Axial Strain Of Reinforced Concrete Beams Subjected to Reversed Cyclic Loading (반복하중을 받는 철근콘크리트 보의 부재 축방향 변형률에 관한 연구)

  • It is required to evaluate the axial strain of reinforced concrete beams in order to predict the ductility of reinforced concrete beams subjected to reversed cyclic loading. A model was proposed to determine the axial strains In reinforced concrete beams by analysing the behavior of reinforced concrete sections and comparing with published test results. The proposed axial strain model inclusively reflected four kinds of paths : Path 1-steel bar in an elastic stage or a unloading region; Path 2-after flexural yielding; Path 3-a slip region; and Path 4-a reversing loading region. The equations to predict the axial strains of each path were proposed. The proposed equations took into account the effects of the loading program. Comparison of axial strains between experimental results and the results from proposed equations showed to be in a good agreement with experimental results.

Modeling the Effect of Water, Excavation Sequence and Reinforcement on the Response of Tunnels

  • A powerful numerical method that can be used for modeling rock-structure interaction is the Discontinuous Deformation Analysis (D D A) method developed by Shi in 1988. In this method, rock masses are treated as systems of finite and deformable blocks. Large rock mass deformations and block movements are allowed. Although various extensions of the D D A method have been proposed in the literature, the method is not capable of modeling water-block interaction, sequential loading or unloading and rock reinforcement; three features that are needed when modeling surface or underground excavation in fractured rock. This paper presents three new extensions to the D D A method. The extensions consist of hydro-mechanical coupling between rock blocks and steady water flow in fractures, sequential loading or unloading, and rock reinforcement by rockbolts, shotcrete or concrete lining. Examples of application of the D D A method with the new extensions are presented. Simulations of the underground excavation of the \ulcornerUnju Tunnel\ulcorner in Korea were carried out to evaluate the influence of fracture flow, excavation sequence and reinforcement on the tunnel stability. The results of the present study indicate that fracture flow and improper selection of excavation sequence could have a destabilizing effect on the tunnel stability. On the other hand, reinforcement by rockbolts and shotcrete can stabilize the tunnel. It is found that, in general, the D D A program with the three new extensions can now be used as a practical tool in the design of underground structures. In particular, phases of construction (excavation, reinforcement) can now be simulated more realistically.

Bending behavior of shape memory alloy bar and its application of seismic restrainers for bridges (형상기억합금의 휨거동 및 교량변위제어장치적용 연구)

  • The goal of this study is to perform several bending tests on a shape memory alloy bar and to analyze the characteristics of the bending behavior. The other goal is to verify the seismic performance of an SMA bar bending application. Single and double bending tests were conducted with varying loading speeds and maximum displacement. The loading and the unloading stiffness were estimated from the force-displacement curves and the equivalent damping ratio of each test was also assessed. In single bending, the SMA bar showed the stiffness hardening after the displacement of 32 mm. It is assumed that this phenomenon is due to the stress-induced-martensite hardening. The increasing loading speed did not influence on the stiffness of the single bending SMA bar. The stiffness of the double bending bar is about 5 times of that of the single bending. This study introduced a seismic application of SMA bending bars as seismic restrainers for bridges and showed its practicality. SMA bars in bending are used for seismic restrainers in a three-span-simply-supported bridge. They showed the effectiveness to reduce the responses of the bridge and the applicability for a seismic restrainer. The significance of this study is to provide basic knowledge of SMA bending and its seismic applications.

