Development of Warrant for Scrambled Pedestrian Crossing (대각선 횡단보도의 정량적 설치기준에 관한 연구)

  • 본 연구는 대각선 횡단보도의 정량적 설치기준을 정립하기 위하여 이상적인 조건에서의 교차로 각현시별 임계차선 교통량의 합($\sum_i$ CVi)을 600~1,800대로 변화를 주어 실험적 시뮬레이션 방법을 적용하였다. TRANSTY-7F 모형을 이용한 교차로 평균차량 지체도와 본 연구에서 정립한 보행지체모형을 이용한 교차로 평균 보행지체도와의 관계를 변수로 하여 대각선 횡단보도의 정량적 설치기준을 각 조건별로 산정한 결과 다음과 같은 결론이 도출되었다. 첫째, 동시신호시 교통량과 보행량의 비율이 1:1일 경우 대각횡단비율 20~40%에서는 $\sum_i$ CVi=1,050~1,150대 이하에서 대각선 횡단보도를 설치시 지체도 감소에 대한 편익을 얻을 수 있다. 둘째, 동시신호시 교통량과 보행량의 비율이 1:2일 경우 대각횡단비율 20~40%에서는 $\sum_i$ CVi=1,150~1,200대 이하에서 대각선 횡단보도를 설치시 지체도 감소에 대한 편익을 얻을 수 있다. 셋째, 선행 좌회전신호시 교통량과 보행량의 비율이 1:1일 경우 대각횡단비율 20~40%에서는 $\sum_i$ CVi=600~750대 이하에서 대각선 횡단보도를 설치시 지체도 감소에 대한 편익을 얻을 수 있다. 넷째, 선행 좌회전신호시 교통량과 보행량의 비율이 1:2일 겨우 대각횡단비율 20~40%에서는 $\sum_i$ CVi=750~900대 이하에서 대각선 횡단보도를 설치시 지체도 감소에 대한 편익을 얻을 수 있다.

Evaluation of Mobility and Safety of Operating an Overlap Phase on a Shared-Left-Turn Lane Using a Microscopic Traffic Simulation Model (미시교통시뮬레이션모형을 이용한 공용 좌회전 차로의 중첩현시운영의 이동성과 안전성 평가 연구)

  • Government agencies including the national police agency have executed diverse efforts including continuous improvements of traffic facilities and operation methods, education, enforcements in order to improve traffic operation systems; nevertheless there have been continuous criticisms on irrationality in traffic signal and road facility operation. One of the reasons may be the lack of systematic preliminary evaluations on various alternatives. However, there was no appropriate tool to evaluate the mobility and safety of thus alternatives in a systematic way. Therefore, this study proposes the systematic use of microscopic traffic simulation models as a comprehensive evaluation tool. In addition, this study verified the potential of using a microscopic traffic simulation model using the case of operating an overlap phase on a shared-left-turn lane through a systematic way where the evaluation was conducted through data collection, building networks, calibrating microscopic simulation models, producing performance measures, evaluating mobility and safety, and so on. As a result, the operation of overlap phase on a shared-left-turn lane showed no big difference from other operation scenarios such as leading left-turn on exclusive left turn lane in terms of mobility. However the operation of overlap phase on a shared-left-turn lane decreased safety by increasing potential conflicts.

Assessment of Bicycle Left-turn Traffic Control Strategies at Signalized Intersections (신호교차로의 자전거 좌회전 운영방안 평가에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, three signal control strategies such as Bike box, Hook-turn, and 6-phase were assessed for various traffic conditions at signalized intersections incorporating bicycle left-turn traffic. Results showed that the size of a waiting zone mainly affected the performance of signal control in both Bike box and Hook-turn. Both Bike box and Hook-turn yielded an identical vehicle delay, but Bike box produced less bicycle delay than Hook-turn by 2.5~29.9 sec/veh for undersaturated traffic conditions. For saturated traffic condition, Bike box produced less vehicle delay than Hook-turn and 6-phase strategies, but bicycle delay was found to increase at the 700 vph of bicycle traffic compared to 6-phase. Bicycle delay was greatly increased under Hook-turn and Bike box strategies when bicycle traffic was greater than 300 vph and 500 vph, respectively. It was also shown that bicycle delay could be significantly reduced by providing appropriate size of queueing space. In addition, Bike box was likely to yield less vehicle and bicycle delay than Hook-turn for traffic volume patterns investigated in this study.

