The Effect of Social Support and Resilience on Quality of Life in Middle-Aged Women (중년여성의 사회적지지, 회복탄력성이 삶의 질에 미치는 영향)

  • This study is a descriptive research study to determine the relationship between middle-aged women's social support, resilience and quality of life, and to identify factors that affect quality of life. The participants were 162 middle-aged women in G City. Data was collected from May 10 to June 10, 2023. Data were analyzed through descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression using SPSS 25.0 program. The social support was 3.36±0.38, resilience was 3.39±0.42, and quality of life was 3.18±0.50. Quality of life was positively correlated with social support(r=.502, p<.001), resilience(r=.530, p<.001). Factors that have a significant impact on quality of life include resilience(β=.422, p<.001), social support(β=.412, p<.001) and health status(β=.212, p=.001). The total explanatory power of these variables on quality of life was 39.2%. Therefore, it is necessary to develop effective programs and strategies to improve the quality of life of middle-aged women by improving their resilience, social support, and health status.

Analysis of High School Students' Viewpoints based on Science History about Motion of Objects (과학사에 기초한 물체의 운동에 대한 고등학생들의 관점 분석)

  • In this research, a questionnaire was developed to investigate high school students' viewpoints, originating from science history, on 'motion of on object', the subjects were seventy- five 10th grade students and sixty-five 11th grade students. Results found that the highest percentage among the types of 10th grade students' thoughts was related to the Middle Ages 'Impetus' viewpoints. Percentages of 11th grade students' thoughts were highest for Middle Ages and Newton views. These results provided proof that the development of student thoughts' based on science history' are consistent with school year. Furthermore, student thought regarding 'object motion' under the conditions of no force, vacuum, or air under a weightless stage were related to progressive viewpoints on science history. However, the percentage of thoughts related to earlier viewpoints were considerable. Student thoughts on parabolic motion, circle motion, and conservation amount of motion were found to be highly significant in similarity to the viewpoints of Galilei, Descartes, and Huygens; view cultivated before Newton. Consequently, this study determined that educational efficiency could be raised by providing historically more progressive views to cope with conflictory student thoughts-thoughts related to past views in science history.

Effect of Diet and Exercise Recommendations Provided by Medical Staff to Patients, and Exercise Self Efficacy with Coronary Artery Disease on Adherence to Regular Exercise (관상동맥질환자에게 제공한 의료인의 식이 및 운동권고, 운동자기효능감이 규칙적인 운동이행에 미치는 영향)

  • Coronary artery disease(CAD) is associated with a high risk of recurrence and an increased mortality rate upon recurrence. Consequently, there is a need for continuous health behavior recommendations from medical staff. Therefore, a study was conducted on 219 patients hospitalized for coronary angiography. The study aimed to investigate the influence of medical staff recommendations on exercise adherence among CAD patients. In conclusion, regular exercise(RE) recommendation(OR 3.52, p=.036) and dietary advice from medical staff(OR 6.48, p=.022), having high exercise self-efficacy(OR 1.36, p=.001) positively affected RE adherence. Therefore, medical staff should strengthen personalized recommendations for RE and healthy diets, as well as develop exercise self-efficacy enhancement programs to encourage patient participation. Future research is recommended to explore the impact of the degree and method of medical staff recommendations on self-management practices among CAD patients.

Petrological Classification and Provenance Interpretation for the Stone Properties of Three-story Stone Pagoda in Beomhak-ri, Sancheong, Korea (산청 범학리 삼층석탑 석재의 암석학적 분류와 산지해석)

  • Syenite is the name of a rock that has been used since ancient Roman period, but it is not widely distributed worldwide, and cases of its use as a material for Korean stone cultural heritages are very rare. However, the Three-story Stone Pagoda in Beomhak-ri of Sancheong, is composed of syenite, and each stone property has very similar rock phases, mineral compositions, grain sizes, colors and magnetic susceptibilities, indicating that they are all stones of the same rock series. Outcrops of syenite are relative widely distributed in the Beomhak-ri area, and it was mined for use as building stones until recently. This rock is almost identical in overall colors, occurrences, and mineralogical and petrological characteristics to that of the stone pagoda, and the geochemical evolution trends of the rocks are also very similar. In addition, numerous quarrying traces were identified in the same rock around the Beomhaksaji Temple site. In this way, the original stone properties of the Beomhak-ri Stone Pagoda were determined to be syenite because precise petrological and geochemical analysis and provenance interpretation was possible, the syenite was distributed around the temple site, and ancient quarrying traces were scattered in the same rocks. Therefore, it can be interpreted that the Beomhak-ri Stone Pagoda was processed and constructed using self-sufficient stone materials from the temple site area.

