Recently, as people have more interest in health, and some change takes place in their lifestyles, a demand for environment-friendly residential space is also increasing. Research on the introduction of natural elements is mostly conducted for humans to pursue a more pleasant and comfortable life in residential space since it has one of the closest relation with humans. Therefore, it is such an important assignment at present when environmental problems are considered significant. Based on such a necessity, this study analyzed the introduction types and characteristics of natural elements in residential space by considering essential and psychological aspects more than previous researches on residential space with practical and functional aspects. As natural elements, this study put limits on plants and water that are used a lot in the interior space, and by dividing introduction types into recomposition of courtyard space, spatial partition and decorative elements, this study carried out a case analysis of residential space structures recently completed in Japan. As a basic research on space planning that is desperately required by change in the residential life paradigm and on the basis of understanding about nature, it is expected that the results of this study will be used as design basic data useful when establishing plans of introducing natural elements for residential space in the future.

Due to the increasing social participation of women and the decrease in the size of the typical family, childre's environments have become increasingly more important. In fact, children are one of the main groups who use the community environments. However, children as a group have not been considered in the planning of residential neighborhood environments. A child's spiritual, psychological and physical health develops upon their interaction with the surrounding environment. Residential community should therefore be planned in a child-friendly way. The aim of this study is to introduce possible criteria for developing design guidelines for Children-friendly residential environments. The principal objective is to investigate the actual conditions of children's lifestyles in residential environments and the exploration of design guidelines for children. In this study, a small group workshop panel method was used. The subjects were 4 panel groups which was consisted of households with children. Each of the panel included 2 consecutive workshops. In this study, a list of valuable criteria for design guidelines was identified. In addition, the current residential community environment was found to be inadequate to accommodate for children's lifestyles and children had different housing needs according to their ages. In conclusion, the design guidelines should be developed to provide children with developmentally appropriate community environments.

The number of household living alone including young single adults has gradually increased. The purpose of this study is to examine the demand on housing options, additional space, shared space, community facilities, housing service for young adults living alone including college students. A total of 180 questionnaire were collected and analyzed. For housing location, commuting distance is the most important feature and amenities are the second important feature. For additional space, there is a significant difference between male and female single residents. Female residents want to install dress room most while male adults want to have a study room. For the shared house option, single adults concerns housing fee and living cost most. However, female adults concern safety and security issues much more than male ones do. The degree of preference to community facilities varies between male and female single residents. The findings suggest more differentiated approaches are needed for alternative housing options for male and female residents.

This study aims to examine the comprehensive and diversified meanings of emotional design through the literatures analysis, and to redefine the emotional design based a variety of standpoints according to the researchers and philosophical discussions up to this time. In addition, this study tries to analyze the features of the emotional design in space design by analyzing the cases in which the current emotional design is applied to the actual space based on the various kinds of studies on emotion. The analysis result is to be revised and complemented with the verification of the preceding researchers and experts on the emotional design. And this study also presents the designs of living space by taking advantage of the analyzed features of the emotional design.

핵 가족화, 고령화가 가속화되고 도시 독거노인 및 독신인구가 급증합에 따라, 외로움과 소외감을 극복하고 또 다른 형태의 가족적 유대감을 얻기 위하여 반려동물, 반려인들이 날로 증가하고 있다. 반려동물 문화는 급격히 발전하고 있는데 반해, 이를 지탱할 수 있는 사회나 문화적 의식과 공공 기반시설의 질적수준은 초기 단계수준이다. 반려견 소유자와 일반인들 사이에 갈등이 발생하여 관련 제도나 법에 대해 논란이 되고 있다. 갈등과 논란을 해소하며 반려동물 문화 발전에 기여하고자 본 연구는 도시 내 반려인 전용 주거 시설의 개념과 역할, 공동 주거 시설로서의 사회적 필요성을 고찰하고, 새로운 공동 집합 주거 공간의 방향을 제안한다.

Hoe beak village (Donggu manseokdong, Akasaki Village) is the oldest slums in Incheon. Recently, 'Mixed residential environment improvement project' is being promoted as Aboriginal entire resettlement goals in place of 'new building reconstruction and redevelopment projects' knock down everything this hoe beak village existed already. Resident representatives meeting configuration goes, but still do business magazine in the right direction. Therefore, in this study, the proposed architectural solutions to meet the demand of residents on the research problems, performed in a manner that the local improved hoe Buri village residential environment improvement projects and analyze the current situation and characteristics. In this study, the following improvements are presented. Prepare guidelines and maintain design guidelines for maintaining the identity of the village, Improve continuous landscape of the village, Construction of mixed-use sanitation facilities, Using a mini-lot and Vacant for Ssamzie Park Development, Units of housing types for Shared housing and co-operation are proposed.

The purpose of this study was to investigate housing situation and residential satisfaction of foreigners in Korea, and to identify influential factors for housing satisfaction. A questionnaire survey was conducted to 132 foreigners who reside in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do. Most of the respondents were Chinese and the average age was 45.7. Over 90% of the respondents lived in a rented house and detached house was the most popular type of house. Overall score of residential satisfaction was 3.43 and it was above average. However, scores for parking lot, housing deterioration, and space planning showed the lowest level of satisfaction. Factor analysis was used to summarize the variables related to residential satisfaction and 5 factors -'space planning and organization,' 'amenities & equipment', 'community facilities,' 'near environment' and 'housing expenses'- were drawn. Among those, 'space planning and organization' was the most influential factor to residential satisfaction as the result of multiple regression analysis.

In the late twentieth century, the multistory housing has become the most preferred housing type. Moreover, in multistory housing design, not only interior design but also exterior design, uniqueness and characteristic have been added as significant factors in design to break simplicity and uniformity. The purpose of this study is to understand the tendency of the elevation design in Europe and to suggest the idea for elevation design for domestic. Also, each elements of elevation were analyzed through classification and schematization which categorized by its own characteristic. Design elements can be classified into three categories. They are corresponding with inner spaces, emphasizing visual expression of exterior material and texture, and presenting aesthetic factors of building shape. Those are named as the Spatial Externalization, the Visual Expression, and the Expression of Building Shape. In this frame nineteen elevations of sixteen different cases were analysed. As a result of case studies, it is clear that elevation designs were not standardized and each cases has its own characteristics. Also it showed how the each design elements can be coordinated as a total design and how they expressed identities of each housing. This study could contribute to motivate diversifying the design of multistory housing.