Development of a Modified Vine Building Shortest Path Algorithm for ATIS (ATIS를 위한 수정형 덩굴망 최단경로 탐색 알고리즘의 개발)

  • 건설된 도로를 효율적으로 이용하고, 통행자의 편리성을 향상시키기 위해 첨단 여행자 정보체계(ATIS)를 활용할 수 있다. ATIS 체계하에서 노선정보를 통행자에게 제공하기 위해서는 교차로에서의 회전으로 인한 지체를 정확하게 반영할 수 있는 효율적인 최단경로 알고리즘이 필요하다. 하지만 기존의 최단경로탐색 알고리즘은 좌회전 금지, U-turn, P-turn 등 교차로에서의 회전으로 인한 지체를 정확히 반영 못한다는 단점을 갖고 있다. 그러므로 본 논문에서는 이러한 단점을 극복하기 위해 수정형 덩굴망 알고리즘을 재발하였다. 수정형 덩굴망 알고리즘은 노드표지(node labelling) 방법에 있어서는 기존의 덩굴망 알고리즘의 노드표지 방법과 개념적으로 동일하여 이용상의 편리성을 갖도록 하였으며, 최단경로 탐색기능에 있어서는 링크탐색알고리즘(혹은 링크표지기법)이 갖고 있는 장잠을 다 반영할 수 있는 기법으로 개발하였다. 수정형 덩굴망 알고리즘은 노드표지에 있어 특정 노드로 유입하는 방향에 따라 노드표지를 별도로 기록하였다. 따라서 교차로에서의 좌회전, 우회전 및 직진은 물론 U-turn의 경우에도 추가적인 절차 없이 현실적인 최단 경로를 탐색할 수 있도록 하였다. 또한 본 논문은 최단경로의 역추적 방법을 개선하여 좌회전 금지, U-turn, P-turn 및 기타 회전에 의한 지체등을 각 교차로마다 정확히 반영함으로써 비합리적인 최단경로가 추적되는 것을 근본적으로 차단하도록 하였다. 따라서 본 연구에서 개발한 수정형 덩굴망 최단경로탐색 알고리즘은 교차로에서의 회전지체 및 회전금지를 현실적으로 잘 반영함으로써 정확한 노선정보를 요구하는 ATIS체계를 분석하는데 유용하게 활용될 수 있는 기법이다.장자료를 통해 구하기란 현실적으로 불가능하므로, 본 연구에서는 이러한 제약점을 극복할 수 있는 근사적인 지체시간을 계산하는 방법을 제시한 점에서 의미를 갖을 수 있다.수들은 직업의 선택이나 소득을 예측하기 위한 요소들로 포함될 수 없었다. 따라서 후속연구에서는 이를 보완해야 할 것이며, 최근 들어 우리 나라에서도 재택근무에 대한 관심이 대두되고 있으나 아직 개념정의나 그 중요성과 가치, 그리고 실태 파악과 같은 연구가 활발히 이루어지지 못하고 있으므로 이에 대한 심층적인 연구가 행해져야 할 것이다.d similar flower proceeding dates in all branches. but "Daepung" showed similar flower proceeding dates in all branches.est in HB. Carbon Reduction Effect of Traffic Operational Methods Itemized in National Project for Advanced Traffic Operation and Management (교통운영체계선진화의 탄소감축 효과 연구)

  • The presidential council on national competitiveness and the national police agency have initiated a national project to refresh the road traffic control and operation systems to increase operational efficiency at signalized intersections. It would reduce the number of stops and delay of vehicles at intersections and thus mitigate congestion and emission. Although significant reduction of carbon is expected as a consequential result, such effects has yet been studied since traffic operation was behind of interest in the field of green transportation where planning was mainly involved. This paper delivers the macroscopic effects of carbon reduction of the selected items of the national project: the ones managed by the police agency. The results showed that the studied items yield significant reduction of carbon: pedestrian push button operation, flashing signal operation, progression, lagging left turns, permitted left turn, and actuated left-turn operation would reduce 12.31%, 3.27%, 2.44%, 0.97%, 0.81%, and 0.72% of the total amount of carbon emitted a year in a whole transportation sector, respectively.