Single-unit fixed restoration using the automated crown shaping artificial intelligence program (자동 치관 형성 인공지능 프로그램을 이용한 단일 고정성 보철물 수복 증례)

  • Recently, several attempts have been made to integrate AI into the field of dentistry. To overcome the limitations of traditional fixed prosthetic fabrication methods such as CAD-CAM (computer-aided design-computer-aided manufacturing), AI programs are being developed for automated crown fabrication, and various studies are underway to applicate in clinical situation. In these case studies, single-unit fixed prostheses were fabricated using an AI program (Dentbird Crown, Imagoworks Inc, Seoul, Korea) in both the anterior and posterior regions and the fabrication time and accuracy were compared with previously used CAD-CAM method. The first case is a 44-year-old woman who presented for re-fabrication of a zirconia prosthesis due to a prosthesis fracture on the lingual side of the upper right lateral incisor. The second case is a 53-year-old male patient who presented for a crown restoration on an upper left first molar following root canal treatment, where he received a final zirconia restoration. In both cases, the first prosthesis was designed manually using a CAD program, the second prosthesis was designed using AI alone, and the third prosthesis was designed using AI and then modified by CAD program, and the three designs were superimposed to compare suitability. When evaluated after temporary placement, the final prosthesis demonstrates adequate stability, retention and support, resulting in functional and esthetic satisfaction.

효소적 방법에 의한 참돔(Pagrus major) 품질판정에 관한 연구

  • 운동여부와 운동횟수 그리고 어체 크기에 대한 양식산 어종의 품질판정을 위한 지표를 검색하기 위하여 효소적 방법 즉 ATP 관련화합물과 양식산 활어의 건강한 상태와 칼슘의 노출, 염도의 감소, 산소의 부족, 궁핍 등과 같은 스트레스를 받은 상태를 판단하는 adenylate energy charge (AEC)를 근육의 품질판정을 위한 지표로써 조사하였다. 운동사육구와 비운동사육구에서의 참돔육에 대한 ATP 관련화합물의 변화는 운동 0일에는 ATP함량은 8.62 μmol/g이었지만 20일차에는 8.59 μmol/g으로 운동기간이 길어짐에 따라 ATP의 함량은 약간의 감소를 보였다. 이는 운동이라는 자극요인으로 인하여 ATP의 소모가 촉진되었을 것으로 판단된다. 또한 운동 0일차의 ADP함량은 0.72 μmo1/g이었지만 20일차에는 0.93μmol/g로 ATP의 소모만큼 약간의 증가를 보이고 있다. 반면, 비운동사육구에서 0일차의 ATP함량은 5.78 μmol/g이었지만 20일차에서는 6.31 μmol/g로 운동사육구와 대조적으로 기간이 길어짐에 따라 ATP함량이 약간의 증가를 보여주고 있다. 생리적으로 동물에 가혹한 환경에 두거나 스트레스를 가하면 adenylate energy charge (AEC)가 영향을 받아 변화게 된다. AEC는 (ATP + ½ ADP)/(ATP + ADP + AMP)의 비율로 정의되는데, AEC의 범위는 0∼1사이로써 0은 ATP 관련화합물이 AMP로 전환된 상태를 말하며, 1은 모든 ATP 관련 화합물이 ATP로 존재하는 것을 의미한다. 그러므로, 이들결합의 상관적인 정도는 개개의 세포에서 에너지의 효용성을 측정하는 것으로 이용되고 있다. AEC 수치는 운동수조에서 0.91∼0.92 건강상태가 좋았지만 비운동수조는 0.87∼0.88로 운동수조에 비해 값이 낮게 나왔다. 운동횟수에 관계없이 운동시킨 어육의 AEC는 0.90∼0.91로 건강한 상태였다. 어체크기에 따른 ATP 관련화합물의 변화는 0.7∼0.9kg의 크기를 가진 참돔에서는 ATP 함량이 7.88 μmole/g, 1.5∼l,7kg의 크기를 가진 참돔에서는 ATP함량이 9.61μmole/g로 많았고 다른 크기에서는 큰 차이를 나타내지 않았다. 그리고 ADP함량은 어체의 크기가 증가할수록 함량은 감소하였다. 그러나, 어체의 크기에 따른 ATP관련화합물의 변화는 거의 없었다. 건강도의 지표인 AEC는 0.89∼0.94로 전체적으로 건강상태로 나타났다. 하루 2회 운동시킨 육에서의 ATP함량은 0일차에 8.75 μmole/g, 10일차에 8.46 μmole/g, 20일차에 8.51μmole/g로 약간의 감소를 보여준다. ADP함량은 일까지는 증가하지만 그 이후에는 큰 변화를 보이지 않는다. 6시간 운동시킨 그룹의 ATP함량은 0일차에 8.63 μmole/g, 5일차에 8.52 μmole/g, 10일차에 8.4μmole/g, 20일차에 8.51 μmole/g로 10일까지는 감소하지만 그 이후에는 큰 변화를 보이지 않는다. ADP함량은 0일차에 0.72 μmole/g, 10일차 0.84 μmole/g, 20일차에 0.83 μmole/g으로 10일차까지는 약간 증가하지만 그 이후에는 큰 변화를 보이지 않았다. 참돔의 근원섬유에 있어서 Ca/sup 2+/이 존재할 때 Mg/sup 2+/-ATPase 활성의 변화는 운동시킨 참돔 근원섬유의 Mg/sup 2+/-ATPase 활성은 0.35μmol Pi/minㆍmg였으며, 비운동구에서 0.34μmol Pi/minㆍmg으로 운동시킨 참돔의 육에서 ATPase 활성이 약간 높은 것으로 나타났다. 운동사육시킨 참돔은 운동기간이 증가할수록 ATPase활성이 증가하여 운동 20일에는 0.42μmo1 Pi/minㆍmg의 함량을 나타내었으나, 비운동사육에서는 큰 차이를 보이지 않고 있다. 근원섬유의 Ca/sup 2+/가 첨가되지 않았을때의 Mg/sup 2+/-ATPase 활성을 나타내었다. 운동시키전에는 각각 0.10μmol Pi/minㆍmg, 0.14μmol Pi/minㆍmg 나타나 비운동구가 운동구에 비하여 Mg/sup 2+/(-Ca/sup 2+/)-ATPase 활성이 높았으며 사육기간동안 활성이 서서히 감소하는 경향을 나타내었다. Ca/sup 2+/-ATPase의 활성 또한 사육기간 동안 큰 변화를 보이지 않았다. 그러므로, 참돔의 운동여부에 따라서 ATPase활성을 살펴본 결과, 운동기간에 따른 약간의 차이는 보이고 있으나, 품질지표로써 사용하기가 어렵다고 판단된다. 효소적인 방법을 이용한 양식산 활어의 품질지표로써 ATP 관련화합물, ATPase 활성은 운동여부, 크기에 따라 객관적인 지표로써의 사용이 어려우므로, 건강도를 측정할 수 있는 AEC의 수치를 적용하는 것이 적합하다고 판단된다. 즉, 양식산 참돔의 AEC 수치가 1∼0.9의 범위에서는 건강한 활어로 상급의 등급을, 0.8∼0.7의 AEC 수치는 중급의 등급으로, 그 이하의 수치에서는 하급으로 적용가능 하다고 판단된다.

