Generation of Longitudinal Twin of GaAs Single Crystal by LEC Method (LEC법 GaAs 단결정의 종단쌍정 발생)

  • When GaAs single crystals are grown by LEC method, a serious problem is that longitudinal twins are often generated. the growth axis is changed from (100) to (221) direction by logitudinal twin. In this experiment, 3 inch GaAs single crystals, slaving (100) uonh axis, were von by LEC method. Striations and edge facets generated during crystal growth, were observed by SPW photo-etching. Relationship between striations and edge facets was studied. Instability of their generation was the cause of goneration of longitudinal twins. The shape of striations was changed with the growth conditions such as crystal diameter and melt volume. In the region of crystal edge: there was the microscopic fluctuation by the instability of melt convection. Edge facets consisting of {111} plane developed well in the region which striation were convex to the melt. Because the angle between striation and {111} edge facet decreased in that region. Longitudinal twins were generated on the crystal surface at the <111> direction which is perpendicular to the growth axis. These were generated by unstable melt convection and propagated in the crystal as crystal grew. Longitudinal twins were generated when regrowth rate was very fast after {111} edge facets were remelted. So, in order to supress the generation of longitudinal twin, abrupt change of melt convection must be prohibited.

  • This article presents computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations of nanoparticle movements and flow characteristics in laboratory-scale electrostatic precipitator (ESP) without corona discharge, and for simulation, it uses the commercial CFD program(CFD-ACE) including electrostatic theory and Lagrangian-based equation for nanoparticle movement. For validation of CFD results, a simple cylindrical type of ESP is simulated and numerical prediction shows fairly good agreement with the analytical solution. In particular, the present study investigates the effect of particle diameter, inlet flow rate, and applied electric potential on particle collection efficiency and compares the numerical prediction with the experimental data, showing good agreement. It is found that the particle collection efficiency decreases with increasing inlet flow rate because the particle detention time becomes shorter, whereas it decreases with the increase in nanoparticle diameter and with the decrease of applied electric voltage resulting from smaller terminal electrostatic velocity.

  • Chemical cleaning of boiler pipelines is necessary before the commissioning of thermal power plant after many years of construction. Fluid-Dynamic study for the chemical cleaning of boiler piplelines in Young-Heung thermal power plant is carried out. First, flow velocity necessary to sustain and exhaust solid particles in the vertical pipelines is calculated. Second, the flowrate necessary to make the calculated velocities in each vertical pipelines is calculated. Third, all the pipelines are analyzed with the Piping Systems Fluid Flow software to calculated the pressure loss in the pipelines. Finally, the operating point of the applied pump is calculated with the help of the same software.

  • 본 논문에서는 최근에 급속도로 증가하고 있는 네트워크 트래픽으로 인한 종단서버 시스템의 네트워크 정합부분에서 발생하는 병목현상을 해소하기 위한 방안으로 네트워크 프로세서 기반의 프로토콜 오프로드 엔진을 제안한다. 지금까지 프로토콜 재 설계. 제로복사 등의 소프트웨어적인 방법으로 시도되던 종단서버 시스템의 네트워크 입출력 처리를 네트워크 프로세서를 이용한 프로토콜 오프로드엔진을 사용하여 처리함으로써 네트워크 입, 출력 처리부의 성능을 향상시키고자 한다. 오프로드엔진은 프로그램에 의해 쉽게 재사용, 수정이 용이한 구조로 설계하였다. 본 논문에서는 인텔의 IXP1200를 탑재한 PCI 네트워크 정합장지 개발 보드를 사용하여 프로토콜 오프로드 엔진을 구현하고 그 성능을 측정하였다.

  • There have been noticeable developments for the optimization of the highway and railroad alignments with the IT and computerized tools. The designers expect that all of the quantitative design elements should be considered. This study developed a methodology which can be useful for the vertical alignment design. It provides a accurate "vertical control point" searching method, and makes the vertical alignment optimization more efficiently. The vector method makes the searching faster and calculates more accurate application sections. The results from this method generate more reliable vertical alignments than the conventional raster method for less computation time.

