고속차량용 디스크 제동 특성 및 제동제어 방법기술에 대한 연구 (A study on Characteristics of Disc Brake of & Technology of Brake Control System in High Speed Railway)

  • Since the braking system of rolling stock is directly linked to it's safety, ensuring reliability of braking system and evaluation of performance of it are very important. To develope the performance of braking system, it is required advanced technology and gradually various factors in the field test result. This study is designed to analyze the air pressure control about braking force in rolling stock, also, by comparing braking force of high speed railway with that of high speed train. This paper suggests to establish a method of computation of braking force form the air pressure control. And The high speed train researches into patterns of braking system such as the train of speed up and introduction of electric and pneumatic braking system.

관성에 따른 소결마찰재와 제동디스크간 마찰특성 연구 (Influence of Inertial Mass on Tribological Characteristics between Sintered Friction Material and Disk)

  • Cu-matrix-sintered brake pads and heat-resistant low-alloy steel are commonly applied to basic brake systems in high-energy moving machines. We analyzed how the tribological characteristics are influenced by the inertial mass. A high inertial mass decreased the friction coefficient by about 15% compared to a low inertial mass under all velocity conditions. The wear rates of the friction materials increased with the inertial mass. Thus, the inertial mass influences the friction coefficient and wear rate of the friction materials and disk but not the friction stability.

  • Low alloy heat resistant brake disk and sintered brake pad are applied to mechanical brake system for the speed-up of urban rapid transit. In this research, we analyzed how the frictional characteristics between brake disk and pad are influenced by the disk mass. At a high disk mass, the friction stability was the lower value as a result of the lack of tribofilm formation at the disk surface. Wear rates of friction materials showed the higher value at a low disk mass and wear rates of 10 mm and 15 mm showed the similar level. Average friction coefficient was the lower value at the 10 mm disk thickness and range of variation of average friction coefficient was also the smaller value at the 10 mm disk thickness. However, there were no significant changes in the friction coefficients under any of test conditions. Surface roughness of a disk showed the highest value at the 5 mm disk and surface roughnesses of 10 mm and 15 mm showed the similar level. As a result, friction characteristics of disk mass influenced the friction stability, as well as the wear rate of friction pad and disk, but not the friction coefficient.

  • 철도차량의 제동장치는 움직이는 차량의 운동에너지를 다른 형태의 에너지로 일부 또는 전부를 변환시켜 속도를 감소시키거나 멈추게 한다. 이를 위해서는 정확한 제동력이 요구되며 특히 대향 운송 수단인 철도차량에서는 매우 중요한 장치로 여겨지고 있다. 이러한 제동력 산출의 기준이 되는 값이 바로 제동거리이다. 철도차량이 제작되어 영업운전에 투입되기 전 수십 차례의 제동거리 측정시험을 통해 그 차량에 맞는 제동력이 결정된다. 제동거리는 차량과 레일 조건에 따라 변화하며 그 요소로는 차량의 중량, 제동 직전의 속도, 제동디스크 온도 및 레일 상면의 상태 등이 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 요소들에 어떻게 제동거리에 영향을 미치지는 실제 시험결과를 통해 고찰하고자 한다.

제동시간이 통풍형 디스크 브레이크 시스템의 건전성에 미치는 영향 (Influence of the Braking Time on the Soundness of Ventilated Disc Brake Systems)

  • In order to analyze the soundness of ventilated disc brake systems, numerical study was performed with various vane shapes. In particular, two different vane type, and the braking time from 3.0 s to 4.5s with the interval of 0.5s were considered. Transient temperature distributions on the ventilated disc brake assembly were calculated using ANSYS CFX ver. 16.1. To elucidate the soundness of ventilated disc brake systems, moreover, the heat transfer coefficients were evaluated. Results were graphically depicted with different geometrical vane configurations and braking time.

철도차량용 제동디스크의 온도 변화 측정 및 물성치 변화에 관한 연구(I) (A study on the Mechanical Properties of the Braking Disk due to the Temperature Change(I))

  • This study investigates the change of the temperature and mechanical properties of the braking disk for the railway vehicle. The average temperature is measured about $100^{\circ}C$ and the maximum temperature is measured over $200^{\circ}C$ by non-contact sensor from Seoul to Chun-an. As a result of measuring, we determine the temperature of test(tensile and J-integral) at $20^{\circ}C,\;100^{\circ}C,\;200^{\circ}C$ and $300^{\circ}C$. In the test, the material values are decreased by the increasing of the temperature. But ratio of decreasing is the largest at $200^{\circ}C$, the tensile test value is decreased about $10\%$ and the J-integral test value is decreased $30\%$. The mechanical properties of this material are mostly changed at $200^{\circ}C$.

  • A brake disk in railway vehicle is safety part. Requirements not only in performance but also in comfort, serviceability and working lifetime are high and rising. In this study, we carried out fatigue test and thermal stress analysis. To determine a pressure distribution, contact pressure analysis precede thermal stress analysis. Especially, characteristics of the brake disk were analyzed in considering intial velocity, and thickness of a frictional plate. Form the comparing the results of experiment and FEM analysis, fatigue characteristic and fatigue life assessment ok a brake disk of railway vehicle were performed.

  • In order to facilitate technical exchange among nations and/or institutes through the establishment of mutual recognition and the reliability guarantee of testing results by testing standards standardization, the interlaboratory comparison tests on brake discs and linings between KRRI and CARS were conducted. So far, two ways of comparison tests were performed for a better understanding of mutual recognition and standardization in railroad brake linings between Korea and China. In this paper, the first and second comparison testing results have been summarized, and the suggestions for the future research work are also presented to encourage extensive research on comparison study of railroad brake discs and linings between KRRI and CARS. Eventually, the final goal of the current research will be the establishment of standardization of railroad testing standards.

KTX 제동장치의 고유진동수와 스퀼소음 분석 (Analysis of Natural Frequencies and Squeal Noise of KTX Brake Unit)

  • Brake squeal noise of KTX is very uncomfortable to passengers and workers in stations. A lot of study has been conducted to inquire into the mechanism of the squeal noise. But understanding of the brake squeal noise is still challenging. In this study, we developed a full-scale tester equipped with a KTX mechanical brake unit. And we measured the vibrational characteristics of each component of the brake unit and compared them with frequency response functions of brake squeal noise measured also in the tester. It was found that the brake squeal noise was more closely related to the vibrational characteristics of the brake pads and hangers in friction condition than those of free components.