The behavior of tunnel and ground according to the loading of building construction on the ground (터널 상부 지반에 시공되는 건물 하중에 따른 터널 및 주변지반의 거동)

  • Recently, the construction of the urban area has been rapidly increasing, and the excavation work of the ground has been frequently performed at the upper part of the existing underground structure. Especially, when the structure is constructed after the excavation of the ground, the loading and unloading process is repeated in the lower ground of the excavation so that it can affect existing underground structures. Therefore, in order to maintain the stability of the existing underground structure due to the excavation of the ground, it is necessary to accurately grasp the influence of the excavation and the structure load in the adjoining part. In this study, the effects of the ground excavation and the new structure load on the existing tunnel were investigated by large - scale experiment and numerical analysis. For this purpose, a large model tester with a size reduced to 1/5 of the actual size was constructed, and model tests and numerical analyzes were carried out to investigate the effects of the excavation of the body ground by maintaining the distance between the excavation floor and the tunnel ceiling constant, The impacts were identified. As a result of the study, it was confirmed that the deeper the excavation depth, the larger the influence on the existing tunnel. At the same distance, it was confirmed that the tunnel displacement increased with the increase of the building load, and the ground stress increased up to 2.4 times. From this result, it was confirmed that the effect of the increase of the underground stress on the existing tunnel is affected by the increase of the building load, and the influence of the underground stress is decreased from the new load width above 3.0D.

Irregular Waves-Induced Seabed Dynamic Responses around Submerged Breakwater (불규칙파동장하 잠제 주변지반의 동적거동에 관한 수치해석)

  • In case of the seabed around and under gravity structures such as submerged breakwater is exposed to a large wave action long period, the excess pore pressure will be generated significantly due to pore volume change associated with rearrangement soil grains. This effect will lead a seabed liquefaction around and under structures as a result from decrease in the effective stress. Under the seabed liquefaction occurred and developed, the possibility of structure failure will be increased eventually. Lee et al.(2016) studied for regular waves, and this study considered for irregular waves with the same numerical analysis method used for regular waves. Under the condition of the irregular wave field, the time and spatial series of the deformation of submerged breakwater, the pore water pressure (oscillatory and residual components) and pore water pressure ratio in the seabed were estimated and their results were compared with those of the regular wave field to evaluate the liquefaction potential on the seabed quantitatively. Although present results are based on a limited number of numerical simulations, one of the study's most important findings is that a more safe design can be obtainable when analyzing case with a regular wave condition corresponding to a significant wave of irregular wave.

  • A spontaneous revertant of mutation rbsB103 that is ribose taxis-positive was characterized. This revertant was found to be export-competent in the export of ribose-binding protein shown by the disappearance of accumulated mutant precursor protein and the export of mature ribose-binding protein to the periplasm. The reversional change was shown to be in the region of risB gene that codes for the amino terminal portion of ribose-binding protein. Analysis by high-performance liquid chromatography of peptide patterns of ribose-binding proteins confirmed the relationship between the wild-type and the revertant proteins as shown for the mutant previously (Iida et al., 1985). When the processing rate of presursor proteins from the wild type and the revertant strain in vivo was compared by pulse-chase experiment, it was found that processing is less efficient than normal in the revertant. Purified mature proteins from both wild-type and revertant were subjected to amino acid sequencing. The results confirmed the amino acid changes deduced from the DNA sequencing and showed that processing of the revertant precursor occured in the correct position even though there are two different amino acids present in the signal sequence.

  • The protection of intellectual property right in international conventions are worldwide or regional areas already exists a century. Therefore, our country is positive affiliated with international conventions. After that time, such as a violation of international convention and an example of imitations are continually that we prognosticate the international trade market activities was difficult not only became an issue of country credit risk. At this point, the major purpose of this study make an analysis of both paralleled with the case study follow an example and the comprehension with concerned about recognition of intellectual property right. In additionally, it stands a plan of package design protections under the WTO systems. This study have carried out a theoretical and practical analysis of intellectual property right and statistical analysis through the inside and outside of the country packaging design study and a case study of troubles with intellectual property. Besides, it is accomplish the purpose of the study that established exploratory study survey about inside and outside of the country packaging design infringement case study and relative package design industry employees with consumptions real research. I hoped that this study will be a foundation on which packaging, design industry protections to intellectual property right.

