Design and Estimation of a Spindle System for Centerless Grinding Machine (무심연삭기 주축계의 설계 및 성능평가)

  • Design and estimation of a spindle system which was composed of grinding spindle and regulating spindle for the centerless grinding of ferrule was performed and prototypes of each spindle were manufactured. Loop stiffness of the spindle system was 130 N/${\mu}m$. Although the value was lower than the target value of 150 N/${\mu}m$, as there included 20% of the safety factor, it was enough to machine the ferrule. Rotational accuracies of each spindle were about 0.2${\mu}m$ at the primary speed of 2,300 rpm(grinding spindle) and 300 rpm(regulating spindle). Temperature rises at the same speed were about $4.4\;\~\;4.7^{\circ}C$ in the case of grinding spindle and $1.8^{\circ}C$in the case of regulating spindle, which were well agreed with the designed value. From these results, it was estimated that the prototype of spindle system had a enough performances for the centerless grinding machine to machine the ferrule.

  • This paper presents analysis of dynamic characteristics of a high-speed milling spindle with a drawbar and a built-in motor. The spindle system with a built-in motor can be used to simplify the structure of machine tools, to improve the machining flexibility of machine tools, and to perform the high speed machining. In this system the shaft is usually assumed as a rigid rotor. In this paper, the modal characteristics of drawbar in high-speed milling spindle system due to supporting stiffness between drawbar and shaft and considering the mass and stiffness effects of the built-in motor's rotor are analyzed by numerical method. The result shows enough stiff supports must be provided between shaft and drawbar to prevent occurring drawbar vibration lower than the natural frequency of 1st bending mode of spindle. And considering the mass and stiffness of built-in motor's rotor is important thing to derive more accurate results.

  • Design and performance evaluation of a spindle system which was composed of a grinding spindle and a regulating spindle for the centerless grinding of ferrule were performed in this paper. Layout and details of spindle system were designed and hydrostatic bearings for spindles were also designed. Prototype of spindle system was developed and its availabilities to machine the ferrule were discussed using the experimental results on the spindle stiffness of each spindle, loop stiffness, rotational accuracy and thermal characteristics. Loop stiffness of the spindle system was $130\;N/{\mu}m$, which was enough to machine the ferrule.   • Prediction performances by Einstein's equation of diffusivity, Peskin's model, Three-Equation model, Four-Equation model and Algebraic Stress Model, have been compared by analyzing twophase (air-solid) turbulent jet flow. Turbulent kinetic energy equation of dispersed phase was solved to investigate effects of turbulent kinetic energy on turbulent diffusivity. Turbulent kinetic energy dissipation rate of particles has been considered by solving turbulent kinetic energy dissipation rate equation of dispersed phase and applying it to turbulent diffusivity of dispersed phase. Results show that turbulent diffusivity of dispersed phase can be expressed by turbulent kinetic energy ratio between phases and prediction of turbulent kinetic energy was improved by considering turbulent kinetic energy dissipation rate of dispersed phase for modelling turbulent diffusivity. This investigation also show that Algebraic Stress Model is the most promising method in analyzing gas-solid two phases turbulent flow.

  • 최근 전자 및 광학분야에 있어서의 눈부신 발전은 비구면 가공기나 초정밀 연삭기와 같은 초정밀 가공기계의 개발과 실용화에 힘입은 바 크다. 이러한 초정밀 가공기의 성능을 좌우하는 핵심요소로서 주축계를 들 수 있으며, 비교적 소형 경량의 공작물을 가공하는 기계의 주축용 베어링으로는 오일 베어링을 대신하여 공기베어링이 점차 널리 사용되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 점급기원의 가정하에 직접수치해법을 사용하는 해석 프로그램을 작성하여, 무차원화된 설게 변수들에 대한 외부가압 공기베어링의 정$\cdot$동특성수들을 구하고, 여기서 구해진 베어링의 정$\cdot$동특성수를 사용하여 베어리으이 공기막 반력을 계산한 후, 축중심 궤적의 비선형 해석을 수행함으로써 주축 회전 정도를 예측하고자 한다.

  • This paper introduces that the lathe optimize for main and sub spindle's synchronous in Opening-CNC. In view of optimal design, the mathematical modelling and the frequency domain analysis of spindle's system are performed. For the compensation of synchronous error in compounded manufacture process, the optimization method of motor drive's control parameter and the related parameter is proposed. By the experiment in prototype machines using the server/client program, the validity of the proposed method is verified.

  • The thermal deformation of a machine tool spindle influences the performance of the manufacturing systems for precision products. In this research, thermal analysis of a high speed machine tool spindle with the rolling bearing and the built-in motor is carried out by using Finite Difference Method. The thermal boundary conditions describing the heat generation in the bearing and built-in motor are considered in the simulation. And various convective boundary conditions are assumed with the empirical formula in the references. From the simulation results, the characteristics of each element affecting the dynamic thermal behaviour of the machine tool spindle system have been clarified. Therefore, this model can be well applied to the future development of the high speed spindle systems.

  • Unsteady-state temperature distributions for spindle system with built-in motor according to spindle type are studied. For the analysis, three dimensional model is built considering heat transfer characteristics such as natural and forced convection coefficients. Temperature distributions are analyzed by using the finite element method. Results of analysis are compared.

  • Cooling characteristics of cooling jacket for spindle system with built-in motor are studied. For the analysis, three dimensional model for the cooling jacket is built by using finite volume method. The three dimensional model includes the estimation on the amount of heat generation of bearing and built-in motor and the thermal characteristic values such as heat flux on the boundary. Numerical results show that flow rate are important factors for cooling characteristics of cooling jacket.