The Quantitative Analysis of Articles in Journal of the Korean Earth Science Society during 1979-2014 (한국지구과학회지 논문(1979-2014)의 정량적 분석)

  • In the celebration of the $50^{th}$ anniversary of the Korean Earth Science Society, the whole articles published in Journal of the Korean Earth Science Society (JKESS) were quantitatively analyzed. JKESS has played a major role in exchanging academically among earth science education specialists and in educating next generation for the last 36 years since it was founded in 1979. The total number of 1544 articles in thirty five volumes about the earth sciences and the earth science pedagogy has been published by August, 2014, and the number of the yearly published articles has been increasing. Regarding the research area, 69.3% was published in earth sciences and the other 30.7% was in earth science education; the percentage of research articles in geology, atmospheric science, environmental science, oceanography, and astronomy was 55.2, 17.6, 16.0, 6.0, and 5.2%, respectively. The number of research articles on atmospheric science and environmental science has recently been increasing, whereas, earth science education research articles have been" decreasing, which was similar to the pattern seen fifteen years ago. We thought that one of the reasons was related to a new journal named, "Journal of the Korean Society of Earth Science Education" started to publish in December, 2008. The number of articles authored or co-authored with foreigner scholars was totaled 53, which is only 3.4% of the entire number of published articles. It suggests that international advertisement via public relations as well as the development of English homepage be necessary. In order to become an excellent registered academic journal, it is the time to comprehensively discuss how to improve both the quality growth and the quantity of JKESS. According to the Ministry of Education, it is now in its planning stage to convert the current registration system of the academic journals to the autonomous evaluation system in academia. Therefore, we recommend that Journal of the Korean Earth Science Society be prepared for the upcoming future change.