King's Status Reflected in The Joseon Dynasty's Document transmission System (조선 문서행이체제에 반영된 국왕의 위상)

  • This article explores the influence of the king in the Joseon dynasty's document transmission system, focusing on some exceptional cases. According to the Joseon's law, the form of official documents depended on rank differences between receiver and sender. However, there were cases of not following the general principles such as Byungjo(兵曹), Seungjeongwon(承政院) and Kyujanggak(奎章閣). Byungjo was a ministry in charge of military administration. Seungjeongwon was a royal secretary institution which assisted the king and delivered king's orders that existed from the early Joseon. Kyujanggak was a royal library and an assistant institution of the king that was established in the JeongJo(正祖) era. Byungjo was regarded as a relatively high-ranking institution when it sent and received military-related documents. Seungjeongwon and Kyujanggak could use Kwanmoon(關文) to upper rank institution. Kwanmoon was the document form used for institutions of the same or lower rank than itself. Conversely, higher rank institutions used Cheobjeong(牒呈) which was stipulated as a document form to using upper rank institution in law to send them. The reason that they could have privileges in transmission document system was that Joseon had an administrative system centered on the king. Byungjo was an institution entrusted with military power from King. Seungjeonwon and Kyujanggak took charge of the assistance and the delivery of King's order. so they could have a different system of receiving and sending document than the others. In conclusion, the Joseon Dynasty operated exceptions in document administration based on the existence of the king, it means Joseon's transmission document system was basically operated under the Confucian bureaucracy with the king as its peak.

Immuno-stimulating Polysaccharides from the Fruiting Bodies of Fomitella fraxinea (II) -Isolation and characterization of hot-water extracted polysaccharides- (Fomitella fraxinea로부터 분리한 면역활성 다당류 (II) -열수추출 다당류의 분리 및 특성 -)

  • Polysaccharide FHW was extracted from the fruiting bodies of Fomitella fraxinea with hot-water treatment and then fractionated into FHW-I and FHW-II on DEAE-Cellulose chromatography. FHW-I and FCW-II were further purified into FHW-Ia and Ib, FHW-IIa and IIb on gel permeation chromatography, respectively. A small amount of uronic acid was detected and glucose, galactose, fucose, and mannose were found to be main sugars in the polysaccharides. Protein was detected in FHW-Ia, FHW-IIa, and FHW-IIb, but not in FHW-Ib. FHW-Ia was identified to be a fuco-gluco-mannogalactan with molecular weight of 19,000 and FHW-Ib was a gluco-fuco-mannogalactan of 15,000. FHW-IIa and FHW-IIb were galacto-mannoglucan and their molecular weights were estimated to be 31,000 and 9,000, respectively. Both FHW-Ib and FHW-IIb did not show an absorption band characteristic of the ${\beta}-glycosidic$ linkage in IR spectra. FHW-IIb showed a strong immuno-stimulating activity but the other three polysaccharides showed a weak activity.

Relation of cyst counts with numbers of total nuclei of Pneumocystis carinii in rats (흰쥐 주폐포자충에 있어서 도말표본상 포낭의 수와 핵의 총 수와의 상관성)

  • Wistar rats were induced of Pneumowstis cayinii infection by injection with methyl-prednisolone to correlate the cyst counts and numbers of nuclei. Seven sections of the lungs were examined by impression smears and also whole lung homogenates were screened for nucleus counting for each rat. At the first week of the experiment, all of the Impression smears except one were cyst negative but trophic forms were counted around 106. At the third week, the cysts appeared one per 20 Immersion oil lens fields. The nuclei were on the order of 107 at this period, and this amount of Pc is regarded as the limit of cyst detection on Impression smears. When the nuclei were over 109 in the lungs, the cysts were counted about 50 in 20 microscopic fields. The organisms were distributed in the lungs without any predilection focus. The present data suggest that the trophic forms, proliferate first and the cysts appear later in the lungs.