Determination of the Required Minimum Spacing between Signalized Intersections and Bus-Bays (신호교차로와 버스정류장간 이격거리 산정에 관한 연구)

  • The influence of bus stops near signalized intersections is one of the important factors which cannot be negligible in the analysis of the capacity of signalized intersections. Absence of consideration of bus bay can reduce capacity and increase the time that the stop of buses block other traveling vehicles. This influence is reflected by the bus blockage adjustment factor in KHCM, but the factor does not consider the course of each bus passing the intersection. Particularly, left turn buses have more influence on the capacity than the other buses and require the minimum length of the road for lane changes. All the existing criteria can apply only to arterial roads on which mostly traffic flows are continuous. And the criteria. which can determine the optimum location and the minimum distance between a signalized intersection and a bus bay, is not prepared and the related study is insufficient. Therefore, a theoretical formula is derived in this study being based on the theories which are avaliable to apply to the situation of signalized intersections.

The Method of the Phase Split Adjustment Considering the Minimum Green time in COSMOS (COSMOS에서 최소녹색시간을 고려한 현시배분 보정방안 연구)

  • The purpose of this paper is to improve the existing phase split algorithm considering the minimum green time in COSMOS. In the case of a signalized intersection where two wide and narrow streets intersect each other, the time required for the pedestrian crossing is frequently longer than the time alloted to the through traffic on a minor street. In order to meet the minimum green time requirement for the pedestrian less time in alloted automatically to the left-turn traffic, creating heavy congestion on the left-turn approach. To solve this problem, this study suggests a new algorithm which shares the barrier using minimum green time and shares the burden with signal phases alloted to the crossing street traffic on the basis of the equal ratio of the degree of saturation, while maintaining the minimum green time requirement. The new algorithm was compared with the existing algorithm by using a microscopic simulation model for COSMOS evaluation developed at Ajou University. The simulation results show that the new algorithm produces better performance than the existing one.

Analysis of Driving Conditions and Traffic Accidents in the Case of Trumpet Interchange Ramps (트럼펫 IC 램프의 운전조건과 교통사고 분석)

  • This study deals with traffic accidents at the ramps of trumpet interchanges. The purpose of the study is to analyze the relations between tke turning direction of ramps (and combinations with other factors) and traffic accidents. In Pursuing this analysis, this study gives particular attention to the combination of turning direction and grade and the combination of turning direction and radius of curvature in the case of the trumpet interchange ramps. The null hypothesis tests show that the average accident number and average accident rate ate rejected at the 90% and 95% significance level respectively Also. the null hypothesis tests show that the combinations or turning direction and Evade as well as turning direction and radius are all rejected at the 95% significance level. In summary, right turn movements ate more dangerous than left turns on the trumpet interchange vamps. Also, ramps with a right turn and up grade or with a left turn and radius more than 200m have more traffic accident Potential than other types of ramps.

Characteristics and Severity of Side Right-Angle Collisions at Signalized Intersections (신호교차로의 측면직각 층돌사고 특성과 심각도)

  • This study deals with the side right-angle collisions of 4-legged signalized intersections in Cheongju. The goals are to analyze the characteristics of accidents and to find out the accident factors that affect severity using ordered probit model. In pursuing the above, the study uses the data of 580 side right-angle collisions occurred at the 181 intersections(2004-2005). The analyses show that more accidents were occurred in the nighttime and in going straight. The main cause was analyzed to be the red-light violation. Also, the main results of modeling are the following, First, the likelihood ratio index is 0.094 and t-ratio values that explain goodness of fit are significant. Second, minor road traffic volumes, minor road lanes, major road left-turn lanes, major road left-turn signal, major road yellow signal time, cross angle, major and minor road speed limits are significant factors affecting crash severities at signalized intersections.