Reconstruction after Wide Excision of Malignant Soft Tissue Tumor in Ankle and Foot (족관절 및 족부에 발생한 연부 조직 악성 종양의 광범위 절제술 후 재건술)

  • Purpose: To evaluate the clinical usability of reconstructive methods, and how to select flap after wide excision of malignant soft tissue tumor in ankle and foot. Materials and Methods: The 15 cases shown in the 14 patients (In case of a male patient, reconstruction was performed two times due to local recurrence.) with malignant soft tissue tumor in ankle and foot, who underwent reconstruction after wide excision from March 2000 until March 2007. Oncologic, surgical and functional results were evaluated. Results: The method of reconstruction used were anterolateral thigh perforator flap (5cases), Reversed superficial sural artery flap (4 cases), dorsalis pedis flap (3 cases), local flap (3cases). The defect, mean size was $5.5{\times}5.7\;cm$, was reconstructed with rotation flap or free flap, mean size was $5.9{\times}6.0\;cm$, skin graft for remnant. The mean operation time was 310 minutes (120~540 minutes); it took 256 minutes to reconstruct by rotation flap, and 420 minutes by free flap. As oncologic results, 7 patients were no evidence of disease, 6 patients were alive with disease and 1 patient was expired by pulmonary metastasis at the time of the last follow-up. 4 patients had local recurrence and 4 pateints had distant metastases. As functional results, 14 patients were evaluated with average score of 68.8% using the system of the Musculoskeletal Tumor Society. Conclusion: The dorsalis pedis and reverse superficial sural artery rotation flap which is easy procedure, has less complication and takes short operation time, can be primarily considered to reconstruct a small defect. And the anterolateral thigh perforator flap is suitable for coverage of a large defects after wide excision of malignant soft tissue tumor in ankle and foot.

Effectiveness of MDCT for the Followup of CABG Patients with LIMA to LAD and Saphenous Veins to Others (좌내흉동맥과 복재정맥편을 사용한 관상동맥우회로술 환자에서의 추적조사에서 MDCT의 유용성)

  • There are several options for choosing a graft in CABG, we routinely chose LIMA for LAD and great saphenous vein for other target vessels. To evaluate the posoperative graft patency, we have studied the results using a 16 slices multi-detector computed tomography. Material and Method: From 1995 to 2003, 80 CABG patients who did not complain any event of MACE have been examined by 16-MDCT, mostly in an out patient clinic. Result: There were 61 men and 19 women. MDCT was used as early as 7 days to 9 years post-operatively with a median follow-up period of 6.5 years, and mean follow-up peiod of $31.5\pm25.4$ months. Mean age was $58.4\pm12.6$ years old in men and $61.5\pm17.2$ years old in women. 72180 patients received LIMA to LAD, and all other patients received vein grafts for bypass. The target vessel of vein grafts were 8 in LAD, 47 in RCA, 60 in diagonals, and 61 in obtuse marginals. Among them 42 sequential anastomoses were performed. The mean graft number was $3.1\pm1.8$ grafts. 5 year graft patency rate of each grafts was as followings; $93.1\%$ in LIMA to LAD, $94.9\%$ in vein to diagonals, $92.1\%$ in vein to obtuse marginals, and $79.2\%$ in vein to RCA. Sequential grafting showed better graft patency than the isolated grafting $(95.2\%\;vs\;78.7\~95.0\%)$. Conclusion: In this study, CABG with LIMA and saphenous veins showed satisfactory longterm results. 16-MDCT provided good images for follow-up study after CABG. Additionally, as radiologic tools (64-MDCT, MRI) improve more in the future, they can be used for diagnosing preoperative anatomical coronary disease as well as cardiac functions.

An Extremely Early-Maturing, Plain Area Adaptable, Blast Resistant and High Grain Quality Rice Cultivar 'Joun' (평야지적응 극조생 내도열병 고품질 벼 신품종 '조운')

  • There are the farmer's needs to develop early-maturing cultivar adaptable to mid-northern inland plain and alpine area. Furthermore, it is required to develop a rice variety to produce new rice before concentrated marketing dates, even in the years of early Chuseok. 'Joun' is a new extremely early-maturing japonica rice cultivar developed in 2009 from the cross of SR14880-173-3-3-2-2-2/Unbong20 at Cheolwon Substation, National Institute of Crop Science (NICS), Rural Development Administration (RDA). The heading date of 'Joun' is July 23 in mid-northern alpine area, which is 7 days earlier than that of Odaebyeo. It has about 61 cm in culm length with semi-erect plant type. Panicle has a few awns and its exertion is good. The number of spikelets per panicle is smaller than that of Odaebyeo and 1,000 grain-weight of brown rice is 21.2 g which is less than 26.3 g of Odaebyeo, but the complete grain ratio is higher. Milled kernels are translucent with non-glutinous endosperm and palatability of cooked rice is good. It shows strong resistance to cold treatment, lodging, premature heading, wilting and viviparous germination during ripening stage. This cultivar shows resistance to leaf blast disease but susceptible to bacterial blight, virus disease and insect pests. The milled rice yield performance of 'Joun' is about 5.18 MT/ha by ordinary culture in local adaptability test for three years. This cultivar may be highly adaptable to the mid-northern inland plain and alpine area, north-eastern coastal area and middle plain area.