6-Gbps Single-ended Receiver with Continuous-time Linear Equalizer and Self-reference Generator (기준 전압 발생기와 연속 시간 선형 등화기를 가진 6 Gbps 단일 종단 수신기)

  • A 6-Gbps single-ended receiver with a linear equalizer and a self-reference generator is proposed for a high-speed interface with the double data rate. The proposed single-ended receiver uses a common gate amplifier to increase a voltage gain for an input signal with low voltage level. The continuous-time linear equalizer which reduces gain to the low frequencies and achieves high-frequency peaking gain is implemented in the common gate amplifier. Furthermore, a self-reference generator, which is controlled with the resolution 2.1 mV using digital averaging method, is implemented to maximize the voltage margin by removing the offset noise of the common gate amplifier. The proposed single-ended receiver is designed using a 65-nm CMOS process with 1.2-V supply and consumes the power of 15 mW at the data rate of 6 Gbps. The peaking gain in the frequency of 3 GHz of the designed equalizer is more than 5 dB compared to that in the low frequency.

  • 근거리 통신 네트워크(LAN : Local Area Network), 원거리 통신 네트워크(WAN : Wide Area Network), 대도시 지역 네트워크(MAN : Metro Area Network)는 서로 다른 표준의 전송 속도 및 프로토콜을 사용하기 때문에 네트워크 연동 등에 있어서 비용 대비 성능을 최적화 하기에 매우 어려운 상황이다. 최근에는 서로 다른 이들의 네트워크에 소요되는 대역폭의 증가에 따라 통신사업자 및 장비업체에서는 각 네트워크의 전송속도가 초당 10기가비트로 수렴될 것으로 예상하고 있다. 10기가비트 이더넷 기술은 IEEE 802.3 그룹에서 표준화가 진행중인 초고속 LAN 기술로서 기가비트에 그쳤던 LAN의 속도 개선과 아울러 MAN-WAN의 종단 네트워크 일부로써 LAN을 사용할 수 있도록 하는 차세대 기간 네트워크 기술이다. 인터넷 서비스 제공자(Internet Service Provider)들이 10기가비트 이더넷 기술을 사용되면 LAN과 MAN/WAN으로 분리되었다. 네트워크 경계가 허물어질 것으로 예상된다. 특히 급증하는 향후 트래픽의 대부분이 인터넷 트래픽임을 감안하면 이에 적합한 해결책이 절실하게 요구된다. 본 고에서는 이러한 10기가비트 이더넷 기술과 관련된 국제 표준화 동향과 기술 요소 및 10기가비트 이더넷 기술을 이용하는 경우의 응용 사례를 살펴보고자 한다.

Estimating Acceleration and Deceleration Lane Lengths by Analyzing Vehicle Speed Variation of Rest Areas for Drowsy Drivers (고속도로 졸음쉼터 진·출입 차량 주행속도 분석 및 적정 가·감속차로 길이 산정 연구)

  • In this study, vehicle speeds at acceleration and deceleration lanes of rest areas for drowsy drivers were investigated to analyze effects of acceleration and deceleration lane lengths, grades and curve radius. In addition, we used VISSM to analyze proper lengths of rest area's acceleration and deceleration lanes. Several VISSIM scenarios with different lengths of acceleration and deceleration lane were constructed. Through VISSIM simulation, we collected individual vehicle speed data to analyze speed changes by different lengths of acceleration and deceleration lanes. As a result of the vehicle speed change investigation, grades and curve radii of the rest area affected the speed, most of all lengths of acceleration and deceleration lane showed a great effect on the vehicle speed. In the case of short lengths of acceleration and deceleration lane, speed variation among vehicles was significant. If the deceleration lane length is short, the vehicle enters a state in which the speed is not sufficiently reduced, and if the acceleration lane length is short, the vehicle enters a state in which the speed is not sufficiently accelerated showing high risks of conflicts and accidents. It is recommended that 245m length of deceleration lane and 370m length of acceleration lane should be installed at least to secure safety and manage conflicts relevantly.

  • IP(Internet Protocol)를 기반으로 하는 인터넷은 트래픽의 폭발적인 증가로 인해 인터넷 전송 속도 저하와 확장성의 한계에 직면하고 있다. 현재 IETF와 ATM 포럼 등을 중심으로 다양한 초고속 전송기술과 QoS 서비스 기술이 제안되고 있다. 본 논문은 종단간 QoS서비스 지원을 위해 필수적으로 요구되고있는 MPLS망에서 DiffServ 연동에 관한 시뮬레이터를 제안하여 실제적인 DiffServ/MPLS 망을 구축하지 않아도 다양한 어플리케이션을 시뮬레이션 하도록 제안한다. 따라서 MPLS의 고속 전송과 DiffServ의 차별화 서비스를 제공함으로써 발전된 QoS 보장이 가능하다.
