes are extremely varied. The effects of the crack under the vibration are discussed in detail. It is indicated that the increase of load makes the variation of the frequencies and modes complicate in the range of even a small load. The results are agreed with the FEM analysis within 5%.

The Influence of 'Qi Energy Healing' On Control of Autonomic Nervous System (기치유가 자율신경계의 조절능력에 미치는 영향)

  • This paper demonstrates that 'Qi Energy Healing' effects on elevation of capabilities in regards with the autonomic nervous system which prevents from the stress. Nineteen participants were assigned into 'Qi Energy Healing' and the 'Ordinary Relaxation' condition. Participants were examined to see the difference of frequency domain analysis, heart rate tachogram, physical resistance through the heart rate variability. The 'Qi Energy Healing' is significantly more likely to influence on reducing and diminishing the stress. 'Qi Energy Healing' treatment showed clear distinction on 6 fact. Our findings established the link between effectiveness of 'Qi Energy Healing' and the autonomic nervous system.

Humidity Sensor Using Microstrip Patch Antenna (마이크로스트립 패치 안테나를 이용한 습도 센서)

  • In this paper, a humidity sensor using a microstrip patch antenna(MPA) and polyvinyl alcohol(PVA) is studied. PVA is a polymer material whose permittivity changes with humidity, and a rectangular slot is added to the radiating edge of the MPA, which is sensitive to changes in electric field, in order to increase the sensitivity to changes in relative permittivity. After thinly coating the area around the radiating edge with the rectangular slot of the MPA fabricated on a 0.76 mm-thick RF-35 substrate with PVA, the changes in the resonant frequency and magnitude of the MPA's input reflection coefficient are measured when relative humidity is adjusted from 40% to 80% in 10% increments at a temperature of 25 degrees using a temperature and humidity chamber. Experiment results show that when the relative humidity increases from 40% to 80%, the resonance frequency of the antenna' input reflection coefficient decreases from 2.447 GHz to 2.418 GHz, whereas the magnitude increases from -7.112 dB to -3.428 dB.

Synchronization performance optimization using adaptive bandwidth filter and average power controller over DTV system (DTV시스템에서 평균 파워 조절기와 추정 옵셋 변화율에 따른 대역폭 조절 필터를 이용한 동기 성능 최적화)

  • To recover transmitted signal perfectly at DTV receiver, we have to acquire carrier frequency synchronization to compensate pilot signal which located in wrong position and rotated phase. Also, we need a symbol timing synchronization to compensate sampling timing error. Conventionally, to synchronize symbol timing, we use Gardner's scheme which used in multi-level signal. Gardner's scheme is well known for its sampling the timing error signal from every symbol and it makes easy to detect and keep timing sync in multi-path channel. In this paper, to discuss the problem when the received power level is out of range and we cannot get synchronization information. With this problem, we use 2 step procedures. First, we put a received signal power compensation block before Garder's timing error detector. Second, adaptive loop filter to get a fast synchronization information and averaging loop filter's output value to reduce the amount of jitter after synchronization in PLL(Phased Locked Loop) circuit which is used to get a carrier frequency synchronization and symbol timing synchronization. Using the averaging value, we can estimate offset. Based on offset changing ratio, we can adapt adaptive loop filter to carrier frequency and symbol timing synchronization circuit.

High Sensitive Strain Detection of FeCoSiB Amorphous Films (아몰퍼스 FeCoSiB 박막의 고감도 스트레인 검출특성)

  • Amorphous FeCoSiB films with high saturation magnetostriction and excellent soft magnetic properties have been studied to evaluate their strain sensitivity. Films were subjected to a strain by bending of their substrates, which caused a change in the magnetic anisotropy of films via magnetoelastic coupling. Films were exhibited a figure of merit $F=({\Delta}{\mu}/{\mu})/{\varepsilon}$ (change in film permeability $\mu$ per unit strain $\varepsilon$) of $1.2{\times}10^5$, which is comparable with that of amorphous ribbons. To make a study of application of magnetostrictive films as strain sensor elements, we have prepared a micro-patterned film by means of the photolithography and ion milling processes. Impedance change in the patterned films, when strain was applied, was measured over the frequency range from 1 MHz to 1 GHz. Reflecting a large value of figure of merit F, a variation of 46% impedance of films was shown at 100 MHz frequency when a strain of $300{\times}10^{-6}$ was applied.

  • In this paper, each electrical length and harmonics of the multi-stage SIR are calculated by using the input impedance for the variable application of SIR in the microwave systems. The size reduced ratio of the SIR is slightly reduced as increasing of the number of stage. The impedance ratio between lower and higher impedance of the SIR has the dominant effect on the size reduced ratio and harmonic characteristics. Also the equivalent impedance of the SIR is a geometric mean between lower and higher impedance and the quality factor of the SIR is similar to the half-wavelength resonator's.

A Study of QMSA Characteristics According to the Gap Variance between Ground Plane and Radiation Patch (접지판과 방사 패치 사이의 간격 변화에 따른 QMSA의 특성 연구)

  • In this paper, we designed and fabricated QMSA(Quarter-Wavelength Microstrip Antenna) for 850MHz band on the CGP-500 PTFE substrate(by CHUKOH company) with ε/sub r/=2.6, H=1.6mm(±0.08), where width of the radiation patch is .identical with that of the ground plane. A well matched feed point was obtained by experiments and this QMSA was fed by using prove feed method. The resonant frequencies and the return losses were mcasured by cutting the gap L₃ between the radiation patch and the ground plane, with a 5mm cutting length, step by step. As a result, we found that the measured return losses were decreased and the resonant frequencies were increased when the gap L₃ was shorter, especially under 10mm, unlike we had expected.

  • We propose a new watermarking method to embed a label in a video which is robust against the change of the group of picture. The proposed method embeds labels in the pixel domain, but detects the label in the DCT frequency domain. For embedding a label, the size of watermark based on the human visual system is calculated to keep a quality of videos. A lookup table haying the pixel patterns and the sequences of a sign of DCT coefficients is used for detecting a label in the DCT frequency domain. In this paper, we analyze bit error rates for labels of videos compressed by MPEG2 using the central limit theorem and compare the simulation results with previous methods.

Analysis and Design of Branch Line Coupler using Microstrip Lines with Overlay (덮개층이 있는 마이크로스트립 선로를 이용한 브랜치 선로 결합기 해석 및 설계)

  • A method of miniaturizing branch line coupler is presented. The method utilizes the microstrip line with overlay(or superstrate). The frequency dependent characteristics, dispersion and characteristic impedance, of this line are obtained by Immitance method in spectral domain and Method of Line. The relevant spectral domain Green's function is given and used to obtain numerical results. The branch line couplers with overlays are designed and fabricated at 2 GHz. The experimental results show that the size of coupler with overlay(${epsilon}_r$=10.2) is 31.4 precent smaller than conventional coupler. This minimized coupler is suitable for Butler Matrix as feeder for mobile communication beam forming antenna.

  • Power systems must be operated within limits that will ensure adequate generation and transmission capacity to avoid cascading. In developing a set of operations limits, it is important to do so within a general framework in order to ensure that the operating objectives are met. In the this regard, when the system experiences a generation-load imbalance, the principles of sound operation will be maintained by bringing under control an unscheduled power flow condition as quickly as possible. This paper presents load shedding application which responds both to frequency and to rate of change of frequency. Its application is in the operating situation of load suddenly in excess of generation, either because of generator or other equipment failure. A scheme which is able to utilize rate of change of frequency as well as frequency itself is an improvement over existing scheme.
